GOP leaders join clamor to retain ‘dreamers’ program for immigrants
House Speaker Paul D. Ryan and other Republicans on Friday urged President Trump not to rescind an Obama-era program that allowed hundreds of thousands of immigrants to stay in the country legally, reflecting fears among some GOP leaders that his decision could be politically damaging for the party.
The entreaties came as Trump neared a decision on whether to dismantle the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, which has provided two-year work permits to nearly 800,000 immigrants known as “dreamers†who have been in the country illegally since they were children.
What political damage are they concerned with? The Dreamers can’t vote. Neither can their parents. Because they are unlawfully present in the United States. Oh, right, they’re worried about the media, of which 90% votes Democrat, being mean to them, which would happen no matter what. If they’re so worried about DACA, well, they should put a bill up for vote in the House and Senate. Instead, they want to keep a program that is, for all purposes, backdoor amnesty. Besides all the ones who get green cards, the Dreamers can keep applying for renewal again and again and again. Which means their parents, the ones who even Democrats admit committed the crime, get to stay.
Trump is expected to make his announcement Tuesday.
Speculation has mounted among immigrant rights groups that Trump will begin to unwind the program, which President Barack Obama created in 2012 through executive action. But the late-stage opposition from some top Republicans — as well as from hundreds of major corporations such as Facebook, Google and Apple — has raised the pressure on Trump to preserve it.
So, lots of Leftist corporations want to keep it? We’re supposed to listen to them?
Paul Ryan is yammering about fixing this legislatively. Well, he needs to put up or shut up. Show us the legislation, let’s see how bad it is.
(Mediaite) On Friday night, Tucker Carlson went after Republicans who have expressed their support to keep the Obama-era DACA policy intact.
“Almost ten months into the Republican Congress, top Republicans on Capitol Hill have finally found an issue they can really rally around: preserving President Obama‘s immigration policies,†he began.
Carlson specifically called out Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC) for drafting amnesty legislation he himself calls a “conservative alternative†to DACA, which reportedly would give 2.5 million illegal immigrants a pathway to citizenship.
“We’re supposed to believe that this is the ‘conservative’ position, but the only thing it conserves is President Obama’s policy priorities,†Carlson said.
It’s time to primary these Republicans. We did not elect them to provide amnesty.

An Aug 31 NBC poll showed 64% of Americans favor keeping DACA, while 30% want the kids deported. In the same poll 60% disapproved of tRump’s pardon of Arpaio. Some 30-35% of Americans support the far-right, Bannon, neo-Nazi, sovereign citizen, Breitbart, white nationalist agenda. tRump has cleverly tapped into that.
Most Americans are more thoughtful, compassionate and decent than the typical tRump 30%er.

In the only polls that actually count for anything, Republicans running with Donald Trump and his anti-illegal immigration policies at the head of the ticket kept control of the House, kept control of the Senate, and increased their numbers of governors, state legislative seats and state legislative chambers. Since the disastrous-for-America elections of 2008, Democrats have lost 1,042 congressional, gubernatorial and state legislative seats. In the only polls that count, Americans have pretty decisively rejected Democratic Party policies.
But, assuming for the sake of argument that the poll you cited is accurate, then the obvious thing is for President Trump to rescind his predecessor’s illegal change to a congressionally-passed law, and allow the Congress to put together and pass a new version of DACA, this time doing things the proper way, changing the law by the Constitutionally-mandated process. If you are right, then the Congress will pass it.
By all means, have Congress do their jobs and enact a law that the American people favor.
If the GOOP misreads their electoral victories as a mandate for fascism they will be in for a sad awakening. tRump and his Deplorables are on a trajectory opposite to the mass of the American people. We have elections every 2 years and also note that the Repugs have yet to take the guns from their “enemies”, although it’s in their plans.
I know that Mr. Jeffery is beside himself over the nazis on the right while cheering on his own Mao/Lenin loving, gang protecting, Mob enabling leftists, who march in the streets demanding the overthrow of the US government.
But there is one thing you should know Mr. Jeffery. No matter how much you cry foul. The GOP has your back. They will do nothing. They are pulling a page from Your former Senate leader who quite literally refused to do anything after the 2010 election got them destroyed for passing Obamacare and Dodd/Frank.
Additionally you point to a poll of Americans who say they support the far right. Most of the people polled would no doubt not even understand exactly what supporting the far right means.
I would rather see a poll that asks. Do you support the Neo-Nazi movement. White Supremes. The KKK. I would rather suspect the numbers will fall dramatically.
No you are totally mistaken in your beliefs Mr. Jeffery. The American people do not support these hate groups. They support pride in their own country. Something the progressive movement deplores.
I would suspect that if the left were asked the same question. Do you support the far left the answer would be 30-40 percent. By default then the left is supporting Anarchism, Communism and Socialism. Yet if you were to ask the question. Do you support Communism, Anarchims or Socialism the numbers would fall dramatically.
All politicians around the world, never more so then In America, rely on the stupid voter syndrome when not only voting but in polls. Then people like you pick up the poll and run with it.

It seemed pretty simple. 64% of Americans said they did not approve of deporting children unlawfully present in the country. president tRump is considering deporting these children.

Actually I was responding to this part of your post. Im pretty sure your so busy throwing stuff at the wall to see what sticks that you forget what you actually write.
I do however agree with one thing. Speaker Ryan said that the congress should be involved in this decision(DACA) and he is right. This is a legislative endeavor and should never be left to executive action.
