Democrats Awesome New Idea: Repeal Tax Cuts

What a great platform going into the 2018 midterms: “vote for us! We’ll raise your taxes!”

(The Hill) Democrats are vowing to undo parts of the GOP’s tax-code overhaul if they win back control of the House in November, hoping President Trump’s first major domestic achievement will be a liability for the Republicans in the midterm elections.

The effort is reminiscent of the Republicans’ long-drawn campaign to hammer away at the Affordable Care Act and turn President Obama’s signature health-care expansion into a down-ballot albatross for the Democrats — an effort that helped the Republicans retake the House with sweeping election victories in 2010.

“We should repeal it and I think we should offer an alternative tax plan, which is we’re going to provide the tax relief to the middle class and the working class,” said Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.).

Democratic leaders are encouraging their troops to stage district-based tax-reform “teach-ins” designed to convince voters “what this tax scam means to families,” in the words of the direct appeal from House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.).

So, the party of loving every type of tax increase, one which instituted lots of little tax increases through Obamacare, which would love a carbon tax, which institutes taxes on “sugary drinks”, wants to take away a tax that gives more money to middle and lower class citizens, and has seen company after company give employees more money in the form of stock, 401K ventures, bonuses, and/or actual raises? That’s a winning formula!

Republicans are ready to hammer Democrats for vowing to repeal much of the tax law, arguing their opponents would be foolish to run on a message of raising taxes.

“I would welcome Democrats running for election based on, ‘Let us slow down the American economy, raise taxes and make sure people’s paychecks are stagnant for another decade,’ ” House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Kevin Brady (R-Texas) told reporters earlier this week.

“That would be a terrible campaign theme for them to run on, but I welcome them to do it,” he said.

They should go for it. Perhaps they can run some commercials talking about how $1,000 is just crumbs, as Nancy Pelosi has repeatedly stated. The article continues that the Democrats and their interest groups think this is all a winning combination, which seems to be more of a “soak the rich” scheme, as usual.

Actual tax relief for the working classes… what a novel idea.

The GOP Plan cut taxes for the wealthy and corporations (both in actual dollars as well as in percentage of income). At the same time the New Cons advocate slashing popular and effective working class programs such as Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid to pay for rich guy tax cuts.

That’s a pretty brief and effective TV ad. “The Republicans are destroying your Social Security and Medicare to pay for tax cuts for their fat cat donors.”

    • Dana says:

The tax cuts do not touch Social Security or Medicare, regardless of what the left have whined. And Donald Trump campaigned specifically on not cutting Social Security or Medicare. What we have from our Missouri moron is just another lie.

Our KintucKKKee kook misread what was written.

Two points: 1. Little tRump is a liar, and his pronouncements cannot be trusted. 2. The Nu Cons have made clear their goal to slash Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security. It’s in Nu Con DNA. Their objective is to dismantle America.

If you think little tRump WON’T sign a GOPher bill slashing “entitlements” you’re dumber than even we thought.

          Keep lying jeff.

        • Dana says:

Senior citizens vote at a greater rate than most other groups, and congressmen depend on the voters for their jobs. There will be no bill cutting either Social Security or Medicare passed by either House of Congress. You can take that to the bank.

There may be a bill cutting Medicaid, and I hope that there is.

I think you got too many “K”s in there, but that’s OK, I’ll proudly own it.

You, of course, should go ahead and own “Missouri moron.”

Um, dude… The working class isn’t the WORKING class if they don’t have jobs. That’s what the word means.

Welfare programs are not working class programs, by definition.

The working class, those that work and pay taxes can only do that in a vibrant and growing economy. Punishing businesses is the worst sort of self-destructive behavior possible but class envy is all the Democrats have got.

      It’s rather sad.

Easy ad. You’ll hear it a lot before next November.

    Corporate taxes are paid by….
    A) cash from the money fairy
    B) $100 bills counterfeited in the company basement
    C) the customers and consumers as a highly regressive hidden tax peppered with loopholes written by lobbyists

The idiots can just repeal their own tax cuts and send the money to the treasury. What a concept
