Friday Funny: Dreamers Who Walked 250 Miles In Protest Arrested In D.C.

Did you hear about this little demonstration by illegals?

(Global Citizen) Eleven undocumented youths arrived in Washington DC today after trekking for more than 250 miles from New York to protest US President Trump’s elimination of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals Act and the government’s ongoing inaction around its renewal.

The march is called #WalkToStayHome.

“I feel like my parents and people around the country who are undocumented have sacrificed so much,” Li Adorno, one of the Dreamers said at the start of the march, according to Democracy Now.

“And like to this day, they’re criminalized every night in the evening news, right? And we feel like that’s not fair,” she said. “We’re asking for dignity and respect for everyone, right? Not just the DREAMers, because right now we’re getting a lot of attention.

So, wait, they’re calling for the people who “sinned”, ie, their parents, in bringing them to the country to be given legal status, too? Why are illegal aliens demanding anything? They should be pleading, begging, asking nicely, for lawful legal status.

But, do you know what happened?

(USA Today) Four young immigrants were handcuffed and arrested Thursday afternoon while protesting on the streets of Washington, D.C., capping off a 250-march from New York City to the nation’s capital.

Osvaldo Rodriguez, 26, of Red Bank, N.J., blocked an intersection near the U.S. Capitol holding a sign that read, “Build bridges, not walls,” chanting that he was “undocumented and unafraid” before his arrest Thursday afternoon. Aldo Solano, Maria Duarte and Cinthia Garcia Benítez also were arrested, but they were released after paying a ticket.

I’ve read that the number arrested was 6 or 7, but, let’s go with four. Unlike the accompanying picture with the article, they were blocking the entire intersection in front of the Capitol building, and it’s not like a lot of traffic doesn’t go by there during the afternoon.

They were supposedly yelling (video at the link)

“They’re sending us to deportation detention,” the person taking the video is heard saying as she films the incident. All the while, the illegal aliens area heard yelling, “Unafraid! Unafraid!”

They chant that they are “freedom fighters,” and they know how to fight.

And their protest lasted all of a couple minutes after their 250 mile march.

Their goal? To campaign for legislation that would not only offer DACA-eligible people a path to citizenship, but also reject the border wall, restrictions on family-based petitions and increased resources for Immigration and Customs enforcement.Congress has stalled on passing an immigration bill as Republicans pushed for a deal that would grant a pathway to citizenship to 1.8 million young immigrants without legal status in exchange for a border wall and President Trump’s other demands to crack down on illegal immigration.

Their goals are to give people who broken our laws a free pass, and set the conditions for even more illegal aliens to pour into the nation.

ICE should take possession of these illegals and deport them. They have no right to be in the nation, they’re hear in contradiction of federal law, and they damned well should not be demanding anything nor telling us how to go about giving them legal status.

  1. Jeffery says:

Sounds like they have the courage of their convictions.

  2. Jess says:

If they were actual legal immigrants, they wouldn’t have been arrested. The correct term is “children of invaders”.

  3. Dana says:

Jeffrey Jeffery has combitched that ICE has been plucking too much of the ;low-hanging fruit,’ the illegal immigrants who have (purportedly) been otherwise good residents. Thing is, when the low-hanging fruit go right up and announce that they’re here illegally, why shouldn’t they be arrested.

It’s like whipping past a cop at 77 MPH in a 70 MPH zone. He might just leave you alone. But if you flip him the bird as you’re driving past him, well . . . .

      Donna,

As I said, these brave ones demonstrated the courage of their convictions. They knew they were at risk.

Were your parents US citizens? Just asking.

      • formwiz says:

        They were legal.

      • Dana says:

My parents were very much legal citizens. My mother’s family arrived on the Mayflower, 156 years before the Declaration of Independence, while my father’s family were living on Maui before the United States annexed Hawai’i. In effect, my family are not immigrants, but were absorbed by the United States when it was born, and when it took more land.

        • Jeffery says:

          Good to know! Thanks.

If anyone is a native American, I am!

I disagree with this whole ‘nation of immigrants’ bovine feces, because it assumes that no one’s family can ever be here long enough to be native to the country. Thing is, if that’s the case, than the Indians are not native, either, because they came here from somewhere else, purportedly Siberia.

Other than someplace like Iceland, every country on earth is populated by and ruled over the descendants of the last people who conquered the land.

And I’m honest enough to say that we are the beneficiaries of the extermination of the Indians. Had whites not pushed the Indians out of the lands our forbears conquered, our country would be very different, and probably not in a good way. If you are white, and live or grew up in the South, you are a beneficiary of the ‘Trail of Tears,’ the forced removal of the Cherokee, Muscogee, Seminole, Chickasaw, Choctaw, and Ponca tribes.

  6. Jl says:

Hello, I entered your store illegally-it was after hours and your doors were locked. But don’t worry, I’ll tell the cops I have “the courage of my convictions”.

    • Jeffery says:

America is not a store, it’s a nation. As a nation, our officials can pass laws concerning how we deal with various issues, including children brought into this nation by parents who enter illegally. That’s the debate now.

tRump caused a shitstorm because it’s what he does.

      • drowningpuppies says:

So the ignorant angry little black fella now has a problem with metaphors about illegals.

      • Dana says:

Trump caused a shitstorm because that was what he promised he would do; that’s why his supporters voted for him.

      • Dana says:

We saw what you did there:

children brought into this nation by parents who enter illegally

Notice how Jeffrey Jeffery tries to separate the fact that the children entered illegally from the parents having done so. That their parents brought them here does not make the children’s entry any less illegal.

        • Jeffery says:

          Donna,

We make allowances based on intent. A right-winger who shoots his AR-15 into the air to celebrate the arrest of a Mexican is not charged with 1st degree murder when his bullets unintentionally find an innocent Mexican woman. On the other hand if the same right-winger stalks and shoots a Mexican with the intent to murder her, he may well be charged with 1st degree murder. The woman is just as dead in either case. In one case, the right-wing nationalist is a murderer, in the other, he’s not.

          • drowningpuppies says:

Ignit angry little black fella still attacking a straw man.

          • Dana says:

Which begs the question: why should we take into account intent or mens rea if the result is that someone is killed in either case?

We need to arrest and deport them all.

  7. Jl says:

“America is not a store….”. And immigration laws have nothing to do with “courage”.

  8. Hoss says:

I think it’s cute that they think they’re in a position to make demands. It shows how low this country has sunk that it can’t even protect it’s own sovereignty anymore.

  9. Professor Hale says:

Of course they are unafraid. The history of immigration control in they lifetime has been toothless. After being arrested, they will be treated well and then released. They know this. Even if they are deported, they will just come right back. It is an inconvenience at most. It’s not like anyone will beat them with a cane. That is something they would wish to avoid.
