New Talking Poll: People Want New COVID Relief Over ACB

This is what you call a push/pull, because it was designed to elicit a very specific response

Yahoo News/YouGov poll: As opposition to Trump’s pandemic approach grows, most voters want Senate to pass stimulus before considering Amy Coney Barrett

As the Senate begins confirmation hearings for Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett, two-thirds of voters say Congress should focus instead on passing more COVID-19 relief for struggling workers and businesses, according to a new Yahoo News/YouGov poll.

The survey, which was conducted from Oct. 9 to 11, found that large majorities of the public think Congress has its priorities backward. Not only do more than three-quarters (77 percent) of registered voters want legislators to approve another major pandemic relief package; 66 percent want the Senate to vote on it before voting on Barrett’s nomination. A full third of Republicans (33 percent) agree.

The consensus around Congress’s misplaced priorities reflects the deepening influence of COVID-19 on the final days of the 2020 election. While slightly more voters blame Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (43 percent) than President Trump (40 percent) for Washington’s continuing failure to agree on a relief bill, that dynamic has in no way boosted Trump. On the contrary, Trump continues to trail Democratic nominee Joe Biden by 8 percentage points among likely voters (43 percent to 51 percent) in large part because they have taken an even dimmer view of the president’s leadership on COVID-19 in the wake of his own recent hospitalization and the broader White House outbreak that has left dozens infected.

Pretty much most of the poll is meant to bash Trump and Republicans, and attempt to sway squishy GOP Senators into shutting down the hearings, stopping a vote, or, at least, vote against ACB. In the Age Of McCain, they might have gotten this. But, these days, even squishy Lindsay Graham has a spine.

Democrats need to just give it up. They never figured out how to attack her like they did with Kavanaugh. You just got silly questions on abortion and Obamacare, and, heck, Sheldon Whitehouse didn’t even ask a question, just yammered on about dark money and stuff.

Increasing the number of justices on the Supreme Court while Constitutional is just not right.

Just as rushing through a nominee before the President loses is Constitutional but just not right.

But those silly norms have changed!

Mitch McConnell said that he would wait for the new president to pick the Next Supreme court nominee.

President Barack Obama made two successful appointments to the Supreme Court of the United States. A third was never in the books because no matter who was nominated the GOP would have turned him down in a vote.

Hence to avoid a defeat for Obama, he said lets wait.

Why would he do that? The truth be known it was a huge gamble. If HRC took the presidency which all the polling at the time had her in a landslide right up to election day, and along with those coat tails the Senate could have been lost as well.

Trump and this senate serve until January 20th 2021. There is no reason for the GOP to take this nomination and push it through. That is politics. Everyone knows that if the tables were turned and the democrats were in this same position they would be forcing through their nominee without waiting.

That is political reality. What is often over looked in the Obama case is that everyone expected the next president to be a democrat and EVERYONE believed the Senate would flip to the Democrats.

Mitch Waited because it was precedent taking a great risk because indeed Obama’s third nominee was pretty moderate given what he could have tried to push thorough and what HRC most likely would have had to push through.

President Trump serves until at least January 20, 2021, but the Congress serves only until January 3, 2021.

          @Dana

Your right. This was a rushed post. I didn’t even check it for typos, errors or lack of clarity and brevity.

The point remains HRC was considered the next president in a landslide when McConnell made that decision to wait. Everyone was expecting the Democrats would flip the Senate as well. Given the circumstance Obama had already made 2 picks it is not like he was unfairly treated as per the Supreme Court.

However what the left has done to Trump the last 3 plus years I hope another democrat retires today and Trump leaves the Democrats 4 picks. Hell ACB will probably end up being the next RBG anyway since Kavanaugh sides more with democrats on issues on the court than he does with the Right.

But that is the chance you take when you nominate a judge who follows the constitution instead of legislating from the bench. A position the Democrats demand of their supreme court nominees.

the Lefties have been destroying norms for better than 50 years.

As for “increasing the number of justices on the Supreme Court”, that’s a lie.

I know the Left is down to nothing since they can’t put Chlamydiya on the campaign trail and Gropin’ Joe is looking like he won’t make it to November, but, when you get stupid in your desperation, it really shows.

And who is the Left to say what’s right? Trump’s about as likely to lose as you are to grow a brain.

On the subject of what’s right in the eyes of the Left, here’s this,

2020 is a political revolution. Want to change this country, with violence…there’s only one way to do it. Guillotines mother fu(ker; Killing random Nazis in the street

I am going to do everything morally acceptable to win. I will lie. I will cheat. I will steal. Because that’s morally acceptable in this political environment.

Last night, somewhere in these precincts, I was dumb enough to joke that at least Judge Barrett hadn’t been accused of rape yet.

    Talk about spoke too soon.

On the link you posted formwiz I read a few comments.

This one stood out to me:

If we have the green deal, there is no airplanes or cruise ships. Starve Hawaii.

This is how you know people really don’t believe the shit that comes out of democrats mouths or else Hawaii would vote GOP Overwhelmingly.
