Dick’s Sporting Goods Anti-Gun Stance Cost Them $250 Million

I’m sure the CEO and top folks didn’t lose anything for their Wokeness, right?

Dick’s CEO Says Anti-Gun Policy Shrank Company by a ‘Quarter Billion Dollars’

The CEO of Dick’s Sporting Goods told CBS News this weekend that his decisions to stop selling certain guns and hire lobbyists to push for new gun bans have cost his company roughly $250 million.

CBS Sunday Morning host Lee Cowan asked Dick’s CEO Ed Stack how much his company lost after the retailer decided to stop selling firearms to anyone under the age of 21.

“About a quarter of a billion,” Stack replied. “Pretty close.”

Stack also said the company destroyed $5 million worth of rifle inventory because Stack believed no one should be allowed to own them.

“I said, ‘You know what? If we really think these things should be off the street, we need to destroy them,'” he told CBS.

Well, that’s awesome. That showed those gun companies, right? Wait, Dick’s already paid for the firearms? And the gun companies lost nothing? Huh.

“The hunting category is a sizeable part of our business; however, there has been an overall slowdown in sales in this category since the announcement of our new firearms policy,” the annual report read. “Despite this, we continue to believe that implementing this new policy is the right decision for our athletes and our communities. In fact, if we could go back and revisit it, we would still make the same choice today.”

Remember, Dick’s didn’t just get rid of those scary “assault weapons”, but all guns in a sizable portion of its stores. Even ones strictly for hunting. Because that’s the real agenda of the gun grabbers, disarm law abiding citizens.

Dicks is biblically traded so this CEO is going to be in trouble with his share holders. I hope he likes being in court.

  3. david7134 says:

Biblically is supposed to be publically.

    • Kye says:

I kinda liked “biblically” because I pictured this pompous ass being throne into a lions den.

Should be a slam dunk shareholder lawsuit.

Why is he even the CEO. They can be fired.

Just as a matter of interest if DICKS has disposed of these weapons would they not be able to claim that back on there TAX as a tax write off.

    • gitarcarver says:

Tax write offs / credits are available for outdated or obsolete inventory. One would not think that brand new, current guns would fall into that category.

A local radio ad in upstate NY goes (roughly, from memory): Liberal, Conservative, Cupcake, Neanderthal; Life is full of labels, but we only care about the labels that matter – like Ruger, Smith & Wesson and Glock,, (ad goes on & ends with): Upstate Guns and Ammo – because we’re Not… DICKS

Dick’s is a private business, and has every right to conduct its business as it sees fit. I am a consumer, and have every right to spend my money where I see fit.

How many and how often does the typical hunter buy a new rifle or shotgun?

How often do they buy hunting gear, e.g., packs, camo, insulation, blaze orange, gloves, handwarmers, scents, boots, gasoline, food, cooking utensils, campers etc.

      • formwiz says:

Which has what do to with anything?

It’s the number of hunters that switch over to Cabela’s, not what any given hunter buys in any given year.

This is why you never pay attention to any Lefty talking economics.

        Jeff,
Amazing how you speak out about things for which you have no knowledge whatsoever.

Guns are an integral part of a sports store. Traditionally guns do not provide much profit if any. They are called a lostleader. People will be drawn in to look at guns, hold them and purchase ammunition. Then they purchase a new shirt, etc. The fact that Dicks will not offer guns is strange and indicates a change in the pattern of sales. Ok if it works, but if it does not work the CEO will be held accountable.

    • Kye says:

Dick’s is a private business and has every right to conduct its business in any way that THE LEFTIST ESTABLISHMENT sees fit. FIFY. Since we all know that Dick’s has the “right” to refuse service to citizens armed with lawful weapons or wearing MAGA hats, but never to people wearing “Che” shirts or men in dresses using the girls room. So they are free to conduct business in a Politically Correct manner and ignore the Constitution since that old worthless rag was only intended to rein in government not insure rights and freedom across the land. Dick’s can’t discriminate against blacks, queers or Mohammadans but I bet they can against conservatives and Christians. I bet they’d carry Che shirts but not Trump shirts. Ditto with Planned Parenthood vs pro life.

Dick’s is crushing guns how soon before Amazon figuratively starts “burning” books (by vanishing them from sale)?

      • Elwood P. Dowd says:

The Constitution does not obligate private businesses to sell AR-15s. Choosing not to sell them does not violate the US Constitution.

Ever hear of “no shirt, no shoes, no service”? Anyway, if there are instances of private businesses refusing to serve MAGA-wearing customers, progresses would consider that unfair, while NuCons would consider that a business right.

Americans are pushing back on openly armed people walking around in stores, restaurants and malls. How are police to know who’s there for shopping and who’s there to shoot Hispanics?

Again, private businesses are not obligated to offer all items. Should Christian bookstores be forced to sell the Quran or books on atheism?

        • Liljeffyatemypuppy says:

Are Christian bakers required to bake wedding cakes for queermos?

          How about Muslim bakers?

          Lolgfy silly little sissybitch https://www.thepiratescove.us/wp-content/plugins/wp-monalisa/icons/wpml_cool.gif

        • formwiz says:

Again, which has what do to with anything?

This is a business issue, not a legal issue. If Dick’s wants to be dicks, that’s their problem.

Americans are pushing back on openly armed people walking around in stores, restaurants and malls.

They are? Which Americans? I hear some Lefties whining, but they’re not Americans.

How are police to know who’s there for shopping and who’s there to shoot Hispanics?

How are they to know which Hispanics are there to shoot Gringos?

        • Kye says:

“The Constitution does not obligate private businesses to sell AR-15s. Choosing not to sell them does not violate the US Constitution.”

Are you putting words in my mouth again, Fredo? I never said businesses were “obligated” to sell anything, did I? My inquiry was why can “private businesses” refuse Americans their God-given and Constitutional rights? Why can a business refuse to serve law abiding Americans wearing lawfully owned and licensed firearms? Do our rights END at their door? Is Starbucks leftist “policy” above our rights and freedoms? Can Dick’s refuse us our free speech while in their stores? Can they refuse service if we’re Christian? Why not? How about refusing blacks? It’s not okay to wave a Nazi flag yet it is okay to wave a communist flag at protests yet the communists killed ten or twenty times more people than the Nazis did. Why is that?

“How are police to know who’s there for shopping and who’s there to shoot Hispanics?” You’ve said some pretty dumb things Fredo but that’s at the top of the list. Do the police today know who’s shopping and who’s there to shoot white people? Not until the shootin’ starts they don’t.

Buying $10 million dollars worth of rifles so you can destroy them. In America, this is called “Commerce”. The Gun manufacturing industry thanks you for your business and offers to sell you as many guns as you like. They encourage Dick’s to do this again real soon.
