Climate change ‘re-writing’ face of UK wildlife, study warns

Britain’s wildlife calendar is and will continue to be rewritten by climate change – something which could result in disruptive consequences for both plants and animals – a new study is warning.

Researchers from the UK’s Centre for Ecology & Hydrology have discovered that seasonal events -such as the timing of flowering in plants and breeding in birds – are generally more sensitive to temperature change, than to changes in rain and snowfall. (snip)

In turn, this could have consequences for the country’s renowned biodiversity, as the breeding success and survival of such species are affected.

Well, obviously, the UK has been exactly the same for millions and billions of years, that is until the Industrial Revolution, fossil fuels, air conditioning, refrigeration, smartphones, and modern society.

Dr Thackeray went on: “Our findings highlight the importance of managing ecosystems within a ‘safe operating space’ with respect to the likely impacts of projected climate change.”

In other words, give us money and tax the citizens to death while we try and micromanage the environment, and, surely nothing could possibly go wrong with that!

Meanwhile, up to 60% of penguins in the Antarctic could might possibly maybe perish by 2100

Climate change is affecting Antarctica’s penguin population, which is reducing rapidly, especially in regions where the impact of global warming is felt the most. The population is expected to plummet by 60 percent at the end of this century.

The main reason for their plummeting population is the warming of sea water. Even though the penguins cannot survive extremely cold temperatures, the warmer places too cannot let them live, explain experts, relying on global climate model projections and satellite data for their study.

About 30 percent of Adélie colonies in Antarctica may be wiped out by 2060, and 60 percent by 2099.

Uh huh. Thanks for the prognostication, Chicken Littles.

I’m going to file this idiots ridiculous predictions right under:

“Demographers agree almost unanimously on the following grim timetable: by 1975 widespread famines will begin in India; these will spread by 1990 to include all of India, Pakistan, China and the Near East, Africa. By the year 2000, or conceivably sooner, South and Central America will exist under famine conditions….By the year 2000, thirty years from now, the entire world, with the exception of Western Europe, North America, and Australia, will be in famine.”

This is where the the JJ twins chime in with: “But if saves just one penguin…”.

    Hogtie,

Penguins are overrated anyway. They don’t taste good. They don’t make good pets. They don’t even help mankind accidently as do honeybees and E. coli.

If the species can’t adapt to human-caused global warming that’s their problem for being so weak. Let’s be honest, we don’t want species around that occupy such a narrow ecological niche.

Finally, once we get rid of penguins we’ll get far fewer annoying documentaries from PBS. Just another positive from AGW.

An extremely sensible observation and one Environmental impact studies highlights as the primary methodology going forward….We cannot or will not stop the earth from continuing to warm….this warming is having an impact……hence planning for and working with local, state and national governments in an effort to ensure viability going forward are paramount for any nation.

To wit: There are millions and millions of SPECIES on EARTH as we speak…..since tabulations began of around 44k species 905 have become extinct in around 55 years.

At this rate it will take about 360 million years to kill off the planet.

Now Im not trying to make light of the fact that a species dies off…but it is in fact a way of life on Mother earth.

Since the dawn of time it is estimated that the entire population of earth has turned completely extinct several times over as the WEATHER and the PLANETARY ECOSYSTEM has changed.

The biggest threat to mankind today is not global warming……IT IS THE MASSIVE USE OF PESTICIDES, HERBICIDES and ANTIBIOTICS which are creating killer strains of mutated micro organisms.

I wished the AGW crowd would get on this band wagon instead….because no one seems to want to do anything about this because it seems would have little impact on the ENERGY sector which we all know is the primary driver of wealth among nations.

SO again the AGW crowd is not about saving the world but about redistributing wealth and making poor once rich nations. Its why I don’t believe a thing they say when they say it….because behind those words is an evil agenda and that agenda is designed to put the population of this earth on her knees.
