Climate Today: Warmists Refuse To Date Skeptics On OKCupid, Plus EVs And White Pavement

Cult members refusing to date non-cult members. It’s a cult

Climate change is biggest ‘dealbreaker’ on popular dating app

Opinions surrounding climate change are the biggest “dealbreaker” out of several topics when it comes to finding a match on the popular dating app OKCupid, new data from the company shows.

Among 250,000 users surveyed worldwide over the past year, OKCupid found that 90 percent of daters said that it’s “important” for their match to care about climate change.

Meanwhile, among 6 million users surveyed over the past three years, 81 percent of daters said they were “concerned” about climate change — topping other potential dealbreaker issues like gender equality and gun control.

“We have just seen over time, climate change being more and more this huge topic for our millennials daters especially,” Jane Reynolds, director of product marketing at OKCupid, told The Hill. “People feel that with climate change, it says so much more about you — if that’s something that you believe in and are concerned about.”

I’ll be honest, I’m not sure I’d want to date a climate cult member, either, because they’d be Very Silly in their talking points, while I’d be constantly pointing out that they’re climahypocrites

Filling a gas-powered vehicle can still be cheaper than charging an electric one

According to the EPA, the national average for a kilowatt-hour of electricity is 13 cents, including at homes where most electric car owners charge their vehicles with 240-volt Level 2 chargers that typically take eight hours or more to fill them up. Many of these are also available in public settings like office and shopping center parking lots, where they are known as destination chargers.

Things are much different at the Level 3 public DC fast-charging stations that allow some electric vehicles to recharge to 80% as quickly as 18 to 40 minutes, depending on the model and station speed, and are seen by some as the silver bullet that will make owning an electric car as convenient as a gas-powered one. Much of Tesla’s success is attributed to its decision to roll out its proprietary network of Supercharger fast charging stations to support its owners.

On the Electrify America network that’s compatible with all electric vehicles, fast-charge rates are as high as 43 cents per kilowatt-hour in some states, including California, New York, Florida and Washington. The price can be reduced to 31 cents by enrolling in a membership with a monthly fee. (snip)

At the higher rate, charging the entry-level version of the Ford Mustang Mach-E — which has a starting price of $37,495 after federal tax credits are deducted and a range of 247 miles between charges — would cost $2,100 annually for 15,000 miles of driving, compared to $1,500 at 31 cents and just $650 in an average home. (in Reality Tax Land, you cannot just deduct federal tax credits like that.)

In contrast, a similarly sized Ford Escape Hybrid that starts at $32,780 and gets 41 mpg needs just $1,550 worth of gas each year to fill up at $4.25 per gallon, and it’s $2,100 for a nonhybrid $27,755 Escape S rated at 30 mpg. In California, which has the highest priced gasoline at $5.57 per gallon, those costs would be $2,050 and $2,800.

So, you don’t really save, especially when considering the price of the vehicles.

Q&A: Randolph Kirchain on how cool pavements can mitigate climate change
MIT research scientist explores how cool pavements can offer climate change solutions in more than just the summer.

As cities search for climate change solutions, many have turned to one burgeoning technology: cool pavements. By reflecting a greater proportion of solar radiation, cool pavements can offer an array of climate change mitigation benefits, from direct radiative forcing to reduced building energy demand.

Yet, scientists from the MIT Concrete Sustainability Hub (CSHub) have found that cool pavements are not just a summertime solution. Here, Randolph Kirchain, a principal research scientist at CSHub, discusses how implementing cool pavements can offer myriad greenhouse gas reductions in cities — some of which occur even in the winter.

Let me note that this is actually a very good idea. Also, that this shows the Urban Heat Island effect, not global warming

It makes sense that people seeking a close relationship should agree on things that are important to them. I suspect that men on OKCupid play by a different standard. It’s still OK for men to lie about their deeply held beliefs to get laid.

    Hey, where’s that liar Fauci?

You mean the mass murderer? Probably took a powder when the evidence in Ukraine showed up.

    • Elwood P. Dowd says:

How sad is it that America-haters are more concerned about Dr Anthony Fauci, calling him an liar and mass murderer, while backing a liar and mass murderer from Russia.

        Ukraine is hiring Comrade DOWD.

It is so sad that American Haters are still going on about Trump who is no longer the president of the USofA.

It is so sad that the American Haters, hate fossil fuels and are willing to kill people and destroy their businesses over a CULT.

I was watching one of the lunatics at MSNBC talking about the BIOLABS in UKRAINE.

His answer is that these labs existed prior to the USSR collapse and the USA is JUST OVER THERE MAKING SURE ALL THE SAMPLES ARE TAKEN CARE OF………………..THIRTY ONE YEARS LATER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I Mean I see how they think that people are morons who listen to their lies. I Had to think for a minute after he said that. My first thought….Oh yeah…that would make sense.

        THIRTY YEARS AGO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

        • Elwood P. Dowd says:

Suddenly, our resident China haters believe the official Chinese lie about bioweapons labs in Ukraine!!

Said Chinese spokesperson Zhao Lijian: “Presently the U.S. biological labs in Ukraine have indeed attracted much attention. According to reports, in these facilities a large quantity of dangerous viruses are stored. Russia has found during its military operations that the U.S. uses these facilities to conduct military plans. According to data released by the U.S., it has 26 labs in Ukraine.”

It’s Russia, the ‘Murican right and China against the civilized world.

Hey I’m just quoting MSNBC. They are the ones trying to douse cold water on Biolabs.

They do NOT DENY they exist. They point out that Americans work there.

            WHY?

Oh yeah, that would be to make sure the site is managed properly after the USSR collapsed.

Don’t blame the ME. MSNBC is the one running with this STORY.

They don’t deny they exist. The Undersecretary of state acknowledges they exist.

Yet in FAKE NEWS DOWD”S mine this is somehow a Right wing MURICAN RIGHT and CHINA.

Hilarious DOWD. Your ability to pull leprecauns from Banana Peels is mind blowing.

If you want to Bash someone go Bash MSNBC who does not DENY these labs Exist but rather tries to explain them away and DOWD SIPS it with his political sippee cup.

Teach 80% of the planet is water so no cities there
Of the remaining 20% of the Eargh’s surface 3% at most is considered urban
That equates to. 006% of the anrt being urban
How much of the increase in global Temps has occurred because of the “urban heat effect”?
So most all EV owners could fully charge their cars at home for 8 hours @13 cents for a total of $1.04
And for someone like yourself who drives only q/×” national avetsge thst would be done once each week?
Fortunately renewable generation costs went down 12% last year. They ho down every year. Remember OUR USA oil price is set by the world oil price not by how much or howittle we produce
We pay the world market price for every barrel pumped up.
They are now 650 oil rigs drilling about 50% more than at any time under Trump when prices were low
Maybe Fake Newsboy will want to check. It is quite easy to check

    • Jl says:

“Renewable costs went down…” And the unreliability stayed the same.

      • Elwood P. Dowd says:

        While discussing reliability…

In the US, there are over 4000 house fires and 300 explosions resulting from natural gas leaks.

Every year some 50,000 Americans seek medical attention from carbon monoxide poisoning and over 400 succumb.

Yearly, over 150,000 vehicle fires occur in the United States, resulting in an annual average 1300 injuries and over 300 deaths.

And ask Texans how reliable their gas-fired electrical grid handled a cold snap (and please, no BS blaming renewables).

        • Jl says:

So in other words renewables are still unreliable, as stated. Nothing you said there disputed that fact. As far as Texas, the problem was an over-reliance on wind WALL STREET JOURNAL: The Political Making of a Texas Power Outage: How bad energy policy led to rolling blackouts in the freezing Lone Star State.
Mr. Abbott blamed his state’s extensive power outages on generators freezing early Monday morning, noting “this includes the natural gas & coal generators.” But frigid temperatures and icy conditions have descended on most of the country. Why couldn’t Texas handle them while other states did?
The problem is Texas’s overreliance on wind power that has left the grid more vulnerable to bad weather. Half of wind turbines froze last week, causing wind’s share of electricity to plunge to 8% from 42%. Power prices in the wholesale market spiked, and grid regulators on Friday warned of rolling blackouts. Natural gas and coal generators ramped up to cover the supply gap but couldn’t meet the surging demand for electricity—which half of households rely on for heating—even as many families powered up their gas furnaces. Then some gas wells and pipelines froze.
In short, there wasn’t sufficient baseload power from coal and nuclear to support the grid. Baseload power is needed to stabilize grid frequency amid changes in demand and supply. When there’s not enough baseload power, the grid gets unbalanced and power sources can fail. The more the grid relies on intermittent renewables like wind and solar, the more baseload power is needed to back them up.
But politicians don’t care about grid reliability until the power goes out. And for three decades politicians from both parties have pushed subsidies for renewables that have made the grid less stable.
Start with the 1992 Energy Policy Act signed by George H.W. Bush, which created a production tax credit to boost the infant wind industry. Generators collect up to $25 per megawatt hour of power they produce regardless of market demand. The credit was supposed to expire in 1999, but nothing lasts longer than a temporary government program, as Ronald Reagan once quipped.
The renewables lobby found GOP allies in windy states like Texas, Oklahoma and Iowa. Former Enron CEO Ken Lay, who had made a big bet on wind, begged then Texas Gov. George W. Bush in 1998 to lobby Congress to extend the credit for five years. Congress has since extended it more than a dozen times, most recently in December.
Wind producers persuaded former Gov. Rick Perry to back a $5 billion network of transmission lines to connect turbines in western Texas to cities. This enabled them to build more turbines—and collect more tax credits. Because the Texas grid is often oversupplied, wind producers sometimes pay to off-load their power, though they still turn a profit with the tax credits.
Coal and nuclear are more strictly regulated and can’t compete, and many coal plants have shut down in Texas and elsewhere. Over the last decade about 100 gigawatts of coal power nationwide has been retired—enough to power 60 million homes. Many nuclear plants are scheduled to shut down, including large reactors in New York and Illinois this year

          • Elwood P. Dowd says:

You made an unsupported claim that renewables are unreliable.

Renewables are as reliable as fossil-fuels.

            There, now we’re even!

We told you not to tell the refuted lies about TX, but there you go again.

          • Elwood P. Dowd says:

It’s common in the deepest, darkest recesses of wingerland to imagine that they do not have to support their outlandish claims with evidence, but rather they are TRUE until refuted by reasonable people.

Sorry wingers but that’s not how this works. That’s not how any of this works. We’ve been over this time and again.

      Okay FAKE NEWS HAIRY.

Domestic drilling has been inching upward. In West Texas’ Permian Basin, the most prolific U.S. oilfield, with the number of active rigs is approaching pre-pandemic levels, with 248 more rigs running than a year ago.

So far, most of that activity involves wells that were drilled previously and not completed.

SORRY TO BURST YOUR FAKE NEWS BUBBLE HAIRY, but the oil drilling is simply the start up of already partially drilled holes in TEXAS where the Long Arm of AGW lunatics is not so long.

There is an investigation into RUSSIA funding anti-gas/oil organizations in the USA whose sole function is to destroy the Oil and Gas industry in the United States.

      OHH….OHHH.

      OVER HERE!!!!

I think I found two of them. Dowd and Hairy and the Russians have a thang. This would explain why each of these guys post here 18 hours a day 7 days a week 364 days a year. They get to take off the Motherland Holiday.

Dr Fauci is the Director of NIAID. Since, at least for now, the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 in the US has checked significantly, Dr Fauci has little to add publicly. If there’s a significant uptick in cases, or should Allah allow, a more dangerous variant emerge, Dr Fauci will respond.

We’ve seen repeated reference to ‘Ukraine bioweapon labs’, straight from Russian propaganda into the hearts and ‘minds’ of American winger propagandists (aka FOX). Why does the the American winger population side with Putin over America? Is it because of the Mobster of Mars-ate-Lardo? Your Savior is in awe of the mass murderer Vlad Putin – it’s professional jealousy.

The new Russian disinformation bot, the davidov1960 is being used to spread this Putin lie on media. Pathetic.

By default then does that mean since you are an Aethist leftist does that mean have screwed like a rabbit all your life?

  6. Elwood P. Dowd says:

First, the Earth is not warming because of the urban heat island effect. Mr Hairy explained it above, Teach.

Second, most EVs are charged at home on cheap electricity and NOT at expensive rapid chargers where private businesses can charge (haha!) whatever the market with bear.

Mr Teach conveniently missed this part of the FOX article:

U.S. electricity prices, which are heavily regulated in most states, have remained stable, however, and the cost to charge an electric car is still much lower than filling up one with an internal combustion engine, but only if you have a place to plug it in at home or a lot of time on your hands.

Also, Mr Teach worries a LOT about the range of EVs!! Arithmetic tells us that a 20 mpg vehicle with a 15 gal tank has a range of about 300 miles.

      • Elwood P. Dowd says:

Jill continues to never make an argument and supplies links to right-wing propaganda sites and twit farms.

Just the facts, ma’am, just the facts.

“Costs to fill much lower..”. If so, if only there was a reason why… https://twitter.com/keillerdon/status/1499742916696317952?s=12

    • Facts Matter says:

Also, Mr Teach worries a LOT about the range of EVs!! Arithmetic tells us that a 20 mpg vehicle with a 15 gal tank has a range of about 300 miles.

And at any point along that trip you can pull in and fill up your tank.

With an EV you have to use an onboard computer that is not reliable to find you a charging point which might have a line. I have watched dozens of videos of people talking about not finding the charging stating the computer pointed them too, or there was a line or it took over an hour and a half to charge their car to 90 percent.

Another problem is the different types of plugs.

On and on the problems roll out. The EV industry is computer run, and computers are unreliable and it is hard to get chips to even make EV’s today. Secondly the cars in question are constantly needing software updates that you cannot do yourself and have to take it in for service.

Most service centers have a vague idea what to do and if they do there is usually ONE person that knows what to do and he/she is sick, on vaccation or has covid.

Again the more you spread disinformation the more like a fool you appear to your wife who is now wondering if she married a jack rabbit or a man….HAHAHAHAHAHA.

      • Elwood P. Dowd says:

FM ignores technical advances. As the number of EVs increases so too will the rapid chargers along the way. Remember genius, we’re transitioning from gas to electric.

Don’t you feel bad for those christian men who have never been married, and thus never had sex? Otherwise they’d be hypocrites wouldn’t they?

I’ve been married to the same woman for decades, dumbass, so your silliness makes little sense. But what’s new?

        • Bill589 says:

Useful Idiot Elwood P. Dowd lies for his globalist Masters hoping to be a good slave.
If you want to be a slave, why not go to another country? There is a lot of slavery in the world for you.

        • Facts Matter says:

Hey being married to the same woman doesnt mean much anymore. Especially to aethiests.

But back to the subject at hand. Relying on advances is all well and good. But hows that working out in a world that can’t produce enough EV’s for decades to even matter?

Is it your plan to just make gasoline 15 dollars a gallon and make the rest of us make payments on a Honda CRV while we fill it with dirt and plant daisies in the front seats?

Meanwhile we wait in line for months and months for a C-Pap machine for my dead wife because the Left shut down the world for political gain.

Now you want to fight Russia because you were lied to by the MSM that Trump was a russian agent posing as a president. You yelled this for 3 years and you know what they say….Lies told often enough become the truth. You actually believe that stuff now.

You believe the world is going tits up because of Fossil fuels. Why do you really care?

Could it be because you are a paid stooge for one of the many PACS whose sole function is to destroy the oil/gas industry for the Russians. Hell I posted earlier that they are calling on Yellen to investigate several groups for receiving money from the Russians for this very thing.

Welp we will know if you disappear that they caught up to you and cut off your welfare check from Russia.

    • Bill589 says:

Troll Dowd says, “The earth is not warming…”
The liar at least got that part right.
Instead of blindly repeating your Masters lies, why not do your own research and be Right?

The sage from St Louis wrote:

This is quite true, but it brings up the obvious: if you don’t have a secure garage or parking place in which to install your at home charger, plug-in electric vehicles are more expensive to operate and simply impractical.

I’ve seen several sets of disparate statistics, and have chosen an optimistic one, which states that 44.1 million households (35.9%) are renters, not homeowners. Of the three homes I’ve owned and lived in, only two would have been suitable for an at-home charger. Of the residences I’ve rented, only one out of seven would have been able to have a car charger installed. And as the left keep pushing more dense urbanization, they are concomitantly pushing people toward residences unsuitable for car chargers.

Plug-in electric vehicles are for the well-to-do in more ways than one!

One item which is always a big commission get for a concrete salesman is parking lot conversions, persuading builders to do concrete parking lots rather than asphalt. The two major selling points are lower maintenance in the outyears, and lower lighting costs, as concrete, which is light grey, reflects more lumens than darker asphalt.

Now we’ll have another: by reflecting away more solar radiation, a concrete parking lot helps cool Mother Gaia!

    • L.G.Brandon!, L.G.Brandon! says:

There’s another reason which is important: bird shit won’t show up as much on concrete. However, if the lot is in the inner city blood is easier to see. Basically jogger blood just blends in with asphalt. George Floyd taught us that.

We understand that all Black men look alike to a white supremacist turd like Brand0, but Mr Arbery was murdered while jogging while Mr Floyd was murdered while being arrested.

Awww, did I get your ass in a snit again , bitch? I didn’t say one word bout Arbery or Floyd, did I? I was talking about t6he advantages of concrete and/or asphalt. But you being a typical leftist racist and finding it necessary to call me a name decided I was talking about two distinct people.

I’ve been a “real fire fighter” for 22 years you little faggot. How many black people have you pulled out of fires? I’ve rescued dozens. One of the 1990s innovations was pervious concrete, recommended for parking lots and driveways, which allows rainwater to penetrate through the concrete rather than running off. It supposedly eliminates the need for retention ponds and many drainage swales. It is basically a concrete with no or very little sand in the mix, leaving void spaces in the concrete through which rain water can flow into the subgrade.

I will admit to not being a fan: it’s a bitch to properly place, and I have yet to figure out how, over time, the void spaces would not get filled up with sand, dirt, dust and other road debris as time passed. Vehicles leaking fluids would see those fluids drain down into the subgrade.

But, I suppose in Philadelphia and St Louis, the blood of the murdered would also settle through, policing the crime scene as it were.

Alas! The pervious concrete I have seen tends to be a darker grey than regular concrete, sand frequently being the lightest color aggregate in concrete, and that means pervious concrete would reflect away less solar radiation.
