Could The Election Lead To Civil War?

This is the question that is starting to grow. I’m seeing people say that if Hillary wins, there should be a revolt. One thing you cannot say about Trump supporters is that they are not insanely passionate about electing Trump. And most Republicans are very disturbed that Hillary might win (well, will probably win, a problem that could have been avoided if A) a good candidate had been selected during the GOP primaries, or B) Trump was a good campaigner that stuck to the issues and did the things necessary to win). And we get this

(Think Progress) Joe Walsh, who was a United States congressman from 2011 until 2013, declared on Wednesday afternoon that he will take up arms if Donald Trump is not elected to the presidency.

He tweeted this

Soopermexican is less than impressed. The thing is, this is showing up more and more on Twitter and in comments at websites from blogs to major news outlets. And then we have this from the Daily Caller, an interesting introspection

History Professor Warns America: 2016 Election Could Prompt Civil War [VIDEO]

A professor who specializes in the Civil War appeared on a special edition of “The Jim Bakker Show” last week to warn America that the 2016 presidential election could lead to another secessionist melee.

“I’m a civil war historian,” the Montreat College professor, William Forstchen, explained by way of introduction.

The U.S. election of 1860 “is the closest I can parallel this to,” Forstchen said.

“And we all know what the price was,” the professor then said. “When we went to a civil war, they killed 660,000 young men because we became so divided.”

He went on to say how important it was to vote regardless, as the House and Senate are important. Then

Forstchen failed to explain how the results of the 2016 election will hasten — or prevent — a civil war. He also did not specifically mention or endorse any candidates for office.

And he was followed by Baptist pastor Carl Gallups, who seems to be rather a nutjob, as he believes the creation of Israel made the prophecy clock start ticking, thinks the Sandy Hook shooting never happened, and that neither Cruz nor Rubio would be eligible to be president due to the circumstances of their birth.

The Daily Caller places this under the tag of “nutty professors.” They are. But, this sentiment of armed rebellion, secession, and even civil war has been growing. Usually, those who are going crazy and are super passionate during general elections are the Democrat voters. In this case, the Trump supporters. Should we be concerned if Trump loses? That’s the question. Usually, the answer would be “this is just some nutters yammering and being blowhards”, so, no worries, but, as much as I’ve seen it, I’m not so sure about the answer.

I s’pose I’m not particularly seeing a threat to take up his “musket” as much of one. It’s a rhetorical flourish, nothing more. A serious threat would have mentioned a serious rifle.

  2. Dana says:

But there will be a whole lot of people who do not currently own firearms deciding to buy weapons before the Democrats can appoint a Supreme Court Justice who will “interpret” the Second Amendment to only cover the militia. District of Columbia v Heller and McDonald v Chicago were both 5-4 decisions, and Justice Scalia has gone to his eternal reward.

I find it amusing that the right is so enamored with Trump given the fact hes trying so hard to get Blacks and Hispanics…a democratic bloc on his side…He is also going after the union vote with the jobs issue….not to mention the 23 million that dont even have jobs that want one……

Another thing folks…..for you Trumpsters who are sadly looking at the poll…….Every poll even including the 4 candidates in the mix still has between 4-8 percent of the vote missing…..in other words…..Im not sure yet whom I am voting for.

This election is still very winnable and more and more of this email crap leaks out daily.

Let that be a lesson to all Politicians….stop having a Public face and a private face…….HOW ABOUT WORKING FOR AMERICA LIKE YOU ALWAYS PROMISE YOU WILL DO……

The trumpster is certainly going to work for all sides of the isle…..and the left is apoplectic at the thought of the Donald offering up these XXX judges who are so conservative…..

Folks I dont believe that for a moment….I believe that was a list to appease the right….when the time comes when he is in office he will offer up moderates or those who might lean slightly left because the Senate is most likely going to be Democratic.

The trump can win this yet……and that is only because the DNC and HRC are being shown daily to be nothing but ginormous sleaze buckets who seek power over anything else and are even talking down their own voter blocks as “BROWNS” etc.

  4. Liam Thomas says:

My favorite poll The La Times has the race at a tie with 45/45…..okay where is the other 10 percent…..roughly 4 percent Johnson, 2 percent Stein…..meaning 4-5 percent are still undecided which they dont include…..

Hence if the undecideds break for trump….this election is his to win as every poll in every state is leaving off between 3-7 percent as unaccounted for…..

So….guess what I believe that Trump still has a shot…..Now if he just lets his son run the white house after he wins and becomes the proxy president….then we will have a slick willy in the WH who actually knows how to converse with people without firing them for winching at his words.

  5. Hank_M says:

If Hillary wins, there should be a revolt, but it’ll be peaceful.

Political violence comes almost exclusively from the left.

The left always accuses the right of doing or planning what they themselves do (and deny doing).

The Obama administration has already shattered the ideal that we are a nation of laws. Hillary avoiding prosecution for her email fiasco, her campaigns coordination with PAC’s, her pay to play, etc further demonstrates that. If she ends up getting elected then there will indeed be a revolt. A revolt the left has bought and paid for.

  6. Jeffery says:

Candidate Trump has been telling his supporters that the vote is rigged, the polls are rigged, he is really the favorite of the majority and if he loses he is unlikely to accept the results.

This is the result of a two decades of Gingrichism claiming the Democratic/liberal side is illegitimate. Bill Clinton was illegitimate, Obama was not even an American etc etc. Republicans can no longer win a free and fair national election, even when running against the most least-liked candidate in forever. They resort to voter suppression and gerrymandering Congressional districts to stay in power. They refuse to consider nominees for the Supreme Court from Democratic presidents.

Yep, it’s not too hard to understand why the lunatic fringe, Republican base is ready to take to the streets.

  7. Liam Thomas says:

Ah but Jeffery…the polls are closing again….and every poll has like between 4-7 percent undecideds in an ever tighening race….

See the MSM is already claiming Hillary is going to win….this is the type of crap the right is complaining about….ITS NOT THEIR JOB TO REPORT opinion….its their jobs to report facts….

The facts are the polls are once again closing in trumps favor with 4-7 percent still unaccounted for…all the polls ignore this small but decisive block.

With the constant crap leaking out on HRC and the DNC….and ever increasing anger by the Bernie followers who might claim to be for Hillary but wont ACTUALLY VOTE……

If I was a DEM….I would be scared right now…..DEWEY WINS!!! DEWEY WINS!!!

  8. Liam Thomas says:

And the only thing the left has to throw at Trump is he is a womanizing groper who they claim is a sexual predator…..

Yet the country has been reintroduced to an essentially convicted sexual predator who was impeached and paid 800k to settle a charge of assault against him while he was president….People are coming forward saying he assaulted them when he was governor of ARK….

AND so….do they want to send a convicted sexual assaulter to the White House in Bill Clinton the hubby of the most loathed dem candidate ever…….or do they want to risk sending Trump to the white house…perhaps the most loathed repub ever……

Thats why this race comes down to those 7 percent undecideds…and with this drip drip drip of emails….HRC might very well be toast….

THE MSM cant contain this anymore….because most people get their news on the WEB now….not from MSNBC, CBS or ABC…..the liberal left is losing control of the message….and thats why hillary is not 40 points ahead right now.

  9. john says:

Should those “nut cases” who are advocating armed rebellion against the USA have their right to bear arms taken away?
If muslim extremists advocate violent jihad should they be allowed to own.buy weapons?

  10. john says:

should people who advocate armed rebellion be allowed to own weapons? Should muslims who advocate violent jihad be allowed to buy weapons?
Remember violent jihadis are not leftists they come from the right side of the political spectrum (anti gay anti abortion small government just an emir)

  11. Rev.Hoagie® says:

Should those “nut cases” who are advocating armed rebellion against the USA have their right to bear arms taken away?

Yes, and I vote you go get them.

If muslim extremists advocate violent jihad should they be allowed to own.buy weapons?

They shouldn’t even be allowed here. Why would you want them near your family with or without weapons?

  12. Jeffery says:

According to RealClearPolitics average of national polls, Trump was up +1.1% July 27, Clinton up 0.9% Sept 18 and Clinton up 5.4% today.

As Nate Silver at fivethirtyeight points out, the polls may be wrong, even though his poll analysis has Clinton likelihood of winning at 85%. Trump’s 15% chance doesn’t mean he has no chance. The polls may be wrong – Johnson, Stein and undecided may vote for Trump. The steady drip of Wikileaks info from the Russians is no help to Clinton.

Do you ever watch MSNBC or CNN? They were Trump bagmen until it appeared he had a chance to win, then they got scared, and started to practice a little journalism. Once Clinton got 5 points up, they stopped. Mika and Scarborough used to give Trump blowjobs every morning until they asked him one hard question, then he left. Even today, CNN and MSNBC is pimping hard the “tightening” race, how it’s now a toss up! The corporate media created Trump the candidate, and even now they want the appearance of a close race, even if no one in their right mind thinks Trump should be president.

  13. Liam Thomas says:

Literally every poll had Romney winning the election in 2012. What happened…..Well for one….Obama’s ground game and their enthusiasm….this time around does Hillary have Obama’s ground game and enthusiasm? I doubt it….will those who voted for Obama turn out for him like they did Obama….I doubt it….will those same people say they are voting for Hillary and then never show up……likely…….

Whats continually left out is the 5-7 percent of missing percentage on any poll….who are these people voting for….they dont say undecidededs….they just dont even discuss them….

    DEWEY WINS!! DEWEY WINS!!!

  14. Liam Thomas says:

Remember what killed Romney was the evangelicals did not vote at all because he was a mormon…..Stupid idiots…but then this time around there is not even a mention of religion other then the democrats obviously despise Catholics….

I wonder will the Sanders people vote for Hillary? Only election day will tell the tale.

  15. Jeffery says:

Joe Walsh is a lunatic teabagger that was swept out of office after two years. It’s easy to understand why he is so upset by America. He doesn’t fit in except in the lunatic fringe.

  16. Jeffery says:

And let’s be honest. There is a sizable minority (some post here) who are frustrated with America (abortion, Negroes, Mexicans, Muslims, gays, transgendered, ACA, debt, IRS, war on christians, no gov’t prayers) and may never adjust to diverse, multicultural America. And since they don’t have the psychological capacity to integrate they may eventually resort to violence.

  17. Jeffery says:

Literally every poll had Romney winning the election in 2012.

No. That’s just not true. Five Thirty Eight predicted an Obama win based on national polls. Real Clear Politics had Obama up 0.7% nationally, and the polling of the final two weeks showed Obama leading in 7 polls, Romney up in 2 and 5 ties. Obama won by over 3% points.

Obama was clearly the favorite but only slightly. FOX and Joe Scarborough etc were shocked when Obama won by over 3% – they thought the “excitement” for Romney would push him to victory. But pollsters and handicappers had it as Obama all the way. Only Republicans voiced the idea that Romney would win.

The US in moving ever closer to civil war. If Trump loses (which I doubt), then that is one extra weight on the scale to shifting people to action. But people will not feel compelled to act in this day and time until their economy is coming apart, and that is around the corner. Think of the fact that 50% of the people in the US hate the other 50%. Many social professors have said it is only a matter of time until the US splits into several countries. I know that Texas is close. If this election does not turn things around, it means several things. First, we will have confirmation that the rule of law is dead as Hillary should be in jail. Second, the election process is broken and can not be fixed. Third, Hillary due to her incompetence will get us involved in war that we don’t want or need. Fourth, open borders will assure a pressure on the middle class that will cause strife. Finally, the economy will collapse. We are very close.

  19. Liam Thomas says:

    No. That’s just not true.

    Gallups final poll….romney 49 Obama 48.

    Rasmusen romney up by one….

The list of polls I was referring to was 28 non major polls that had Romney winning narrowly and ahead in all but 3 of them. That does not even include Gallup and Rasmussen both of which are or were highly respected.

Ground game for Obama vs evangelicals that didnt vote for Romney despite polling as though they would go vote is the difference.

The same dynamic is occuring this cycle…How many of those BERNIE voters who say they are going to vote for Hillary ACTUALLY will…….

and really how enthused is the left for HRC vs how enthused they were for Obama.

I am starting to see some trends that suggest……

    DEWEY WINS!! DEWEY WINS~!!
