Nebraska announces plan for immigration detention center dubbed the ‘Cornhusker Clink’
Nebraska announced plans Tuesday for an immigration detention center in the remote southwest corner of the state as President Donald Trump’s administration races to expand the infrastructure necessary for increasing deportations.
The facility will be dubbed the “Cornhusker Clink,” a play on Nebraska’s nickname of the Cornhusker State and an old slang term for jail. The alliterative name follows in the vein of the previously announced “Alligator Alcatraz” and “Deportation Depot” detention centers in Florida and the “Speedway Slammer” in Indiana.
Republican Gov. Jim Pillen said he and Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem had agreed to use an existing minimum security prison work camp in McCook — a remote city of about 7,000 people in the middle of the wide-open prairies between Denver and Omaha — to house people awaiting deportation and being held for other immigration proceedings. It’s expected to be a Midwest hub for detainees from several states.
“This is about keeping Nebraskans – and Americans across our country – safe,” Pillen said in a statement.
A good benefit is that it will be tough for the pro-illegal wackos to travel there to do their stupid protests.

(UK Guardian) A Maine police officer arrested by immigration authorities has agreed to voluntarily leave the country, US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (Ice) said on Monday.
Ice arrested the Old Orchard Beach police department reserve officer Jon Luke Evans, of Jamaica, on 25 July, as part of the agency’s effort to step up immigration enforcement. Officials with the town and police department have said federal authorities previously told them Evans was legally authorized to work in the US.
An Ice representative reached by telephone told the Associated Press on Monday that a judge has granted voluntary departure for Evans and that he could leave as soon as that day. The representative did not provide other details about Evans’s case.

(Mission Local) Federal immigration agents pepper-sprayed protesters and a reporter in San Francisco on Wednesday, after arresting an asylum-seeker in immigration court that morning. In a chaotic street scene caught on video, the agents pulled out batons and tasers and tackled several protesters to the ground, detaining at least one.
As has become routine, Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents arrested an asylum-seeker after a hearing at San Francisco’s immigration court, and were transporting them to their headquarters a half-mile away when protesters intervened.
I hope a bunch were arrested and will be charged in federal court with multiple charges.

Officer Evans can now help Make Jamaica Great Again!
It sounds as if Officer Evans is a better American than David Dempsey, 37, who used “his hands, feet, flag poles, crutches, pepper spray, broken pieces of furniture” to attack police officers on Jan 6, sentenced to 20 years, but pardoned by trump. Mr Dempsey has had multiple arrests for attacking others.
Sounds like Officer Evans “crimes” were less serious than those of Christopher Worrell, a Proud Boy convicted of assaulting police with pepper spray and with other felonies. He attempted to flee before sentencing and was later apprehended. Chris was sentenced to 10 years but was pardoned by trump.
I’d rather live next to Officer Evans than Edward Kelley, who was among the first rioters to enter the Capitol, who was pardoned for his role in the insurrection but later received a life sentence for plotting to attack FBI agents and attempting to start a civil war while under investigation.
