Pelosi Looks To Block Trump Building The Wall With Resolution Or Something

Does she realize that she’s playing right into Trump’s hands, since he will now paint her and all those who vote for it as Open Borders idiots? And that the resolution will not pass the Senate?

Pelosi: House moving ‘swiftly’ to block Trump’s emergency declaration

Speaker Nancy Pelosi is throwing her muscle behind a legislative effort to block President Donald Trump’s national emergency declaration, the first formal step to counter Trump and squeeze Republicans on the border wall.

Democrats will introduce legislation Friday to terminate the emergency proclamation and Pelosi is urging House colleagues on both sides of the aisle to support the resolution, according to a letter obtained by POLITICO on Wednesday.

“I write to invite all Members of Congress to cosponsor Congressman Joaquin Castro’s privileged resolution to terminate this emergency declaration,” Pelosi wrote, noting that the House will “move swiftly to pass this bill.”

“The President’s decision to go outside the bounds of the law to try to get what he failed to achieve in the constitutional legislative process violates the Constitution and must be terminated,” she added.

But, is it outside the law? And has she read the Constitution, which tasks the federal government, and, more specifically, the House of Representatives, with protecting the nation from invasion? There are lots of reasons that the lawsuit filed by liberal run states will fail, one of which is that Congress delegated power to do what Trump is doing.

“We have a solemn responsibility to uphold the Constitution, and defend our system of checks and balances against the President’s assault,” Pelosi wrote.

They’re suddenly concerned, after backstopping all of Obama’s massive over-reaches. Anyhow, she won’t get many Republicans to vote for it in the House. I’d be surprised if it is more than four. But, it will pass, because the Democrat Socialists control the House, at which point the Senate has 18 days to vote on it. It would only take four Republicans there for it to pass. While there may be some critics, I’d be surprised if even one Republican votes for it. But, let’s say it passes

Trump would be certain to issue the first veto of his presidency over the measure — though it is unlikely Congress could override him. In the House, more than 50 Republicans would need to join with Democrats to secure the needed 288 votes.

So, it’s an exercise in futility. It would have been easier to just allocate the money to start with, and move on. Also, they should remember that this is Donald Trump. He’s not a squishy Republican who refuses to defend his policies. He will go on the attack.
