The Department of Justice under Biden sent the FBI to arrest a guy for his twitter comments.
What was so egregious from this man that he is facing 10 years in prison?
He put out memes about democrats making fun of them. No where or not once did he suggest anyone should not vote. He simply made fun of Democrats through memes.
He is charged with preventing people from voting.

Ricky Vaughn aka Douglass Mackey was arrested on federal election interference charges related to a disinformation campaign during the 2016 election. Mackey who hides behind the “Ricky Vaughn” moniker on twitter is a white supremacist troll and Trump supporter who conspired with others to suppress voters. Others include “Baked Alaska” Gionet, another white supremacist who was also arrested for his role in the Capitol assault, and “Microchip”, a neoNazi and Qanoner.
“There is no place in public discourse for lies and misinformation to defraud citizens of their right to vote,†acting United States Attorney Seth D. DuCharme said on Wednesday. “With Mackey’s arrest, we serve notice that those who would subvert the democratic process in this manner cannot rely on the cloak of Internet anonymity to evade responsibility for their crimes. They will be investigated, caught and prosecuted to the full extent of the law.â€
Mr Mackey and his co-conspirators will get their day in court.
So Rimjob can get in line if “one in public discourse lies and misinforms in order to defraud citizens of their right to vote.”

So when Trump regains power he can arrest you. It seems that in your world anyone that has another opinion is a white supremacist. And, how do you justify that one group has fewer rights than another.

The problem with this case is a simple one. MacKay is being charged under 18 U.S.C. § 241, which states:
If two or more persons conspire to injure, oppress, threaten, or intimidate any person in any State, Territory, Commonwealth, Possession, or District in the free exercise or enjoyment of any right or privilege secured to him by the Constitution or laws of the United States, or because of his having so exercised the same…They shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than ten years, or both.
MacKay did not “injure, oppress, threaten, or intimidate” anyone.
Secondly, the Feds acknowledge that some 4000 people in MacKay’s twitter feed texted back to the number, there is no evidence that these people 1)did not vote in the election, 2) realized it was a joke, or any other combination of things.
Case law is specific – this type of charge requires a direct action against a direct target. A meme is not a “direct action.”
The case fails out of the box.
But Elwood is right. MacKay will have his day in court. It will cost him thousands and thousands of dollars to show that this is bogus. (“You can beat the rap, but you can’t beat the ride.)
What is missing here is the consequences for political speech. Both parties engage in speech that often contains lies and misinformation. Networks and talking heads deal with lies and misinformation in order to get someone to vote for the candidate of the liars choice. MacKay’s charge puts everyone at risk.
Finally, who gets to decide what is “truth” and what is “lies and misinformation?”
The government? Prosecutors?
