“(WSJ) President Trump said he plans to send a hospital ship to Greenland as part of his continuing effort to exercise control of the island in the Arctic, which he has said is vital for national security and contains mineral riches.”
An American sailor on a U.S. spy submarine off the coast of Greenland had a medical emergency. Greenland (Denmark) airlifted the sailor for treatment.
BTW, the U.S. military hospital ship on the East Coast is undergoing maintenance and will be available in April.
“(NYT) Denmark’s defense minister on Sunday rejected a plan by President Trump to send a “great hospital boat” to Greenland, the Arctic island and semiautonomous territory of Denmark that Mr. Trump has long sought to acquire.
The president said in a post on Truth Social on Saturday that the boat would “take care of the many people who are sick, and not being taken care of there,” adding that it was “on the way!!!”
Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen of Denmark also appeared to respond to Mr. Trump’s announcement, though she did not mention Mr. Trump or the United States. “I’m happy to live in a country where there is free and equal access to health care for everyone.”
