    While Trump is mobilizing the National Guard under a pretext now, he memorably refused to mobilize it on January 6, 2021, to protect the lawmakers under siege in the U.S. Capitol as his supporters tried to stop the counting of the electoral votes that would make Democrat Joe Biden president.

    We know, we know, your excuse is that the Speaker of the House has the authority to mobilize the National Guard but a President does not. That’s a lie. So Mr trump today has the authority but President Trump on Jan 6 did not? LOL

    It’s a political stunt.

      This is yet another of the Democrats’ talking points — does Mr Dowd get an email of them every morning? — but think about it. The Capitol kerfuffle was a three-hour long fraternity party that got out of hand, and the National Giard couldn’t have been mobilized and gotten to the scene before it ended anyway.

      Crime in DC? That’s been going on for decades, and the left are claiming that crime is actually down, which begs the question: what is the acceptable level of crime for Democrats?

      Several of the Usual Suspects have noted that President Trump mentioned five cities, including Mr Dowd’s St Louis — which have huge crime problems, and that they all have black mayors. We are supposed to accept the argument that such means Mr Trump is raaaaacist, but isn’t it also an admission that crime is far more of a problem in heavily black cities with black mayors?

      Oh, wait, I’m sorry! It’s raaaaacist to point out that part, and I denounce myself for having done so.

        Mr Dana feels recited facts can be raaaaaacist. Sorry, but no. Pointing out that majority black cities have black mayors is not racist.

        Mr Dana made a mistake though. The mayor of St Louis is Cara Spencer.

        Most US governors are white and preside over both high and low murder rate states.

        The most murderous states (2022): LA, NM, SC, AL, AR, MO, AK, TN, MD, GA… Only Maryland has a black governor.

    The suspect in the shooting outside a North Austin Target had a history of mental health issues and frequent run-ins with law enforcement since at least 2012, according to a police statement and court records from Travis and Williamson counties.

    Ethan Nieneker, a 32-year-old white man, spent time behind bars in 2016 and 2017 for family violence, driving while intoxicated and violating the terms of his bond or protective order, court records show.

    Nieneker is accused of fatally shooting Adam Chow and his 4-year-old granddaughter in a Target parking lot on Monday afternoon. A third victim, Hector Leopoldo Martinez Machuca, was transported to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

    The suspect used a handgun that he got through his family, Sexton said. Generally, people convicted of domestic violence cannot legally possess firearms under federal law. It was unclear whether any family member will face charges.
