Hot Take: The Supreme Court Is A Tool Of Tyrants

Remember the days when liberals would tell us that things just aren’t black and white, that there are shades of grey? That there’s no need for absolutes? Well, then, along came George W. Bush, who drove them in Bush Derangement Syndrome. This infested the Credentialed Media. And the rise of blogs and digital media, so, rather than positioning themselves as Honest News, they went the Daily Kos, Crooks and Liars, Media Matters, and Think Progress route. Lots and lots of the bloggers moved into the Credentialed Media. And they went crazier with Obama in office, this time with their adulation. Then more insane with Trump in office. And anything that goes against their beliefs is The Worst Thing Ever

The Supreme Court Is a Tool of Tyrants

Most Americans do not want to ban abortion. About 60 percent believe the procedure should be legal in all or most cases, the Pew Research Center reported last year. Should the Supreme Court indeed overturn Roe v. Wade, as a leaked draft of the majority opinion in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization suggests, there is every reason to believe the decision will be unpopular. Yet public opinion matters little to the right wing and conservatives are organizing behind a national abortion ban, according to the Washington Post. “This is a whole new ballgame,” Kristan Hawkins, the president of Students for Life Action, told the newspaper. “The 50 years of standing at the Supreme Court’s door waiting for something to happen is over.”

Public opinion means exactly zero when it comes to deciding whether something is Constitutional or not. That’s why it’s called a Constitutional Republic. BTW, some polls go the other way.

There will soon be no reason for them to linger outside the Court in hope. The right’s long war to ban abortion in the United States may be nearing its conclusion. The draft opinion authored by Justice Samuel Alito, argues that “a right to abortion is not deeply rooted in the Nation’s history and traditions.” Women should not fear, he asserts later, because they “are not without electoral or political power.” This is thin comfort. Pro-choice women can influence their fates through direct action: by breaking unjust laws, or by filling streets in the defense of their bodies. Electorally, however, their powers are limited by the influence of an anti-democratic conservative movement.

It won’t be illegal everywhere. It’s a state’s rights issue. Perhaps women will stop using abortion as contraception, and start realizing that having risky, irresponsible, unprotected sex is not a good idea. Men, too. But, men do not have to worry about a bun in their oven. And, if they do not like what the state passes, they can move to another state, or try and get people elected who will change the law.

What is happening inside the Supreme Court is not the triumph of the American people but rather the success of a well-funded minoritarian faction. The battle for abortion pits the electoral and political power of a pro-choice majority against that of conservative elites, and it is easy to see who is winning. (Conservatives have focused their attention and ire on the leaked opinion because they view it as a crime committed against them. The court is theirs; anyone who violates its sanctity is an enemy. The possibility that the leaker might be a conservative does not change this basic calculus.) Anti-abortion activists have discovered that with enough elite power at their disposal, they can comfortably ignore the wishes of the people. Their stance on abortion predisposes them to a tyrannical form of politics. If abortion kills a human being, then public opinion does not matter; in fact, to defer to the public is to become complicit in mass murder.

See? We don’t like the way the Supreme Court might rule based on the Constitution, so, it’s tyranny, and we’re going to come up with all sorts of Theories. These people are nuts, and prefer mob rule, with no guiding principles.

The piece goes on and on, but, I do have to throw this in

When the justices formally rule on Dobbs, and surely strike down Roe, they will continue a anti-democratic tradition that includes Bush v. Gore, which overruled the popular vote and put George W. Bush in office;…

They just cannot Move On. This still drives them nuts. Those who know this was the proper ruling based on the laws of Florida are fine with it. I voted for Gore in 2000, so, while I was disappointed, I understood The Law. For the moonbat BDS infused lefties, they do not care, they still lose their minds for not getting their way.

Anyhow, if a liberal within the office of the Supreme Court leaked it, they might have hurt Democrats more, because seeing them out in the streets, getting violent, protest, going full moonbat in favor of killing the unborn could swing many people over to vote Republican.

BAD NEWS for the Democrats and the Lincoln Project.

Trump endorsed 22 candidates for this Tuesday’s primaries in NV, IL, and OHIO.

    All 22 WON!!!!!!!!

The left is losing constantly now. SCOTUS decisions. Biden’s EO’s being struck down. Manchin and SINEMA, both moderate Democrats blocking the DEMS own agenda. 30 Moderate DEMS have retired so far for the 22 for their reelection bids. 23 states and counting are passing voting reform acts that make it HARDER for the DEMS to steal elections. More states have passed constitutional carry allowing anyone to carry a concealed weapon.

However, I would caution against the optimism. America is still America and since the Dems only have like 219 seats, they are not going to lose 65 seats. They will lose perhaps 25 seats giving the GOP—235-240 in the HOUSE. It’s just the way the districts are drawn. AOC’s district would vote for an aborted fetus if it had a (D) besides its name. Same with many red districts.

The latest I have seen is the GOP picks up 4 senate seats at the max and 2 minimum. It’s just the way 22 works.

Either way, Biden becomes a lame duck and the Democrats get to be investigated for 4-6 years.

As for strategy. Hunter Biden will be indicted after the 22 elections and then his records sealed by the AG before the GOP takes over in 23 making it impossible for them to investigate him or Joe Biden.

It’s how the gutter works in DC. Protect your own.

And overturning Roe won’t ban it. What’s his point?

    • Professor Hale says:

It’s the same old play book from the democratic party talking points. They don’t have to be true. They just feel good saying it over and over. There is literally nothing new in the Abortion debate for decades. There is no singular virtue in having it controlled at the federal level or the state level. All other medical practice is controlled at the state.

Roe v Wade didn’t cause women to have abortions; at most, it lowered the threshold. Women, men, and couples — there are distinctions there — have wanted to manage their sex lives and their childbearing since long before contraceptives were developed and long before Roe v Wade.

If you want women to carry their babies to term, I’m a huge supporter of moral suasion and offering alternatives. I’m a big believer in cultural influences that make families look like fun instead of looking like burdens. I’m a big believer in making children more precious than they’ve become, and the democrats have made them become disposable.

I don’t believe criminal law enforcement is a good method, morally or practically. But try and tell some zealot like QdOwd that.

Alito’s take on Roe v Wade does not at all make abortion illegal. It returns the law-making responsibility to the States, where it should’ve been all along. The Warren Court rendered this warthog opinion to satisfy the militants who wanted a Federal guarantee of abortion, overriding the States. They are afraid for some reason to allow the constitutional remedy of state elections to decide the nmatter. As if different outcomes desired by different people with different views is a bad thing.

That’s why we’ve got to destroy them. We will never be able to compromise with people who won’t accept compromise. Nor can we in good moral faith compromise with people who are inherently evil.

The pro-birthers (anti-human) need to keep thinking up new ways to control Americans.

Over half of all abortions are called medication abortions – two medications before 10 weeks gestation. Red staters are already banning this approach! Of course they are! They will track IP addresses to find who is consulting a physician regarding the pills. They will try and get the FDA to remove approval. You need to figure out a way to track the mailing of pills. Maybe double the size of the post-office?

MO is adjacent to progressive Illinois. Iowa, Indiana, Kentucky women will also travel to Illinois for abortions. We suspect GOPher cretins in the legislatures will make it crime to transport a women to Illinois for an abortion. Welcome to the Republic of Gilead!!

Do you even understand how everything you believe is a lie? Did you think the “states rights” argument through? In St Louis, women can cross a bridge to Illinois. The population centers in the U.S., Chicago, LA, SF, SD, Seattle, Detroit, Minneapolis, LV, NYC, Boston, Portland, DC, Baltimore, Philly, Pittsburgh, you know places where the people live, are in areas where abortion will still be available. How will you stop that? You know the answer.

What are Red States putting in place to track the sperm donors to make them responsible? Oh, nothing? LOL. Of course not. It’s estimated to cost $0.25 million to support a child from birth to 18 (college is extra). If it’s determined that you fathered a child on a one night stand in 2012, would you be willing to pay your share of $250,000? Seems fair.

    • L.G.Brandon!, L.G.Brandon! says:

The baby killer and Supreme Court destroyer says: ” you know places where the people live, are in areas where abortion will still be available. How will you stop that? You know the answer.”

We say one step at a time. We just want people to have the democratic right to vote in their states about a problem within that state. We are not fascists like you. You can vote to legalize abortion all you want. That’s on you and your lack of human compassion and love and humanity. Meanwhile grant others the same right you demand to determine their own laws and society. Stop being a Nazi.

FJB and his baby killers. And stop stealing elections.

      • Elwood P. dOwd says:

Don’t want an abortion, don’t get one!!

Why do you, claiming to be a man, insist on using the government to control women?

So rather than the federal gov’t controlling women, you want state gov’t controlling women. LOL. Why not have an individual woman control her own body? Seems pretty basic.

Can you explain the conservative political philosophy behind that authoritarianism?

Anyone who still claims the 2020 election was stolen needs psychiatric help!!

        • L.G.Brandon!, L.G.Brandon! says:

Domkop Dowd asked: “Why not have an individual woman control her own body? Seems pretty basic.”

If the woman is pregnant and does not want a baby she has shown herself incapable of controlling her own body. OTOH, why do you want to kill babies for birth control? Seems pretty basic that one takes a pill rather than murder her offspring.

Qdowd, have you ever been a part of an abortion? Ever gotten a chick pregnant and decided to kill the baby (that is what she said she was having right, a baby)?

          FJB and you baby killers.

          • Elwood P. dOwd says:

But what about the male who ejaculated inside the woman? Doesn’t he bear equal responsibility for the pregnancy. Or are males savages that can’t control their bodies? You’re not of the ilk that feel only males should enjoy sex are you?

A compromise: If you force the woman to deliver the baby, we suggest the irresponsible male be vasectomized.

Do you understand that birth control methods are not absolutely protective? Hormonal methods and IUDs are most effective, but only if used reliably and correctly. In practice, condoms have nearly a 20% failure rate, rhythm methods, pulling out, spermicides etc are even less effective!

I’ve never been involved in an abortion. Have you?

        • david7134 says:

          Jeff,
We just went through two years of the government telling us what to do over a minor viral infection. Then we have Obama care which constantly tells us what to do. Now, I actually support your opinion on abortion, but don’t run around blabbering about conservatives telling others what to do, it makes you look more stupid than usual.

          • david7134 says:

Oh, if you desire to have abortions, just make a Constitutional amendment that supports the action. That is actually why other countries have less issues with the concept that us, the people voted for it and it was not forced through the court.

          • Elwood P. dOwd says:

            Porter,

A minor viral infection that killed one million Americans.

          • david7134 says:

            Jeff,
Yes it is minor. I and many other physicians feel that our government aided in the deaths. If Trump had been left in charge the death rate would have been lower. But pharmacist rarely understand the full scope of medical care.

  4. L.G.Brandon!, L.G.Brandon! says:

Now the leftist fascist dogs released the addresses of “the conservative SC justices” so the crazies can go threaten and/or kill them. Isn’t that how banana republics work? Isn’t that what the Mafia did in Italy? What is going on here?

The left has gone nuts and has crossed the line. Protesting is one thing (unless you’re at the Capitol and are conservative) calling out the SC justices and lining them up for assassination?

This is what FJB has done to the USA. Total destruction. Now the idiot says we MAGA peopl3e are the biggest threat to America in history. Bigger than the Civil War. Bigger than the KKK, BLM and Antifa rolled together. Guys like Qdowd believe that.

    FJB

    • .38 Police Special Elwood P. dOwd says:

The MAGA crowd, led by DonJon tRumPutin, IS a grave threat to the Republic. You wish to destroy America and rebuild it as a christian, conservative, caucasian and undemocratic nation.

Starting in 1992, only one GOPher presidential candidate received more votes than the Democratic candidate. In 2004, after starting a global war, George W. Bush, eclipsed John Kerry. W. Clinton, W. Clinton, Gore, (Bush), Obama, Obama, H. Clinton, Biden, ?

There are fewer GOPhers than Democrats in America, but the GOPhers have been ruthless and relentless in constructing a minority infrastructure to rule. In Red State after Red State, even when there is a Democratic majority, GOPhers dominate the legislature!! Kudos GOPher minority.

The Holy Grail of the American right was to construct a reactionary majority in the supreme court to overturn Roe v Wade!! Kudos!! A substantial majority of Americans support abortion rights and absolutely DO NOT support abortion bans even in Red States.

How do wingers expect the majority to react when a fascist minority want to erase 50 years of history? The wingers likely bit off more than they can chew this time. And to think they thought they’d win the House and the Senate. Good luck.

  5. Mike-SMO says:

I go with, “The Mother must live”.

Birth control meds can’t be used for some women, “topical” birth control methods sometimes fail. A “friend”, and her husband, wanted a second child although she had miscarried several times with severe (life threatening) preclampsia ( lethally high blood pressure), Her current physician was sure that he could maintain a pregnancy, They had to pay out of pocket for a second physician who would do an abortion (the old “cure” for preclampsia) if the primary doc failed. The attempt at a second child wasn’t worth dying for, and s**t always happens at 2-4AM when there are no “supervisors or judges around. I am sure that any physician, worth his/her white coat, would try to save any late-term “baby” that resulted. Whatever, the Mother must survive. Her choice. They won that gamble. The resulting child is in med-school.

I am sure that some abuse the availability of abortion using it as a form of birth control, putting their health and life at risk. That is on them. Educate if you can, but “The Mother must live”. The abortion option must always be available.

I have known (and loved) Mothers. My late Wife almost died during the delivery of her third pregnancy. “Don’t ever get pregnant again!”, but no hospital in our city would permit a tubal ligation. “You might want to have another child….” We lived on the razor’s edge with an abortion as the only out until she had to have a hysterectomy. Another friend had irregular periods and didn’t know for months that she was pregnant. It is not a regular video game. F**k the physicians and f**k the hospitals.

The woman must always have the choice of abortion. The Mother must always survive. If you are concerned about abortions, minimize them by teaching birth control, but do not remove that option that is necessary to keep some women alive. The usual proposed regulations and limitations will kill innocent women/wives. Physicians play the odds since they learn that all humans are not alike. Laws and regulations treat everyone alike, but they aren’t.

    • david7134 says:

      Sound reasoning.

    • L.G.Brandon!, L.G.Brandon! says:

You didn’t live on the edge. Get a vasectomy. I did. Use several forms of birth control. Nobody needs to get pregnant who doesn’t want to unless it’s rape. Millions of babies have been killed not to save “the mother’s life” but by being killed as a form of birth control by men and women who care more about their convenience than their children.
