Nancy Pelosi, Adam Schiff Say There’s No Point Towards Impeaching Trump

The Resistance on the Left and the #NeverTrumpers on the right are incensed as a bit of Excuse Making happens

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi opposes impeaching President Donald Trump as too divisive: ‘He’s just not worth it’

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was quoted Monday as saying she is not in favor of impeaching President Donald Trump, breaking from other Democrats who are eager to exercise their constitutional power to oust the president from office.

In an exclusive interview with the Washington Post’s Joe Heim, Pelosi said Trump is “just not worth it.”

“I’m not for impeachment,” Pelosi, D-Calif., said. “This is news. I’m going to give you some news right now because I haven’t said this to any press person before.”

To date, Pelosi has demurred on the matter, telling reporters that impeachment and even an indictment were “open questions,” saying she’d like to learn the results of the special counsel Robert Mueller’s report before deciding on a course of action.

While Pelosi is stating her personal preference, she left some wiggle room to launch impeachment proceedings if the report reveals “something so compelling and overwhelming and bipartisan.”

“Impeachment is so divisive to the country that unless there’s something so compelling and overwhelming and bipartisan, I don’t think we should go down that path, because it divides the country,” Pelosi said. “And he’s just not worth it.”

In other words, there hasn’t been anything that qualifies attempting impeachment, which, interestingly, is confirmed by Excitable Adam Schiff

Adam Schiff: Impeachment gamble not worth it without ‘very graphic evidence’

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, D-Calif., rushed to the defense of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Monday, saying only “graphic evidence” would warrant an impeachment gamble against President Trump.

“In the absence of very graphic evidence, it would be difficult to get the support in the Senate needed to make an impeachment successful. Again, my feeling is let’s see what Bob Mueller produces. But the evidence would have to be pretty overwhelming,” Schiff told CNN.

Schiff (along with so many Democrats) has been screeching about all the evidence he has that Trump did Bad Things since before Trump even took office. You can find stories all over the place, like this one from March 3rd and here on February 17th.

Speaker Pelosi is correct. Impeaching Trump is a waste of time, and as unfit and corrupt as he is, he’s “just not worth it.” Clearly she’s also trolling DJ. “Just not worth it,” will irk The Don without end.

And of course Trump has the backstop of the nuGOP who’ve never seen a crime they can’t excuse in the name of political expediency.

The Dems will continue the hearings revealing the feckless nuGOP for what they’ve become.

Teach typed: there hasn’t been anything that qualifies attempting impeachment

It has nothing to do with “qualifies.” Impeachment is a political act. The Repubs impeached President Clinton for lying about oral sex with an intern. Trump is an unindicted (for now) co-conspirator involved in a felony.

    • So, you’re admitting that this whole impeachment schtick is simply politics, because Democrats just can’t MoveOn from Trump beating Hillary fair and square.

      • Elwood P. Dowd says:

Impeachment is how we attempt to remove an unfit president. And of course it’s political. Look at the impeachment of President Clinton. Impeachment is being discussed because DJ Trump is a sui generis corruptocrat.

If Mr. Mueller presents a finding that Trump is indictable for obstruction of justice, or other high crimes and misdemeanors, Congress has to decide if it worth the trouble to impeach him, it which point it depends on the will of the people. Let’s say it’s shown that Trump was involved in money-laundering with the Russians, but before he was president. Is that an impeachable offense? Yes, but will Americans care? Not much, since they already accept that he’s crooked.

Hoyer hits back at Tlaib, Omar, Ocasio-Cortez after Pelosi backs away from Trump impeachment push.

Ahh but Trump wants to be impeached. The Regressive left wants to impeach him. There is going to be at least 100 house members PRIMARIED in 2020 if they dont impeach trump. She has no choice. Trust me they will find something to impeach him for. Perhaps his orange skin is causing too much carbon pollution.

The regressive left will lose their collective minds if they dont impeach trump. I mean after all at least 100 of them ran on I am going to impeach Trump when I get to DC. Comeon guys Trump wants you. Show us what you got. Impeach Trump you cowards.

Here’s what the voters need to know. In 2018 these congress critters who were elected in mostly GOP districts ran a primary that was batshit crazy LEFTIST. Then during the regular campaign they turned into choir boys and girl scouts only to then fall off the Regressive batshit crazy left stage when they were put in congress. Then in 2020 they will go back to their districts with hat in hand and pretend to be these moderate lover girls and boys who just want to get along.

As I see it with Trump surging among democratic plantation dwellers kept their by regressive leftist policies the house, senate and white house will be firmly in the GOP’s hands as long as the never trumpers are primaried and ran out of town.

And remember many of the NU GOP as ElChapo likes to call them are more democratic than the democrats are.

Lil Donnie is afraid and intimidated by Speaker Pelosi, whom he has nicknamed, “Nancy”.

No one wants to peel back and examine the sick psyche of Lil Donnie, but to him Speaker Pelosi is the stern parent whom he could never please.

  5. Elwood P. Dowd says:

Right-wingers criticize Dems who advise to wait and see where the evidence leads. What a concept.

In the current political climate, the bar for impeachment is high – Trump’s actions to trigger impeachment would have to be so obvious and corrupt to even shame the nuGOP into action. Not even lying to investigators about getting a BJ from an intern would do it.

  6. Professor Hale says:

The simple fact is, Trump hasn’t broken any laws. But Impeachment is a political process, not a legal process. If Speaker Pelosi thought it would help her in the 2020 elections, she would be all in on it. Her analysts must be telling her it is a losing issue. She takes a lot of flak for being dumb, but she knows how her bread gets buttered. She doesn’t want to lose the gavel in 2020.

  7. Jl says:

Their “tons” of evidence comes down to “we think orange man bad”. Even the clowns are starting to realize that

  8. Kye says:

People keep repeating impeachment is a political process not a legal process. Then why is there the qualifier that he must be convicted of Treason, Bribery or other high CRIMES and misdemeanors”? If it’s not a legal process what’s with the CRIMES?

Methinks the left is doing one of their “tell a big lie” tactics by making everybody repeat that a criminal action spelled out as a criminal action in the Constitution does not require a High Crime or Misdemeanor. If it requires no crime then upon what grounds is one impeached? Don’t agree with him? Don’t like his party? Just cause you can? That does not echo the same depth of intellect that is basic to the rest of the document and it certainly does not describe a particularly sober form of government.

Also, if impeachment is just a political process why have they spent years and millions trying like hell to find a crime when all they need do is proceed with the political process?

    • Professor Hale says:

This is a philosophical point, so bear with me. I have once heard that in a trial by jury, you don’t need to prove your case under the law. You just need to convince a majority of the jury that you did. Impeachment is the same way. The constitution says “high crimes and misdemeanors”. A misdemeanor is literally a “low crime”. So, it really could be about anything. past congresses have not used this willy-nilly for fear of opening the door to the impeachment process becoming a rubber stamp of party line disapproval. The reality is, if a majority of the House of Representatives votes to impeach, then the charges go to the Senate. No crime needs to be committed. Not even a make-believe crime like “using the N-word”. In our current party-line governance, there is no doubt that Pelosi could get a majority to impeach Trump. We have all seen two straight years of character assassination against him to prepare the way. Even when she says she won’t do it, she declares that he is “unfit”. She could impeach him based on nothing more than hearsay and without presenting any evidence at all… Just like when they passed the ACA to “see what’s in it”. It’s just another vote in the House. The only thing holding Pelosi back is that she believes it will be counter-productive to her party goals. She has calculated the costs and decided it will be bad for her personally.

  9. Professor Hale says:

They have spent all this effort because they know that they can’t remove Trump from office. They will never have enough votes in the Senate to accomplish that. They are playing to a larger audience. This is all about harming Trump’s chances in 2020. The investigations and never ending accusations are all just an extended campaign season with unlimited funding using taxpayers and a captive single-party media. I have to admire Trump for putting up with it every single day.
