Michigan House Won’t Extend State of Emergency, Votes to Sue Gov. Gretchen Whitmer Instead
The Michigan House of Representatives declined to extend Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s state of emergency another 28 days, and instead voted on Thursday to sue her.
Whitmer’s initial state of emergency order, which is separate from the stay-at-home order, expires on Thursday and requires legislative action to be lengthened.
Negotiations on that front fell apart on Wednesday when Whitmer refused to make any concessions on the matter, asserting she has the ultimate control of emergencies.
So the House voted to authorize Speaker Lee Chatfield to sue the governor, saying Whitmer’s “unchecked and undemocratic approach†is not the best way, ABC 12 reported.
“The current status quo relies on one-size-fits-all edicts that unfairly punish millions of people across the state without giving them any recourse or voice in the process,†Chatfield said.
“The people deserve a better solution, and we can provide it.â€

I can’t speak to MI or any other state but here in the Philly suburbs in PA I have many many friends and acquaintances I’ve made after 40 years in business and being active in many charities in my area (From Shriner’s Hospital for Children, to the VFW, to my church) and today I heard of two that have gone out of business WAITING for the CARES Act which never came. My wife also applied and that is in limbo also. Seems after the billionaires and millionaires get through thee is noting left in the trough for the small guys who this “was intended to rescue after they forced our businesses to close”.

These men have families and now are in fear of losing their homes and everything else they have including, and Very Importantly, their good credit scores which are very difficult to repair and takes years to do so. It is a fukin’ crime what is happening to these guys. One owns a pizza shop and one owns a dry cleaner.
I’m in contact with dozens if not hundreds of business people in my community and in the Asian community and this was a wholly avoidable calamity. All any Gov. had to do was issue avoidance regs. for the elderly and infirm and let everybody else go about their business. Some people are gonna die just like in any flu but killing the income and wealth of everyone else is the single stupidest thing I ever witnessed in my life. And the taking of our God given Constitutional rights just shows the whole this was just a set up for future poer grabs.
