The area in question is covered in Pliestocene sand seperated by both early and late Permian shale. In addition this has created many known faults in the area.
The injection of wastewater would destabilize the Pleistocene sand because the densities do not match what is needed to create a stable geological field.
There were many of us who said that this area should not be suitable for fracking but of course no one listens to Geologists anymore.

I often forget that most people dont even understand Fracking….Its just that its creating more fossil fuels ergo it must be bad.
Fracking is used on shale….As I said this area is bordered by Permian shale which is a great candidate for the horizontal drilling and the pumping of fracking fluids and sands into the cased holes forcing natural gas and oil to the surface.
Fracking does not cause earth quakes anymore than pumping a billion bbls of oil out of the ground in a given area causes earthquakes.
In this case however the bordering Pliestocene sands:
