CNN: It’s Time To Make COVID Vaccinations Mandatory

Of course CNN is fear mongering on the Delta variant

Delta variant is ‘Covid-19 on steroids,’ expert says, with cases increasing in nearly half of US states

Twenty four states have seen an uptick of at least 10% in Covid-19 cases over the past week as health experts and the federal government keep pressing for more people to get vaccinated.

The rapid spread of the Delta variant of the coronavirus has only ratcheted up the pressure.

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Tuesday that the variant, first identified in India, has accounted for more than half of all new Covid-19 infections in the country.

“We should think about the Delta variant as the 2020 version of Covid-19 on steroids,” Andy Slavitt, a former senior adviser to Joe Biden’s Covid Response Team, told CNN on Wednesday. “It’s twice as infectious. Fortunately, unlike 2020, we actually have a tool that stops the Delta variant in its tracks: It’s called vaccine.”

See, now this may be true. It may be something to be concerned with. But, after all the lying, over-hype, scaremongering, and authoritarianism since February 2020, I’m going to look at this with a jaded eye. How about you?

Enough: It’s time to make vaccinations mandatory

It is time to impose vaccine mandates and passports. The Covid-19 vaccines continue to perform extraordinarily well, but the rate of infection is worsening in unvaccinated populations. The Delta variant is offering a sobering reminder that the pandemic has faded in much of the country but certainly not ended.

Both political parties have made the mistake of framing vaccines within the tradition of individualism. Even President Joe Biden, who has demonstrated his comfort with a muscular role for government, keeps appealing to individuals to make the right and patriotic choice when it comes to receiving their jabs.

Governors are imploring residents of their states to vaccinate soon. For many, the goal has been to keep making it as easy as possible for persons to have quick access without being too overtly pushy. Incentives, from multimillion-dollar lotteries to baseball tickets to a shot and a beer, have all been thrown in as part of the package. The message has been that the government will keep making vaccines as easy, accessible and attractive as possible.

It’s not enough. Easy, accessible and attractive are important; nobody should face barriers toward receiving vaccines. But citizens must also not see this as an optional inoculation.

Biden and other political leaders need to start thinking about the good of the collective and not just the rights of the individual. Doing so is not some sort of move toward socialism, as conservative critics inevitably argue. Thinking of the common good is as American as apple pie

Totally not a move towards Socialism. Not by Political Theory standards. More like dipping into the Authoritarian model. Because that’s where Progressivism lies. Nice Fascism. The nice not meaning “they are good people and this stuff is good”, nice meaning “this is for your own good, suck it up and deal with it.” Rather like your parents forcing you to eat stuff that you hate that’s supposed to be good for you. Banning you to your room. Forcing you to get a tattoo that shows you were vaccinated.

This won’t happen. Even Joe Biden isn’t that dumb to attempt to push this for real, nor the craziest governors like Gretchen Whitmer and Andrew Cuomo. You aren’t seeing this in countries with a heck of a lot less freedom, like England, Germany, and France. India, Japan, Russia. But, you can bet that CNN’s “political analyst” Julian Zelizer isn’t the only hardcore leftist thinking this or proposing this.

Psaki encourages private companies to use vaccine passports: ‘That’s an innovative step that they will take’
Some colleges, cruise lines, and other private entities have started mandating vaccines

It will soon become a reality as the left climbs in bed with Big business, Corporate Wall Street, Big TECH and Big PHARMA.

I can’t believe the left is raping the planet of resources to produce 15 billion doses of vaccine even as BIG PHARMA SWEARS you will need a booster every year.

Remember DRUG MAKERS DON’T make money on a single use Drug. They make money on something you need to repeat or take regularly. Like Statins, Blood Pressure, Pain Medication or Benzodiazepines(Valium, Xanax etc.)

Socialism always, always promises that everything will be sweetness and light, if only we’ll all cooperate. Then, when we don’t all cooperate, the Police Power of the State is used.

  3. Elwood P. Dowd says:

Mandatory smallpox vaccinations started in 1922 in many public school systems. That’s nearly a century ago! BTW, smallpox as a disease has been eliminated from Earth – by widespread vaccination. Effective vaccines for poliomyelitis were developed in the 50s and 60s and eliminated polio in the Western world.

Are any public health mandates justified?

Frankly, I do not worry about the effects of the Delta variant on “Patriots” who fear the vaccinations, it’s their life. And death. If they are prepared to die to spite libs, more power to them. But what’s the moral calculus when a carrier “Patriot” infects a child or an immune-compromised elder who dies? Recall over 600,000 Americans have died from Covid, so far.

Wearing seatbelts is mandatory. As are airbags – if you buy a new car you are FORCED BY GOV’T to purchase safety equipment you may not want. How many Americans have died unnecessarily by refusing to be vaccinated? We have laws against public urination, defecation, even expectoration , all based on health concerns. Of course it’s a “Patriots” business if they do not mind dying. Should we refuse to treat unvaccinated Americans, as it’s very expensive? Should we hold unvaccinated liable for spreading disease?

Thank the gods that Covid-19 is of relatively low virulence. Let’s hope the next global pandemic is as well. And let’s thank the scientists, pharma companies and gov’t/business cooperation that delivered vaccines quickly, vaccines whose efficacy and AE profiles exceeded all expectations.

BTW, it’s not known if year boosters are needed. Virus surveillance will determine the match between vaccines and variants. The mRNA vaccine technology makes rapid changes possible. Fewer cases will mean fewer variants and reduced chances of vaccine-evading variants.

Correct. But what you are missing is that the smallpox vaccination was not required by the Federal government which is what CNN is calling for by stating:

Biden and other political leaders need to start thinking about the good of the collective and not just the rights of the individual.

The Supreme Court has already settled that you cannot force someone to be vaccinated. You can only fine them for failing to do so (within the 8th Amendment to be sure.)

      Wearing seat belts is mandatory.

And yet many people do not wear them. Furthermore, once again, the wearing of seat belts is not mandated by Federal law. It is state law.

But seat belts are a good example of what people are concerned with. If you remember, the laws for seat belts were only secondary charges. One could not be stopped by the police for not wearing a seat belt. Now in most states, failure to wear a seat belt is a primary cause for stops. If you believe the folks on the left, such pretextual stops adversely affect minorities more that white Americans.

As you always like to point out, is your defense of seat belts the fact that you think minorities cannot make decisions that are beneficial to their heath? That minorities need to be told what to do?

The correlation is interesting as while you are railing against “patriots,”: the fact of the matter is that minorities have a lower vaccination rate than non-minorities. Are you now abandoning your premise that minorities cannot make decisions that are beneficial for themselves and must be forced into it by the government?

As are airbags – if you buy a new car you are FORCED BY GOV’T to purchase safety equipment you may not want.

That would be the air bags that ended up killing and maiming people by exploding shards of metal?

I understand your point, but it seems hypocritical on some level. You are fine with people killing children under the premise “my body, my choice,” but want people to be vaccinated against their will?

      We get it.

The government – not Trump nor Biden because neither is smart enough nor trained to understand the science – the government screwed up the reaction to COVID as they chased their tail trying to figure out something to do, even if that something wasn’t right. People like Fauci lied to presidents, lied to Congress and lied to the American people, and yet he still has a job.

It seems that many people – rightfully or wrongfully – are simply saying “we don’t know the long term effects of the vaccine as there has not been any studies done. That was not the case for the smallpox vaccine which was studied for years before some states made it mandatory.

But we get it. You and others want to hate the right (without saying anything about those on the left that don’t want to get vaccinated) because you hate the right. We all understand why.

After all, all the left has is hate.

  4. Kye says:

A lot of foolish things are mandatory. Like seat belts. But the state has no right to mandate a drug that is not FDA approved and use society at large as a testing experiment. We have every right to refuse this vaccination. Panic and fear are the friends and tools of the American fascists
Red commenter has been promoting panic and fear for 15 months now just like his Nazi sponsor Soros told him to.

Comparing Wuhan to smallpox or polio is just a scare tactic. The left loves to scare people into compliance either by fear mongering or government threats like Elwood is advocating. Nazi’s will Nazi.

    Why does Elwood hate America?

BTW I noticed the fraud leader was sporting an American flag lapel pin over the weekend. First leftist I EVER saw doing that. Must be getting really senile to identify with America.

    Jeff,
When DeSoto arrived in Florida it is estimated that there were about 100 million native Americans in what now is the US. DeSoto traveled from one village to the next, about 20 mile, to the end of his journey in Texas. He carried men who had small pox. Ten years later there were hardly any native Americans left, estimated near 1 million. Now, that is an epidemic. As such mandatory, well tested and analyzed, are justified. In your stupidity you try to claim parody with the current situation, they are not in any way similar. We had an excessive death rate due to stupid people like yourself in the CDC who developed a mandatory state response and highly inflated numbers by hospital administrators.

No, I will not provide a web article to justify this as I am an expert and primary source. You are a stupid child man who only desire to inflame emotions like a grade school child.

  7. Kye says:

Where did that oft repeated but never proved figure of 100 million Indians come from? According to history there were only 450 million people in the entire world in DeSoto’s day and they’re trying to convince me one quarter of them were in a hitherto unknown area? I’m not buying it. It’s a made up number to make the “Indian Genocide” look even worse to benefit the lefts hateful anti White anti American narrative.

File that with leftist bullshit along side of there was no cheating in the last election, Wuhan killed 650,000 Americans and the protest on 1/6 was an “armed insurrection”.

Why do they hate America and Whites so much?

    • david7134 says:

      Kye,
Likely a liberal number. I think I picked it up from the book 1493. But think Stone Age culture of native Americans did take a big hit.

  8. david7134 says:

One other concept for the troll. All cultural myths have a flood story. That includes societies not in contact in their development.

  9. Kangarew says:

This started with “Two weeks to flatten the curve”. Well, by the time the Democrats got through with it, most small businesses were flattened, and the rich donors were even richer. They were lying then and they are lying now.
