NY Times: Say, Let’s Call It The Trumpvirus

Remember, Democrats get very upset when Trump supporters say they are using the Coronavirus for their nefarious political purposes. They’re running article after articles, opinion piece after opinion piece, telling us how Doomed we are and that Orange Man Bad. Paul Krugman has a pretty hot take about when a pandemic meets a personality cult, and the Washington Post editorial board is whining about “mixed messages”, you know, as President Trump attempts to keep people from panicking. And don’t forget about all the pieces linking Coronavirus to ‘climate change.’ But, then, there’s Gail Collins

At least during the Bush 43 years most of the Credentialed Media attempted to hide their derangement syndrome most of the time. Unless you were Maureen Dowd. Gail has lost it

So, our Coronavirus Czar is going to be … Mike Pence. Feeling more secure?

“I know full well the importance of presidential leadership,” the vice president said as soon as he was introduced in his new role.

Totally qualified. First criteria for every job in this administration is capacity for praising the gloriousness of our commander in chief.

Yeah, when you think of Mike Pence you maybe don’t think about Pandemic Fighter Supreme. But as President Trump pointed out repeatedly, he has already run Indiana.

Well, it probably could have been worse. Having a czar does make you feel there’s somebody in charge. At least Trump didn’t come before the cameras and announce solemnly, “Today I’m asking every American to cross your fingers.”

There they go, making up stuff again.

Our president had to be going crazy over a problem that involves both declining stock prices and germs. This is the guy, after all, who thinks shaking hands is “barbaric,” who is followed around by aides bearing sanitizer. During his press conference he told the story of a fever-ridden supporter who gave him a hug. Do you think it was an apocryphal fantasy? Either way, the idea has been haunting him forever.

Um, people’s hands are pretty nasty. Just look at the conditions of their smartphones. Remember, people are using their smartphones while sitting on the john, and, maybe they wash their hands, but, they are not cleaning their phones.

(lots and lots of whining which is totally not political because the media is non-political, you know)

Azar just chuckled. Actually, people, this is probably not a theme we ought to be pursuing. Chances are, if the president is encouraged to mix the subjects of coronavirus and Mexico walls, he’ll suddenly announce that we need a barrier much bigger and thicker and more expensive, so it can stop the flow of immigrant germs.

Deranged.

Remember, these are the same people that gave Bush tons of shit because he didn’t run in a screaming panic from an elementary class room on 9/11.

This Coronavirus will likely be just like the Swine flu panic, the bird flu panic and every other flu panic over the last, well, forever.

While the potential is there for this to turn into something major, all indications show that it is unlikely. This is an election year and since Russia,Russia, Russia failed, impeachment failed and the Dems have noting but losing prospects back biting to get the nomination, they HAVE to create panic over this, blame Trump and get all the help they can from their MSM pals.

Trump is handling this exactly as he should and that infuriates them even more.

Since Trump is the Law, why doesn’t he shut down the NYTs?

Or maybe sue them for libel?

After all, the NYTs et al are the “enemy of the people”.

  3. Elwood P. Dowd says:

Who do you believe engineered this coronavirus scam to harm trump?

Dems? Media? Deep State? Worldwide Communists? Greta Thunberg? Cult of Climastrology? CDC? Allah? NATO? WHO? Bernie Sanders?

Red Chinese germ warfare lab right down the road from Wuhan.

Most of these bugs come out of Red China.

      Funny how that works.

Perhaps a dose of reality is in order. In my classes I have noticed the virus has taken on a political tone that is scary to say the least. The same thing happened in the early 80’s when HIV began popping up around the world. Fear. SARS and MEV was a blip on the radar, because it was not very infectious. Deadly to be sure but not very infectious. HIV was a horror show because if you had sex you could get it. If someone in the same town as you had HIV you could be infected. None of that was true but the whole story, but truth died when the people panicked.

What one has to remember is that the truth is the first casualty in war. A tired saying but true never the less. In this case it does not matter where the truth lies, it only matters in how the governments are perceived in dealing with this truth.

Today the right does not trust the government except when it comes to dealing with the virus because it affects them politically. The left does not trust the government because Trump is in charge and of course we know their feelings for him.

In this case I would like to point out a few facts.

Panic is gripping the world. It does not matter if it is rational or not. It is happening.

Entire countries are locking down their means of production. This will inevitably lead to shortages of food, medicine and raw materials which will end up causing the loss of jobs, wages and property. No amount of the government claiming it is okay will help when people worldwide tend not to trust their own governments any more than the United States trusts theirs.

This virus is much more likely to spread and faster. When confronted with a healthy healthcare infrastructure the chances of dying are slim.

The problem is in trusting the infrastructure to not be overwhelmed. This is appearing not to be the case. One has only to look at China, South Korea, Japan, Italy, Iran and others to see that this will swamp a country very quickly.

And finally I would say once again it does not matter where the truth lies. In the end it only matters in the repercussions of human activity when faced with the uncertainty. We are a nation who does not trust our own government on either side of the political spectrum and use it to arm us to fight each other.

Why I have concerns is one fold. The CDC could not even provide adequate test kits when asked to do so. The ones they provided were flawed and as a result the United States weather on purpose or by incompetence has only tested 400 plus people nation wide. We are now learning bits and pieces of information about people locked down, California claiming they have 33 cases not reported by the government.

The lack of transparency because of fears of a meltdown economically are understandable but they only lead to more panic.

COVID-19 is relatively easy to treat. A simple blood pressure medicine is showing promising signs. Losartan. The virus tries to constrict the vessels in the body and shut down the flow of oxygen. Losartan simply coats the receptors and prevents COVID-19 from attaching and creating panic in the body. RNA vaccines show extreme promise in that they are injected into the body and order your immune system to confound and confuse the COVID-19 without actually injecting you with something that could be detrimental in the long run.

    So.

Relax people. We will get through this. Just like no one gives much attention to HIV anymore other than to think a bit more carefully about their sexual habits.

  5. Elwood P. Dowd says:

Viruses bind to cells and inject their genetic apparatus essentially hijacking the cellular metabolic machinery to manufacture more viruses.

Covid-19 likely uses ACE2 as one point of entry into human cells. ACE2 is a cell-surface enzyme that normally converts circulating angiotensinII to angiotensin(1-7), which opposes the vasoconstrictor properties of AII. But ACE2 does not have wide distribution in tissues.

A recent report demonstrated a mutation in the Covid-19 surface “spike” protein resulting in a “furin cleavage site” similar to those found in HIV and Ebola viruses. The human enzyme furin can cleave proteins resulting in virus binding to the human cells. This MAY explain why Covid-19 is more easily spread than the similar SARS or MERS. The good news is that there ARE effective anti-viral drugs that inhibit the enzymatic action of furin. Worldwide, scientists are making great strides in understanding this virus.

Losartan has been shown to INCREASE ACE2 expression (at least in cardiac tissues), suggesting it may make people MORE susceptible.

At this time, Covid-19 is not relatively easy to treat, any more than influenza is easy to treat (since 10s of thousands of Americans die from it each year).

Can you direct us to the paper showing Losartan may block Covid-19 interaction with ACE2?

But you are correct in that we will survive this. One commenter here predicted 5 BILLION would be infected and some 100 million would die from it. That is highly unlikely.

Anyway, HIV doesn’t attract attention because of the great work of scientists in developing anti-viral drugs specific for HIV.

Mr Science is going to global nonsense us some more.

Of 84,000 cases, 37,000 have fully recovered.

It can be killed with Lysol or Clorox.

Losartan seems to be a good, not bad, blocker.

So he lies. As always. They used to hang people like him for spreading panic.

      Sounds like a good idea.

HIV doesn’t attract attention because it’s original acronym was WOGS (Wrath Of God Syndrome).
