U.N Wants Quick Paris Climate Agreement Ratification As Countries Get Cold Feet

The Paris climate agreement was hailed as “historic”, and all these big wigs in government were in total love with it. Well, 7+ months later, the reality is starting to sink in

U.N. pushes fast-track ratification of Paris climate deal as countries get cold feet

The United Nations has issued a plea for nations to fast-track ratification of the Paris Climate Agreement as some countries are backtracking on support for the deal’s sweeping restrictions on greenhouse gas emissions.

U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon urged nations to attend a “special event” Thursday where they may deposit their “instruments of ratification, acceptance, approval or accession to the Paris Agreement on climate change.”

“I urge you to accelerate your country’s domestic process for ratification of the Agreement this year,” Mr. Ban said in a statement.

His push for rapid ratification comes amid the increasingly chilly reception for the agreement, adopted by 195 parties to the U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change in Paris, by nations concerned about the impact of the carbon restrictions.

The change of heart even has a name: “Clexit,” short for “climate exit,” a take-off on “Brexit,” the successful June 23 British vote to leave the European Union.

There is major concern with the Philippines, which has said they won’t join, because the restrictions are “stupid.” There is also major concern with Australia (whose voters have repudiated government attempts to institute ‘climate change’ policies by voting them out of office.) There is concern for Britain and Germany. Every know that India and China will not abide by the terms, even if they ratify it. If Trump wins, he has stated uncategorically that he will trash it. Developing countries will abide only in terms of wanting that sweet, sweet climate cash from productive countries.

Since then, 19 countries have ratified the agreement, which goes into effect 30 days after ratification by 55 nations responsible for 55 percent of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions.

It was also specifically set up to avoid having to place it in front of any duly elected legislatures, yet, just 19? It’s expected that many more will sign by December, but, seriously, much like with the Kyoto Protocol, most will do no more than pay lip service. And so many are losing the will to enact economy damaging measures that cause their middle and lower class citizens harm.

    What about the PAUSE
That is what we all want to know about

The Pause, John, is what happens when you try to formulate a coherent thought.

On the subject, interesting that countries are having second thoughts. It’s almost as if the science isn’t settled. The UN, being one of the most corrupt institutions on the planet, of course wants this rammed through quickly. There’s money to be made while accomplishing nothing.

This is more than likely where Obama ends up. The perfect place for him. He can make speeches all day long, make a lot of unearned money and never be accountable for anything.
