The Delaware State Police arrested 74-year-old Walter Moorhead, of Salisbury, Maryland, on manslaughter and related charges after he fatally shot a woman Friday evening in Ellendale.
The victim, 39-year-old Santos Maria Chilel Soto of Georgetown, Delaware was walking with a man and two children while Moorhead was hunting deer from a ground blind. Moorhead believed he saw a deer and fired his rifle, killing Soto.
In addition to a manslaughter charge, Moorhead also faces one count for possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and three counts of reckless endangerment in the first degree. He faces 25 years.
Family members are mourning Chilel Soto, a mother of five, describing her as a beloved parent and seeks help with funeral expenses and returning her remains to GUATEMALA.
