Wake County Considering Mask Mandate

This should certainly help entice those who are vaccine hesitant to rush out and get the jabs, right?

Wake County looks to join rest of Triangle on mask mandate

Wake County mayors will meet Friday to discuss a mask mandate, according to Raleigh Mayor Mary Ann Baldwin.

Baldwin said the mayors will meet at 10 a.m. on Friday to discuss the mandate.

“We are working with the county and have been for the past week,” said Baldwin. “Most recently, our county health experts came to us and said, ‘We need to require a mask mandate.'”

Baldwin said that if all mayors approved a mask mandate — one could be in effect later on Friday.

“My goal is to have something in place by 1 o’clock [Friday] so our small businesses and other places are protected by Friday night,” said Baldwin.

One question is whether a county mandate would impact cities, or just county run areas. Another is whether cities truly have that power to implement mask mandates on private property. A third will be “will the non-Democrat run cities agree and enforce?” Because lots ignored the state mandate, and rarely checked. A fourth will be “why? They didn’t work the first time. What makes you think masks will make any difference at all a second time?” Another is “is there something they’re not telling us about regarding the vaccines and hospitalization rates? Because we’ve been told if you have the jab and get sick it’ll be like getting a minor cold. Is that not true?”

Wake County announced a plan to give $250 and 2 paid days off to any employee who gets the vaccine. Think they will take the county up on that when it would mean nothing in their lives? No change? Still having to mask up with worthless cloth masks that do nothing?

A better idea would be to reimplement social distancing protocols, and reinforce washing hands and not touching your face.

Raleigh Mayor Mary-Ann Baldwin met with Wake Forest Mayor Vivian Jones, Wake County Commissioner Matthew Calabria, Associate Medical Director and Epidemiology Program Director for Wake County Nicole Mushonga, among others, to discuss a potential countywide mandate.

“I’ve spoken with a number of business owners who are asking for. They feel that it reinforces the importance of people wearing masks, and you know there are others who are very against this, but I feel that leadership requires us to do what’s right,” Baldwin said.

If business owners want to require masks in their own businesses, let them. There are still several places, restaurants mostly, which require. I go in, get my food, leave. That’s their business, 5-10 minutes doesn’t bother me. But they want to force their beliefs on everyone.

She (Wake Forest mayor Jones, who is against this) also brought up a series of other concerns from there being no law that says one can’t wear a mask and how the mask mandate can be enforced.

How will you enforce this without legally passed legislation that conforms to the NC Constitution, since the state has not passed any law allowing this at this time.

Calabria also said he expects to have documentation outlining regulations for Wake County by next Friday, even though Baldwin is looking to put a mask mandate in place by this evening.

So there’s no law giving them this authority? Nor even regulations? Under what state statute is this enforceable? The state has the ultimate authority.

Justice Barrett Rejects Indiana U. Students’ Vaccine Mandate Challenge

The conservative Judge who the left thought would throw them under the bus because they can’t rubber stamp stuff through the court has ruled in favor of the LEFT….again.

    Why.

Vaccine mandates are a real thing. The state, local and national government can mandate vaccines. So the anti-vaxxers have no leg to stand on.

I waited until the end of July to let things shake out on the vaccines. I figured if they were basically unsafe 8-9 months into mass vaccinations not to mention months of trials would find the warts.

I took the J&J shot about 2 weeks ago plus, my mild covid symptoms are gone and I feel okay other than I will say that as a person who suffers with Allergies the shot did cause my allergies to flare up rather notoriously for about a week, but they are calming down now.

Just get the shot. Sorry if that makes me a traitor to the cause, but the government can mandate you get the shot and if you don’t then businesses can mandate you don’t come visit them. For what? I am as paranoid as they come and I got the shot.

It wont work. It will reduce hospitalizations drastically but you can and will still get covid in the coming months and perhaps a few years.

But remember one thing, most viruses become less lethal the longer they survive…they do this to keep themselves from going extinct.

Go ahead and beat on me now for coping out to the powers that be. Now masks….yeah Im anti masks until we get real quality masks and not this cheap shit coming from china.

    • Doesn’t make you a traitor. Heck, Trump is the one who pushed for them, and to get emergency use status. I got mine the minute I was able to. I fully support them. I think everyone should. Even it it means you can still get COVID, it will mostly mean the symptoms will be like a mild cold. And, since this really seems to be manufactured in a lab, it keeps changing, so, it will be around for a long time.

There’s no credible evidence that SARS-CoV-2 was manufactured in a lab. Highly transmissible RNA viruses have incredibly fast mutation rates (less gene repair than DNA viruses). Reproducing in 100s of millions of human incubators allows for a lot of mutations. Most mutations are damaging but some can confer a selective advantage, such as not being recognized by antibodies, tighter binding to receptors, greater stability etc.

Yes there is and mountains of it. You just (once again) would rather side with your commie pals than accept the evidence. Just like you did after WATCHING video of the election steal.

If you disagree with something no amount of evidence in the world can change your mind. You are the most closed minded monkey we’ve ever seen.

Why do you always side with our enemies?

Why yes, yes there is. And they are fudging the stats.

On May 1, 2021, the CDC changed the definition of a ‘positive’ case for a PCR test depending on whether the subject is vaccinated. For unvaccinated subjects, the PCR test continued to use the aggressively high cycle threshold of 40+ and if the test came back positive, the unvaccinated patient was considered to have COVID-19, even if they were asymptomatic. However for vaccinated subjects, a positive case was now defined differently — the cycle threshold was lowered (28 or fewer) which meant far less chance for the test to recognize a viral marker. Additionally, if vaccinated subjects were asymptomatic or had only mild symptoms, the tests were now declared to be negative because under the new rules, a vaccinated subject would only be considered COVID-positive, if they were hospitalized or died.

To compare an unvaccinated asymptomatic subject whose only marker for COVID is a highly upcycled PCR test against vaccinated patients who were hospitalized or died is the very definition of comparing apples and oranges.

The masks are simply political theater or virtue signaling, depends on the circumstance. The idea of stopping a sub micron virus with a filter that is at best 3 microns is suspect at best. These people have more up their sleeve.
The Vax Passport is more sinister, how far are we from tattoos on our forearms?
If a business requires a mask or Vax Passport, they certainly can thrive without my business and I won’t shed a tear if they close. Government requiring masks or Vax Passports is a significant move towards totalitarianism. My ancestors fought for freedom, not totalitarianism.
Thanks for a few free states.

      • A minimal vaccine passport could have worked, but, Dems started implying they’d be much more intrusive and stuff, so, people resisted immediately. I was in favor of a basic one, that simply showed vaccination, and that’s it. No tracking, no other info, not linked into the feds

Enough debates. Just go out and get it already. It protects you, your family and everyone else in the community. It’s been scientifically, mathematically and statistically proven to make everyone safer. The communities that got them are overwhelmingly safer. The chances of side effects or accidents are so unbelievably small that it’s completely absurd not to get one already.
