Obama pushes back on White House rhetoric, ape video: Decorum has ‘been lost’
Former President Obama argued in an interview published Saturday that American politics has become a “clown show” under the second Trump administration, suggesting that many Americans dislike the rhetoric coming out of the White House in recent months.
Obama made the comparison while addressing a controversial video posted on President Trump’s Truth Social account earlier this month that briefly depicted the former president and his wife, former first lady Michelle Obama, as apes.
Trump has refused to apologize for the video despite strong bipartisan backlash. Instead, the White House blamed a staffer for “erroneously” making the post, and it was taken down. (snip)
Obama proposed that while that kind of rhetoric successfully draws people’s attention and serves as “distraction,” most people “still believe in decency, courtesy, [and] kindness.”
“There’s this sort of clown show that’s happening on social media and on television,” he said.
“And what is true is that there doesn’t seem to be any shame about this among people who used to feel like you had to have some sort of decorum and a sense of propriety and respect for the office, right? So that’s been lost,” he continued.
Now, look, I do think the video went to far, and was something that the POTUS should never have retweeted. But, Obama is the last person who should be talking about decorum. His whole political life has been dirty, though, he usually gets others to do the dirty work. Remember how he got elected in the first place, by releasing the divorce papers for his opponent, Craig Schelske, which also harmed Sarah Evans and their kids. He did not care. I used to have a long list of the people Obama smeared and ran over with his bus, but, I think I deleted that page when he left office.
How many times did he Blame Bush? He threw the Boston and Ferguson police under his bush. Netanyahu multiple times. The Dali Lama. How about being involved with the smears against Trump which caused Trump to run for office then the smears while Trump was running. The whole Russian crap? Referring to millions of American Tea Party members as “tea baggers”? Mitt Romney was going to kill your grandmother (among others)? And so, so much more. So, save me the crocodile tears. Obama is scum. Worse than the normal politician.

Our distinguished 44th President missed it. Donald Trump is President today because conservatives go tired of nice, polite Republican candidate who nevertheless never really kept their promises. Mr Trump wasn’t nice and kind, but an absolute [insert slang term for the anus here] who said the same things that conservatives say in their American Legion Halls and working-class bars, and, shockingly, actually tried to keep his promises once he became President.

He certainly did try to end the “Ukraine kerfuffle,” something in which he did not succeed, but an effort that I seem to recall you mocking. He tried through negotiating with Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, certainly a different tack than that taken by President Joe Biden, but Mr Biden’s attempts were unsuccessful as well.
Prices did not come down on Day 1, but inflation is now much lower than it was, with fuel prices having actually come down. He has proposed ending birthright citizenship. The recession you guys predicted has become a significantly increasing gross domestic product.
