Poll: Developed World Not That Concerned With “Climate Change”

After 25+ years of spreading awareness, of unhinged pronouncements of doom, massive spending by government and special interests (who are often funded by government) in support of Doing Something about “climate change”, this is the best that can be accomplished

(Pew) Concern about climate change is relatively low in Europe. While a median of 42% report being very concerned, global climate change is not one of the top two threats in any European country surveyed. Anxiety about this issue is highest in Spain (59%), but just 14% in Poland say the same. In a number of European nations, concern about climate change is more pronounced for those on the left of the political spectrum. Ideological differences are particularly large in the United Kingdom, where about half of those on the left (49%) express serious concerns, compared with 30% of those on the right. Those to the left of the political center are also considerably more concerned about global climate change in Italy, France and Spain.

Global climate change ranks substantially lower as a comparative global threat for Americans, with 42% saying they are very concerned about the issue. The only global issue that is even less worrying to Americans: territorial disputes between China and its neighbors (30%). Much like in Europe, perceptions in the U.S. about the threat of climate change depend on ideology. About six-in-ten Democrats (62%) are very concerned about climate change, while just 20% of Republicans say the same.

Here’s how it all breaks down

So, only in Latin America and Africa, where education is much less, and they want lots of that redistributed cash, does concern over Hotcoldwetdry break the 50% barrier. Concern over ISIS is higher, since it tends to be a real threat, unlike the tiny increase in global temperatures (1.4F since 1850).

So, after all this time, after the constant promotion of doom from the news media, special interests, government, this is the best they can do.

It means your side won! Congratulations!

It’s a dead certainty that the world will not stop manmade global warming but will be forced to adapt in the future.

Fossil fuels extraction costs will eventually make renewable energy competitive and oil, gas and coal will die a “natural” economic death. This will likely occur before we’ve burned all the fossil fuels in the Earth, so at worst we’re only baking in a 10-15F increase in the mean global temperature that will last for a millennia. Yes, this will radically change the Earth, its flora and fauna, but yes, humankind will adapt and the species will not become extinct. Will our great-great grandchildren forgive us? What do we care?

I have to keep asking until the AGw crowd comes up with solutions.

WHAT will feed, clothe, power and ensure nations security if its not fossil fuels.

Its not that our side won….Its that there is no alternative.

NONE…..Alternatives can create electricity….the problem is that just to produce all those alternative sources require humongous amounts of fossil fuels just to create the components to make Alterntives viable.

So the question is really not about which side wins or loses IMO….its about HOW do you replace all the things fossil fuels mean for the world.

Once the AGW crowd has solutions….not unproven Ideas but real solutions….then yes fossil fuels are going to win over and over and over again.

Do you think that it’s possible that people in the developed world are more concerned about keeping their jobs, about putting food on the table, decent schools for their kids, and safety for themselves on the public streets?

I can tell you about myself, anyway: I am far, far more concerned about my daughters’ educations, about having a decent place to live, and about having enough resources for our retirement than I am about a problem which may occur fifty or a hundred years down the road, and which, if it really is going to occur, may not even be preventable, regardless of what we do.

  4. Jeffery says:

    Dana,

Of course people are more concerned about the immediate needs of their families – and rightly so. But what exactly are you fighting against? The gradual implementation of a carbon tax.

The doom and gloom from the Denier crowd is false – just part of their propaganda campaign.

  5. john says:

ISIS is a a real threat ??? I will believe THAT when you or other warmongers actually change your lifestyles and go over there and fight them
Isn’t that what you say about the warmists?

  6. Liam Thomas says:

    Tax, tax, tax.

Why do you want to tax something that will not make any difference in the use of fossil fuels. it will only make prices go up and hurt the poor and the middle class which progressive so desperately want to help.

do you really think a tax on carbon will only affect corporations or the rich?

I totally fail to understand this tax mentality by the AGW crowd.

It would be one thing of the tax actually went to R and D on alternatives but it just goes in the general coffers to be spent on weapons or a 1000 things progressives hate.

As for John and his go over and fight ISIS. You seem to be real concerned about global warming affecting the POOR and it is the poor that is being slaughtered by radicals. Why is it that global warming is of such a concern but the slaughter of poor people is not?

Explain that to me……If you can. As a communist who wants to see America’s demise so you can implement your socialist agenda you should be pushing for the USA to spend another trillion in the middle east further bankrupting our nation so that eventually the cloward and piven strategy works to its glorious conclusion.

I fail to comprehend how you fake compassion for those who would be affected by global warming but are totally oblivious to the rape of women and children and the beheading of poor people who cannot defend themselves.

I guess its just because your a troll.
