Texas businesses aren’t waiting on President Trump to fight climate change
The White House is dropping out of the international effort to limit global warming. But in Texas, candy and pet food giant Mars isn’t slowing its climate change plans designed to protect Waco-made Snickers from West African drought and shield pet food production in Temple from failed wheat harvests.
Mars is not alone. For years, companies say, they have been reducing their carbon footprints and embracing renewable energy to cut costs and appeal to a younger workforce and customers. And that will continue with or without government leadership, they say. (snip)
Other corporate giants operating in Texas, including newly-arrived Toyota, are pushing forward aggressively on climate-change mitigation. The Japanese company’s new U.S. headquarters in Plano has a 7.75 megawatt solar array, enough to supply a fourth of the building’s electricity. And the automaker is committed to eliminating all greenhouse gas emissions from its cars, operations and supply chain by 2050.
Will Toyota stop selling fossil fueled vehicles by 2050, eliminating the majority of its sales? Even the Prius uses gasoline. There is exactly one vehicle in their US portfolio that uses no gas, the Mirai, which starts at a middle class friendly $57500, and, get this, it puts out water vapor, which is the #1 greenhouse gas. And said solar array will, in practice, provide a hell of a lot less than 7.75 megawatts.
Regardless, these companies, along with AT&T and Apple, mentioned in the article, along with certainly other companies, are entitled to do these kinds of things if they choose to. It might cause costs to rise, and a lot is certain patronizing feel good stuff, but, it’s a choice. It is not Government forcing compliance. And that’s the way it should be. Let’s not forget that on every survey, ‘climate change’ comes in last or next to last regarding Issues That People Care About.
Now if only Warmists would choose to make their own lives carbon neutral.

But water vapor has an interesting characteristic not shared by CO2 or methane – water vapor can condense and fall out of the atmosphere – it’s what we call precipitation! And the amount of water vapor in the atmosphere largely depends on the air temperature – ever increasing because of the added CO2, which doesn’t fall out of the atmosphere!

And, condensation falling from the sky depends on the dewpoint – if it’s getting hotter, less will fall – which does not match observations.

“to cut costs” is the operative phrase. Anything else is just virtue signaling for marketing benefit for the mis-educated youth.
“Water vapor can condense and fall out of the atmosphere!” And water can evaporate and go directly back to the atmosphere! “Because of addd CO2, which doesn’t fall out of the atmosphere!”. CO2 is taken in by plants, which does take it out of the atmosphere! J, are you asleep?

Burning one mole (114 g) of octane yields 9 moles (162 g) of water!
So burning a gallon of gas yields about 9 pounds (over a gallon!) of water!
You’ve solved global warming. All we have to do is stop burning fossil fuels where we convert hydrocarbons and oxygen into CO2 and water.
Strangely, the water vapor content of the atmosphere has increased less than the 40% increase seen in atmospheric CO2.
Jeffty, octanes are an entire family of hydrocarbons, and are not the sole ingredient of gasoline. Indeed, there may not be any “octane” at all in your gas. An octane RATING tells you nada about the compostition.

You miss the point, don’t you? It is what we call an “example”. It’s hard to balance the equation:
oil + O2 –> CO2 + H2O
Octane is a saturated 8 carbon hydrocarbon: H3C-CH2-CH2-CH2-CH2-CH2-CH2-CH3
We could have used heptane or nonane or benzene or cyclohexane.
The point being that burning hydrocarbons (from oil, gas, coal, wood) generates H2O as well as CO2.

The point was that TEACH ignorantly used the production of water by the Mirai as a contributor to global warming. Our point was that burning fossil fuels also adds water to the atmosphere contributing to global warming. It’s not that hard to understand. It’s an admission that burning fossil fuels contributes to global warming.
If water from the Mirai contributes to global warming, why doesn’t water vapor from burning fossil fuels contribute?

With every announcement like this it just proves that the Paris Accord was not needed to begin with and neither is government interference in private business. And is also proving that private business can and will do more on their own than they would with government coercion.
By pulling the US Government out of the Paris accord, Trump is actually doing MORE to decrease US emissions than if we had stayed in. AND saving billions of US taxpayer money in the process.
