Just a few days ago the NY Times and many others were fearporning TPS ending for Ukrainian and Sudanese refugees, and now
Migrants From Ukraine and Sudan to Keep Deportation Protections for Now
The Trump administration said on Sunday that people from Ukraine and Sudan would be able to keep their temporary humanitarian protections for now, allowing them to continue living in the United States.
Temporary Protected Status, a program meant to help foreign nationals who cannot safely return home because of armed conflict or natural disasters in their countries, was set to expire for about 100,000 Ukrainians and about 1,800 Sudanese on Monday.
The Homeland Security Department said that an announcement on the future of both programs would be “made at the appropriate time” and that people covered by them would be protected until then. But the department did not provide more information on the timing of the announcement.
Ukraine is nearly five years into a war that has battered the country, and civilian casualties have hit the highest levels since the beginning of the full-scale invasion by Russia. Sudan is in the middle of a devastating civil war that has engulfed the country for more than three years, leading to a severe food crisis.
I wonder how many of the Ukrainians are men, who would be scooped to fight in a war that barely makes the news anymore? As for Sudan, do you ever hear about the war? Regardless, this is exactly what TPS is for. But, does it ever end?
The moves notably diverge from the Trump administration’s previous attempts to swiftly dismantle T.P.S. programs as part of its broader campaign to restrict immigration, ending the protections for 13 of the 17 countries once covered. They also sharply differ from the administration’s treatment of about 350,000 Haitians who lost their temporary deportation protections this summer, despite ongoing unrest in their country. In a barrage of social media posts, homeland security officials cheered on deportation flights to Haiti.
Most of them have had TPS for over 10 years, sometimes 20+, and it is time for them to go home. Or somewhere else. That’s the way TPS works.
“In light of the armed conflicts that continue in Ukraine and Sudan, extending T.P.S. is the right decision,” said Royce Murray, an assistant secretary at the Homeland Security Department during the Biden administration. “But the lack of clarity about the decision — including for how long T.P.S. will last — creates incredible instability for T.P.S. holders and the employers who rely on them.”
Maybe employers shouldn’t be depending on people on TPS? Of course the article devolves into Orange Man Bad, because, of course it does.

Our esteemed host asked:
Countries at war frequently conscript men, but sending conscription ‘press gangs’ out into the streets to grab men and force them into the army in modern times hasn’t happened often, save by guerrilla armies trying to overthrow the government in places like Africa and southeast Asia.
Ukraine doing this now shows how desperate they are.
A shitload more Russian men are being press ganged
Off the street than are Ukranian men.
I guess that just proves how desperate the Russians are even though they have a much much larger population
If it wasn’t under the threat of draft how many American men would have volunteered to help the French keep control of SE Asia?
Over 200,000 were charged with draft dodging most were not prosecuted. Your boy Trump dodged it with a letter from a podiatrist. Jesus miraculously healed him
Teach why wonder? That info is readily available.
About 25% are adult men 30% children 45% women
Again this question about why the Ukrainian men are here reminds us of your own decision to not enlist after 9/11 despite publicly being a big fan boi of the Global War On Terror
The 30% who are refugee kids should they be sent back to the war zone?
My guess is that a substantial cohort of these Ukranian men on TPS are Russian/Ukranian
Did that occur to you?

According to my precise ca’culations, our esteemed host was 34 or 35 years old at the time, the very top of the allowable enlistment range. I was 48 years old, but I was ineligible many years earlier, due to my right eye being useless.
My conscription year — age 19 — occurred in 1972, as American involvement in Vietnam was ending; the Paris Peace Accords were signed on January 27, 2073, and even if I had been drafted and my right eye passed the physical, I wouldn’t have been sent to Vietnam; President Nixon has been drawing down the number of Americans in Vietnam, and only volunteer enlisted soldiers were being sent there in 1972.
Myself I was 1Y having had 1/2 my cartledge removed from 1 knee right after high school 1967
But still managed to go over in 68 for 18 months
I was fortunate to also have had 2 careers army unvles both of whom said it was a bad ear. 1 became a command sgt major in mid 70s (top Sargent in a 17000 man division) the other became national guard commander in my state
It was a stupid unnecessary war. We lost. Vietnam through all foreign armies out. Now we sell them weapons and they are our allies against China
Wow did you see Trump’s new red hair? What are your thoughts on that ?
That war that no one hears about ? You must be living in a Breitbart bubble.
That war more than Iran is keeping prices high.
Everyday Ukraine is hitting refineries and mostly the data centers that lower the Trump bots on YouTube
Fuel prices are high because refinery capacity is low. Not oil production
Little Peter Hugself finally got his public execution!!
“U.S. Air Force Tech. Sgt. Ian Patterson died on October 17, 2026, after falling during a pregame rappelling demonstration before a college football game between UTSA and Navy at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.”
Good job, Peter. Now resign before you kill again. Or just wait to be humiliated by the next Congress, you drunken twat.
