Suddenly, Democrats Have A Problem With Executive Power

Here’s the question for a President Trump: how will he sells executive power? Will he use it roll back all that Obama did, or go much further? Doesn’t matter, because come 1/20/2017, it’s bad

Trump poised to erase Obama policies
Here’s what Trump has pledged to do by executive fiat in key policy areas.

Prepare for an imperial presidency.

Donald Trump has pledged to “reform the entire regulatory code,” to “cancel immediately all illegal and overreaching executive orders,” and to place a “temporary moratorium on new agency regulations that are not compelled by Congress or public safety.”

Imperial!

You can expect quite a bit if this for the next 4-8 years.

Precedent is a bitch. If you do something as president against convention, you have opened the door for all others. Now, consider the Congress. They have the ability to use the nuclear option without concern as it was a favorite of Reed, so much for filibuster.

  2. david7134 says:

I forgot, there is now discussion on putting the bitch in jail. I have no problem with that, and her whole family. We need to keep the pressure up on Obama to keep him from issuing pardons and on Trump to not feel sorry for them. As long as the Clintons are alive they are a danger.

  3. Hank_M says:

The democrats always have problems when repubs do what they do. The double standard is their only standard.

The repubs and Trump need to use executive fiat, reconciliation and the nuclear option as much as needed to advance their agenda.

When the dems complain, the repubs can explain they learned it from them.

I don’t think that Obama can issue a pardon for the Clintons. This is not because he does not have the Constitutional authority (he does) but rather a pardon implies guilt and the acceptance of a pardon by the person is a confession of guilt.

That’s not me talking and saying that.

According to the Supreme Court in Burdick v. United States, “[A pardon] carries an imputation of guilt; acceptance a confession of it.”

In Wilson v. United States, the SCOTUS ruled that you can’t force a pardon to be accepted either.

That means if Obama issues a pardon, he is saying that he feels the Clintons are guilty – something he and they have steadfastly denied. If the Clintons accept the pardon, that means they are confessing to crimes and are guilty, something that they steadfastly have denied.

Pardons are something Obama and the Clintons don’t want to go near and cannot afford to go near.

The Clintons are in their late sixties, and they’re now the past.

As Mr Carver noted, acceptance of a pardon is an admission that you have done something which needs to be pardoned. A pardon would be the perfect answer: it saves the Trump Administration from having to pursue criminal charges against Mrs Clinton, and the acceptance of guilt means that they’ll never again have any influence.

    dana,
Then what are you going to do about the military guys in prison for far less than what Hillary did? I am the same age as the Clintons, is it ok if I go rob the nearest bank? Of course, I would not have criminal intent, just want some extra cash. This administration is one of the most corrupt in history and needs to be scrubbed.

    GC,
As far as I am concerned, Obama needs to be considered for legal actions as well. He was totally complicit in the corruption of the Clintons. I also think there is a good chance that the Bushes may have been in on some of it as I remember some years back that old man Bush was good buds with Clinton and that they were doing some of the foundation things. As far as I am concerned all of the leaders from the past need to be scrutinized.

  9. Jeffery says:

President Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Herbert Camacho suggested his kids for the Cabinet, LOL.

He’s “draining the swamp” by bringing in Gingrich, Giuliani, Palin, Lewandowski and Christy. LOL

President Camacho’s surrogates promise retribution against his enemies, and that they have an “Enemies List”. They will “bow down” to President Camacho. LOL.

Here’s the deal. The big fraud didn’t expect to win and to his credit is panicked and begging President Obama for help. Obama, worried about the fate of the nation, is helping.

Melanis visited Michelle today so that the First Lady could pass along her collection of speeches. LOL.

I’d leave them right where they are.

Is that unfair? Yup, sure is! But political considerations do enter into this: if the Trump Administration pursues criminal charges against Mrs Clinton, the Democrats will be both outraged and emboldened, and have a new cause for which to fight.

Sometimes you have to make unsavory compromises to reach your goals; this would be one of those times.

Oh, man, is Jeffrey going to be fun to read for the next four years!

  14. Jeffery says:

Now dave wants to prosecute the Bushes, Obamas and Clintons for the crimes he imagines were committed. Welcome to Trumplandia. Did it ever occur to you that Trumpf was a Clinton supporter until recently? Should Trumpf investigate Trumpf? Why not just have the federales round up all your enemies and “detain” them?

It’s hard to imagine that Trumpf is as big a bigot as the one he portrayed during the campaign, but his white supremacist fanbois (a minority, thank gawd) don’t realize that. And they feel that America suffers from an infestation of job-stealing Mexicans, throat-slitting Muslims, violence-prone Negroes, greedy Jews, and Indians and Orientals and Arabs, oh my! It’s up to the moderate conservatives to control their violent alt-right brethren. “Jee willikers, have you ever been to the big city, it’s like the Tower of Babel there!”

  15. Jeffery says:

The Electoral College vote is Dec 19. Some people say that the vile Clintons are spending over $100 million lobbying Electors to vote for Clinton instead of Trumpf. For most Electors it’s perfectly legal to vote for either candidate.

If the Electoral College voted to give the election to the popular vote winner, would the cons go nutz? Would they take to the streets?

  16. Dana says:

Jeffrey expands on Algorian fantasies from 2000:

If the Electoral College voted to give the election to the popular vote winner, would the cons go nutz? Would they take to the streets?

Well, a couple of them might, but Mr Trump’s electoral vote margin is pretty large.

Wow. You gotta be the biggest racist/bigot on the internet. And, like all leftists, anyone who disagrees with you does it because THEY are bad, immoral racists. Not because your stupid, commie ideas SUCK!!!

How does that sh!t sandwich we handed you in the election taste Jeffery? Get used to it. Hahahahahahahah

You still haven’t told us what a”right wing extremist” is. Because there aren’t any? So you can’t define them. Dumbass.
