NY Times Very Upset Over Planned Parenthood Sting

Not once does the Editorial Board profess anything approaching repugnance to the selling of aborted baby parts

The Campaign of Deception Against Planned Parenthood

A hidden-camera video released last week purported to show that Planned Parenthood illegally sells tissue from aborted fetuses. It shows nothing of the sort. But it is the latest in a series of unrelenting attacks on Planned Parenthood, which offers health care services to millions of people every year. The politicians howling to defund Planned Parenthood care nothing about the truth here, being perfectly willing to undermine women’s reproductive rights any way they can.

The nine-minute video clip released by the Center for Medical Progress, an outfit apparently created in 2013, invites viewers to “Hold Planned Parenthood accountable for their illegal sale of baby parts.” In it, Dr. Deborah Nucatola, Planned Parenthood’s senior director of medical services, is seen discussing the collection of fetal tissue in a lunch meeting with two people posing as potential tissue buyers. A second video, released on Tuesday, shows another Planned Parenthood staff member discussing fetal tissue.

Interestingly, the EB isn’t howling about PP selling baby parts. Nor are they howling after we learned that PP employees wanted to sell baby parts to buy a Lamborghini.

Of course, the rest of the editorial is all about protecting PP, and attacking the group that shot the videos. There is no concern that PP is illegally selling aborted baby parts. No outrage. Heck, they aren’t even upset that PP was using ultrasound to make the abortion cleaner to get the parts. Aren’t abortion on demand proponents against ultrasound for abortion?

Researchers use fetal tissue to study and develop treatments for diseases and conditions like H.I.V., hepatitis, congenital heart defects, retinal degeneration and Parkinson’s. Last year, the National Institutes of Health gave $76 million in grants for fetal tissue research. Planned Parenthood is certainly not the only collector of fetal tissue — clinics associated with universities also supply tissue for research.

So far, embryonic stem cell research has provided no viable cures nor medications. Unless you deem fixing a medical issue then causing big tumors “progress”.

The Center for Medical Progress video campaign is a dishonest attempt to make legal, voluntary and potentially lifesaving tissue donations appear nefarious and illegal. Lawmakers responding by promoting their own anti-choice agenda are rewarding deception and putting women’s health and their constitutionally protected rights at risk.

It’s dishonest to promote abortion as a means to gain tissue for failed research as a means to continue the abortion mills. If these were puppies or baby seals, the NYTEB would be freaking out in apoplectic outrage. And this same EB seems to have a big problem when it comes to school choice, especially vouchers, and the choice to own a gun.

Would this same NYTEB, along with all the leftist supporters of unfettered abortion on demand, have a problem with an open investigation of Planned Parenthood in light of these videos? I’m suspecting that the answer would be “no”.

Were any illegalities exposed by the video? No.

If you object to the legal distribution of fetal tissues to researchers, work to change the laws.

According to the Bible a fetus is NOT a human being and is worth less than 1/2 oz silver about 10 bucks
Teach what do you think should be done with a dead fetus? Burial? Trash ?
The radical religious right is always saying they want small government EXCEPT when they feel it is their right to control what happens in a woman’s body. THAT is a right they claim for themselves

    According to the Bible?

First time I ever heard that.

Chapter and verse please, or shut the hell up.

  4. Dana says:

The Editorial Board was simply following The Rule: nothing at all negative about abortion or abortionists may ever be said, because that undermines a Woman’s Right to Choose.

That the left support freedom of choice on exactly one thing goes unsaid.

The sale or purchase of human fetal tissue is a federal felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison or a fine of up to $500,000 (42 U.S.C. 289g-2).

    But, Lamborghinis and shit…

Gatter also suggests modifying the abortion procedure to get more intact fetuses: “I wouldn’t object to asking Ian, who’s our surgeon who does the cases, to use an IPAS [manual vacuum aspirator] at that gestational age in order to increase the odds that he’s going to get an intact specimen.”

Gatter seems aware this violates rules governing tissue collection, but disregards them: “To me, that’s kind of a specious little argument.” Federal law requires that no alteration in the timing or method of abortion be done for the purposes of fetal tissue collection (42 U.S.C. 289g-1).

    Fucking monsters all.

    Again.

Were any illegalities exposed by the video(s)? No.

Technically, it is against the law for any clinic to sell fetal remains for money. The NIH Revitalization Act of 1993 saw to this. The act makes it unlawful “to knowingly acquire, receive, or otherwise transfer any human fetal tissue for valuable consideration if the transfer affects interstate commerce.”

However, many abortion clinics are able to get around this law. In the paper “Arguments Against Fetal Tissue Trafficking” the author explains how clinics circumvent the law.

“. . . The research institutes and the abortion clinics have joined with a third party, the fetal tissue wholesaler. The fetal tissue wholesaler pays the abortion clinics a “site fee” to place employees, known as “procurement agents,” who collect various body parts of the aborted fetuses as soon as the abortion process is finished and ship them to various research institutes. By having free access to all the desirable fetal tissue, these agents take the body parts that are requested to various research laboratories and government agencies.

The wholesaler is technically renting the space to harvest the body parts rather than paying for the tissue itself. The abortionist then “donates” the tissues to the wholesalers. At the other end of the transaction, the wholesaler will “donate” the fetal material to researchers but bill them for the cost of retrieval. Thus the business deal is complete.“

    Fucking Monsters All.

You should take it up with the conservative politicians who for decades have promised to change things in exchange for your votes, but never delivered.
