2nd Class Citizens: Woman Who Refuses COVID Vaccine Denied Kidney Transplant

You might have seen some stories on social media about people being denied access to hospitals, and others about doctors saying they won’t treat people who haven’t gotten the Chinese coronavirus vaccine for serious problems. Even though they dealt with un-vaccinated people for a year without them having been vaccinated. This is one of the first I’ve seen where someone was actually denied

Colorado woman who won’t get vaccinated denied transplant

When a Colorado woman found out her hospital wouldn’t approve her kidney transplant surgery until she got the COVID-19 vaccine, she was left with a difficult decision pitting her health needs against her religious beliefs.

Leilani Lutali, a born-again Christian, went with her faith.

Even though she has stage 5 kidney disease that puts her at risk of dying without a new kidney, Lutali, 56, said she could not agree to be vaccinated because of the role that stem cells have played in the development of vaccines.

“As a Christian, I can’t support anything that has to do with abortion of babies, and the sanctity of life for me is precious,” she said.

I’ll be perfectly honest, I wasn’t aware of that argument. And, yes, the three main vaccines did use aborted fetal cells. Sort of

(Nebraska Medicine) Answer from infectious disease expert and practicing Catholic James Lawler, MD

No, the COVID-19 vaccines do not contain any aborted fetal cells. However, fetal cell lines – cells grown in a laboratory based on aborted fetal cells collected generations ago – were used in testing during research and development of the mRNA vaccines, and during production of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. (snip)

Fetal cell lines are cells that grow in a laboratory. They descend from cells taken from abortions in the 1970s and 1980s.

Those individual cells from the 1970s and 1980s have since multiplied into many new cells over the past four or five decades, creating the fetal cell lines I mentioned above. Current fetal cell lines are thousands of generations removed from the original fetal tissue. They do not contain any tissue from a fetus.

So, yes, the current fetal cells derive from long ago. How strict does one want to be?

The Vatican and bishops agree. The Vatican has issued clear guidance that permits Roman Catholics in good faith to receive COVID-19 vaccines that use fetal cell lines in development or production. Read the Vatican’s comments on the morality of receiving a COVID-19 vaccine.

There is no similar statement from a Christian, as in non-Catholic, group, nor Muslim. Yes, Muslims are also refusing to take the vaccine. There have been individual statements, but, not from big leadership groups. I have my opinion on this, but, people need to make their own decisions.

UCHealth requires transplant recipients to be vaccinated because recipients are at significant risk of contracting COVID-19 as well as being hospitalized and dying from the virus, spokesman Dan Weaver said. Unvaccinated donors could also pass COVID-19 to the recipient even if they initially test negative for the disease, he said.

“Studies have found transplant patients who contract COVID-19 may have a mortality rate of 20% or higher,” he said.

Yet, they’ll do transplants for people with other diseases, such as HIV, full blown AIDS, Hepatitis, and others. What happened to doctors doing no harm? These people will live longer, and it is a chance that people take.

To Lutali, a recruiter for tech companies, it seems like her hospital was so insistent on saving her from COVID-19 that is is willing to let her possibly die by blocking her transplant surgery.

Lutali, who does not belong to a denomination, said she does not live in fear of dying because of her belief in the afterlife. She is searching for another hospital, possibly in Texas or Florida, where she could get a transplant without being vaccinated.

I’m surprised she isn’t suing.

To be consistent, people objecting to the Covid vaccine on religious/abortion grounds should object to most modern medicines.

But of course the Covid vaccine brouhaha is a political objection.

  2. Elwood P. Dowd says:

But good for Leilani Lutali for risking her life for her beliefs. Now that’s the kind of faith that most Christians don’t have!

William Teach: they’ll do transplants for people with other diseases, such as HIV, full blown AIDS

Only with qualifications. To receive a donor kidney, AIDS patients must meet the requirements of an indetectable viral load and a CD4 cell count > 200/cubic mm.

A person with Covid-19 is more likely to die after a kidney transplant, a result of the immunosuppressive drugs used.

    • Kye says:

“A person with Covid-19 is more likely to die after a kidney transplant, a result of the immunosuppressive drugs used.”

So now you’re a transplant expert too? Both patients would be affected by the immunosuppressive drugs and most likely they would deny any transplant to a person with an existing infection. Not being inoculated is not an existing infection. There is more chance of pneumonia, fatal blood clot or heart attack after a transplant than Communist Fever.

Denying people transplants for which they qualify is immoral. But we understand you come from san immoral party with immoral beliefs.

Now, saying all that and having actually been on a transplant list for my lungs they required me to have all the usual vaccinations I could get. However, the Wuhan shot is not a “vaccination” it’s an inoculation. It neither protects the patient from getting the disease (I got it) nor does it prevent it’s transmission according to all your “experts”.

So if a shot does not protect you from a disease nor stop it’s transmission what good is it and why should it be mandated taking away the very essence of our humanity?

        • Elwood P. Dowd says:

Ms Lutali’s physicians should have a talk with her, explain her medical situation, explain the vaccination development process which could allow her to make an informed decision.

We are made to wonder why all the Proud Boyz here, from W Teach down to the lowest level, all seem to defy their fetus worship and took the vaccine.

Why would Trump develop vaccines that used aborted babies for development?

          • drowningpuppies says:

Well Rimjob, why not be consistent yourself?

Earlier you spouted: “But good for Leilani Lutali for risking her life for her beliefs.”
That’s what a good little Nazi would reasonably say.

Who claims she wasn’t making an informed decision?
            A dipshit like you?

      • Elwood P. Dowd says:

        Kye,

You claimed you only had a single shot, not the entire series. On the other hand you only had a mild case of Covid, even with your litany of co-morbidities. You might thank the incomplete course of vaccine for keeping you out of the hospital and alive.

There is triage with kidney transplant recipients.

But for certain people with kidney failure, a kidney transplant may be more risky than dialysis. Conditions that may prevent you from being eligible for a kidney transplant include:

        Advanced age
        Severe heart disease
        Active or recently treated cancer
Dementia or poorly controlled mental illness
        Alcohol or drug abuse
Any other factor that could affect the ability to safely undergo the procedure and take the medications needed after a transplant to prevent organ rejection

A potential recipient may refuse to give up drugs or alcohol. They may refuse to take anti-rejection drugs for religious or other reasons. They may refuse to acquire adequate immunizations.

Ms Lutali has chosen to continue dialysis instead of receiving a kidney transplant. That’s her right as an American.

        • Elwood P. Dowd says:

          Kye,

Do you think smokers should receive a lung transplant? Or are you OK that the Nazi/Fascist/Commie doctors insist the patient give up smoking?

          • Kye says:

“You claimed you only had a single shot, not the entire series.”
“You might thank the incomplete course of vaccine for keeping you out of the hospital and alive.”

As I pointed out in a previous post Elwood would either say the single shot saved my worthless life if I lived through Wuhan or he would say not completing the dose was what killed me if I died. It never crossed his mind that HCQ, Ivermectin etc. was successful treatment.

“On the other hand you only had a mild case of Covid, even with your litany of co-morbidities.”

Actually I had quite a serious and potentially deadly case of Democommie flu which came on quickly and with no forewarning precisely because of that “litany of co-morbidities”. My doctor agreed with my sister that had I not immediately undertaken the therapeutic HCQ/Ivermectin treatment I most likely would not have survived even after my so-called “vaccination”. You are neither a physician nor were you present to observe my condition or vital signs at the time of my infection therefore you have absolutely no credibility as far as determining the severity of my case. Stop talking about things you could not possibly know especially to people who do actually know.

I’d like to point out your supposition or accusation (whichever) that my Demonazi Flu was a “mild case” is not only completely made up in your own mind, but a deliberate attempt at turning my medical condition into your political position. That’s what we’re against with the CommieDem flu, global warming, lockdowns, school boards, CRT and all the rest of the shitstorm you constantly lay down on the once Free American citizenry.

Everything does not need to be politics Elwood. But guys on your team like to make everything politics because that enables you to force everyone else to your will. Very noble.

“Scientists make it clear that natural immunity is at least as good, and more likely far better than vaccine immunity. That doesn’t make vaccines bad, it just points out their limits. Solar and wind energy are good, too, but won’t power the world. We need to be honest about the limits of our technologies. (But we can’t do that if we allow demofascists like The 3 Mice to politicize everything),

Data from Israel buttress natural immunity over vaccine immunity as they found that “fully vaccinated” individuals are 27 times more likely to become COVID-infected and symptomatic, and seven times more likely to be hospitalized compared to those unvaccinated but with natural immunity.

Another way to look at this is to see whether it is the vaccinated or unvaccinated getting sick currently. Listen to an Australian health minister who announced at a recent press conference, that 95 percent of the COVID patients in Victoria hospitals are vaccinated. Specifically, 356 people out of 375 patients are vaccinated, yet 81 people are still in intensive care with 61 on a ventilator. It’s no better in the UK where 80 percent of those dying of COVID have been vaccinated.

Obviously, vaccine immunity has short durability otherwise the vaccinated would not be getting hospitalized, going to the ICU, or dying, as they are purported to do. We don’t know the converse, how many have been kept out of the hospital by the vaccine, but to claim that vaccines are the only or best pathway to immunity, as some healthcare organizations do, is not following the science.

How long does natural immunity last? A recently published scientific paper from China showed that antibodies can last for more than a year post-COVID infection. As that’s how long COVID has been with us, one year is all that can be measured, and antibodies and humoral immunity may last far longer.

Another study, published in Nature, demonstrated that T-cell immunity in patients recovering from 2003 SARS (similar to our current SARS-CoV-2 infection) was still robust 17 years post-infection. This study was performed 17 years after the 2003 SARS outbreak, meaning that immunity showed no signs of waning thus far and could potentially last a lifetime.

The bottom line is that natural immunity is real and long-lasting, yet is dismissed by the medical establishment and those in the ruling classes, in favor of mandatory vaccinations which have been shown to provide only temporary immunity. Is this following the science? Is this the best way forward to return life to normal after a year and a half of this COVID dystopian nightmare?

Or is it following Big Pharma and the money? COVID vaccines created 9 new billionaires. Merck’s new COVID treatment Molnupiravir costs $18 to produce but will be sold to the federal government for $712, a 40-fold markup. Any acknowledgment of natural immunity might cut into Big Pharma’s profits and throw water on the endless rules and diktats we live under.

The Brits summed it up nicely in the British Medical Journal, asking the question not allowed to be asked here in the US, “Vaccinating people who have had covid-19: why doesn’t natural immunity count in the US?” Good question.

Brian C Joondeph, MD, is a fully vaccinated physician and writer who also has natural immunity to COVID.

          • Elwood P. Dowd says:

According to you, only 6% of total deaths are attributed to Covid, so only 42,000 Americans have died, not 700,000.

So the threat to you was slight. It’s doubtful that HCQ and ivermectin made any difference. You would have lived regardless.

“Natural” Covid immunity is not better than vaccination.

What is added by this report?

Among Kentucky residents infected with SARS-CoV-2 in 2020, vaccination status of those reinfected during May–June 2021 was compared with that of residents who were not reinfected. In this case-control study, being unvaccinated was associated with 2.34 times the odds of reinfection compared with being fully vaccinated.

What are the implications for public health practice?

To reduce their likelihood for future infection, all eligible persons should be offered COVID-19 vaccine, even those with previous SARS-CoV-2 infection.

The caveat to this study is that it was conducted in KY, part of third-world America.

    • Dana says:

The current vaccines are far less effective in people with compromised immune systems, but transplant patients take immunosuppressive drugs, meaning that getting vaccinated against COVID is pretty much a waste of time and effort for a transplant patient.

  3. Zachriel says:

“As a Christian, I can’t support anything that has to do with abortion of babies, and the sanctity of life for me is precious,” she said.

The immunosuppressive drugs used after an organ transplant were developed with the help of embryonic stem cells, as well as the Tylenol she might take for pain management. There are hundreds of common medicines where embryonic stem cells were used for testing or development

Someone who has HIV would be expected to do what was necessary to lower their viral load. They may not accept you for a transplant if you smoke though. That’s because you can control your vaccination and smoking status.

The sitting president of the United States, advised by the nation’s top infectious diseases specialists, doesn’t know what is now common knowledge; that vaccinated individuals can still spread Covid-19.

“If you seek care at a healthcare facility, you should have a certainty that the people providing that care are protected from Covid and cannot spread it to you,” Biden said, explaining the rationale behind forcing healthcare workers and other professionals to get vaccinated or lose their job.”

    Jeff,
You are bouncing around trying to get an argument started and call people names, pathetic.

Now remember, this is a new paragraph, you have zero knowledge of the transplant process and the various rules. So don’t make a fool of yourself.

As to talking someone into a procedure or treatment, a doctor learns that is not a good idea as an intern. Patients are intelligent and know their bodies. They can get a sense that something is not good for them and will be reluctant to commit.

    • Elwood P. Dowd says:

      Dookie,

We only call people names who call us names. And Surrender Trump.

Actually I know quite a lot regarding transplants and transplant rules.

A good doctor can explain the truth to a patient but it is still the patient’s choice. In the Colorado case the woman clearly prefers dialysis to a transplant. That’s her choice. Perhaps she doesn’t find dialysis an inconvenience.

      • david7134 says:

        Jeff,
Let me point out something, you do this constantly. For some reason you assume that the woman likes dialysis. You have no proof, no where does the story address this. But you make a bold statement about a complex situation. With the other commenters here you assume that we hold certain beliefs when there is no aspect of the conversation that would lead a reasonable person to such a conclusion. And you are wrong the majority of the time.

As to name calling, sorry, you engage in that activity well before others do. Dana bends over backward to be polite to you, yet you constantly call him and others names or try some statements to humiliate the individual. Your efforts only show extreme immaturity. Besides, if others are doing something, is it the place of an adult to copy bad behavior.

I seriously doubt you know much about transplants except as it might influence you trying to peddle you medications,

So according to you, a non physician, being hospitalized is the going criterion for the severity of Demofascist flu? Wrong again idiot. Hospitalization is the last resort and I refused it. Personally. By not allowing the EMS to be called. You don’t know jack shit asshole.

You hate the fact that as a “vaccinated” person I still got the Lyin-biden Flu and pissed I lived through it. It’s been one week on therapeutics and I feel fine.

Ya know dickhead, instead of doing everything in your power to cover up other forms of treatment that can save other people’s lives I should think you’d be happy to learn these medicines, drugs and vitamins work.
