Pope’s Climate Encyclical Leaked, About As Far Left As Expected

Members of the Cult of Climastrology, mostly comprised of far left Progressives (nice fascists) are thrilled by what the Pope will supposedly say regarding Hotcoldwetdry

(Guardian) Pope Francis will this week call for changes in lifestyles and energy consumption to avert the “unprecedented destruction of the ecosystem” before the end of this century, according to a leaked draft of a papal encyclical. In a document released by an Italian magazine on Monday, the pontiff will warn that failure to act would have “grave consequences for all of us”.

Francis also called for a new global political authority tasked with “tackling … the reduction of pollution and the development of poor countries and regions”. His appeal echoed that of his predecessor, pope Benedict XVI, who in a 2009 encyclical proposed a kind of super-UN to deal with the world’s economic problems and injustices.

So, more global governance, more control of people’s lives. Authoritarianism.

According to the lengthy draft, which was obtained and published by L’Espresso magazine, the Argentinean pope will align himself with the environmental movement and its objectives. While accepting that there may be some natural causes of global warming, the pope will also state that climate change is mostly a man-made problem.

“Humanity is called to take note of the need for changes in lifestyle and changes in methods of production and consumption to combat this warming, or at least the human causes that produce and accentuate it,” he wrote in the draft. “Numerous scientific studies indicate that the greater part of the global warming in recent decades is due to the great concentration of greenhouse gases … given off above all because of human activity.”

Will Pope Francis, and all those who are squeeing over this pronouncment, agree to give up their own modern lifestyles? No fossil fuels, no ice makers, only buying local, handwashing clothes, etc? How much power does Vatican City use? The encyclical blames fossils directly as part of the problem? Will the Pope cancel his upcoming fossil fueled airplane trips?

The leak has frustrated the Vatican’s elaborate rollout of the encyclical – a papal letter to bishops – on Thursday. Its release had been planned to come before the pope’s trip to the US, where he is due to address the United Nations as well as a joint meeting of Congress.

Huh. So he planned to blame fossil fuels right before taking that fossil fueled airplane trip. Weird, right?

The pope will also single out those obstructing solutions. In an apparent reference to climate-change deniers, the draft states: “The attitudes that stand in the way of a solution, even among believers, range from negation of the problem, to indifference, to convenient resignation or blind faith in technical solutions.”

I wonder if Pope Francis has ever heard the statement “you catch more flies with honey than vinegar”? Of course, if he’s still taking fossil fueled flights, that would make him a denier, as it would all the other CoC members who haven’t gone carbon neutral.

Doesn’t look like much, does it? A flat line going back from May 2016. If one continued back, they’d see a spike for around 16 years. Then a long slight cooling period. Then a big spike. Then a pause. All the way back to the Little Ice Age. The current Pause mostly invalidates the computer models of doomy warming, hence the reason for the 70+ excuses, along with the “adjustments” to past data.

But, hey, if Pope Francis is really into the loss of personal freedom to the Cult of Climastrology Progressives (nice fascists) based on junk science, he should start in his own life.

    Im not catholic so Im not a pope apologist but I can see why the pope would push global warming.

    It is after all redistribution of wealth and it does help poor people in theory.

    the problem is that the AGW crowd wants to throw money and poor nations to help them with things they dont need.

    Like Fancy Bill Gates invented hybrid generators to help them create electricity for all those cell phones and computers and microwaves those sheep herders own.

    I mean its preposterous the things the AGW crowd wants to give the poor in the African Sahara. Zuckerberg and Google are engaged in providing the internet to ff;ing poor nomadic sheepherders in africa so they can get more HITS ON FACEBOOK and GOOGLE.

    Good lord.

    At least the pope wants to help the poor and Im pretty sure his plans dont call for cellphones and drones…..but His Naivete on the subject is sorely showing and I doubt he realizes that about 1 percent of any moneys sent by the wealthy nations would actually help the common citizens.

    99 percent of it would end up being used to buy arms, pad the despots bank account and increase the use of force against its own people.

    We tried this in Somalia. Bill Clinton finally had to send the marines and then special forces into Somalia to stop the despot from killing his own people and stealing the food.

    Progressives just dont understand the world other then from a jilted nirvana, lets all get along vision that does not exist anywhere but heaven.

    Thanks Pope…..I suggest you spend some of that money floating around in the Papal bank account and see how it goes….if you succeed…..get back to us.

    The rightwing and proto Nazis have always hated the Pope and are on record for always saying that anyone they disagree with is far left.
    People who demand perfection in others of course can always find some faults. The Pope has made the Vatican go carbon neutral. via solar power. His Popemobile is also all electric.

    The Pope’s individual carbon footprint is insignificant compared to the change that he may be able to do.

    RSS has only been done since sats went up.
    However perhaps you could show us how much the temps have gone up ON THE SURFACE OF THE EARTH since 1970 http://www.climate.gov/news-features/climate-qa/why-did-earth%E2%80%99s-surface-temperature-stop-rising-past-decade
    Ahhh Teach if there has been only slight warming since 1850 what happened to the Arctic Ice Cap?

    You don’t believe the Pope in his statement on ISIS.

    (BTW john, how much of the Pope’s own money did he spend on the solar panels and the Popemobile? Do you agree that the Pope and those working in Vatican City should not pay taxes?)

    Get back to us when you can at least be consistent on the Pope.

    (I am not holding my breath for that.)

    John, no one, including me, is disputing the rise in temps since 1850. I do not dispute the increase since about 1978 to 1997. I even mentioned it in the post. That said, the argument is over causation, no warming, as I’ve stated ad nauseum.

    That said, if we don’t have all this hard data going back much further, how do we know that what is happening isn’t totally normal?

    350 ppm is the maximum safe number

    For comparison, 350 ppm is the highest level that James Hansen says (pdf) we can tolerate if we want to “preserve a planet similar to that on which civilization developed and to which life on Earth is adapted.” More Hansen (my emphasis):

    If humanity wishes to preserve a planet similar to that on which civilization developed and to which life on Earth is adapted, paleoclimate evidence and ongoing climate change suggest that CO2 will need to be reduced from its current 385 ppm to at most 350 ppm, but likely less than that….

    Decreasing CO2 was the main cause of a cooling trend that began 50 million years ago, the planet being nearly ice-free until CO2 fell to 450 ± 100 ppm; barring prompt policy changes, that critical level will be passed, in the opposite direction, within decades.

    So According to James Hansen…the GAWD of AGW were all doomed.

    And another doomsday prediction:

    A scientific study published Sunday in the journal Nature Climate Change concluded that the world’s rapid increase in fossil fuel emissions now makes a global average temperature increase of 2 degrees Celsius all but inevitable. A report released last week by the U.N. Environment Program concluded that given the rapid projected increase in pollution from burning coal, oil, and gas around the world, nations’ current pledges to cut carbon emissions won’t be enough to stave off that 2-degree rise sometime before the end of the century.

    Moreover, a November report from the International Energy Agency found that if action isn’t taken to significantly cut carbon emissions by 2017, the existing power plants, factories, and buildings will be enough to push temperatures past the 2-degree mark. Yet another sobering report last month from the accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers warned that the only way the world can prevent the 2-degree rise is if the global economy cuts its carbon intensity by 5.1 percent every year from now to 2050, essentially slamming the brakes on growth starting right now—and keeping the freeze on for 37 years.

    So Jeffery I have often wondered why your so terrified by AGW if there is literally nothing that can be done…..then I came across another SCARY REPORT……

    Climate change is expected to cause mass human migration, including immigration across international borders, according to a new study by three Princeton University professors and researchers. The researchers — all from the University’s Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs — examined the linkages between variations in climate, agricultural yields and people’s migration responses.

    and bingo!!

    From National Snow and ice Data Center:

    ****** Beginning in late April, Antarctic sea ice extent surpassed the previous satellite-era record set in 2014, and for the entire month of May it has set daily record high ice extents. This makes May 2015 the record high month for the 1979 to 2015 period. As has been the case for several months, ice extent is unusually high in areas of the eastern Ross Sea – western Amundsen Sea, and in the northern and northeastern Weddell Sea. Unusually high extent has developed over the Davis Sea area of the far southern Indian Ocean.

    Antarctic sea ice extent for May 2015 averaged 12.10 million square kilometers (4.67 million square miles). The linear rate of increase for May is now 2.88% per decade for the period 1979 to 2015.******

    They even claim that there has been a linear increase in Antarctic sea ice of some 2.88 percent per decade for the last 36 years and yet…..all the ice is melting.

    So John Im confused. You continually point to stuff that disproves what your trying to prove.

    Another link in this topic points to NOAA which says…there has been no significant temperature rise in the last 15 years which is What Teach says……I Mean comeone read your own article.

    They then try to explain this away while acknowledging that indeed as teach says there has been no significant increase.

    I suggest that you actually study AGW and get on board with the prevailing theories of your group…..that is that its not the sea ice that is a problem……..why is that you ask?

    Because Sea Ice is influenced in untold ways which we cant fathom yet and….

    AND…..

    Sea Ice melting or freezing is already accounted for in the oceans elevation…think of a glass of Ice water…when all the ice melts the level of water in the cup does not change.

    Now if you want to dig your heels in and talk about melting ice then you need to talk about the Greenland Ice sheet and the Antarctic continental ice sheet…..Then you might actually start to have a position that would need some discussion.

    Exactly nothing like what you linked. Did you mean to link that? If you did intentionally link that article did you mean to imply that Deniers (e.g., Koch Brothers) had the NOAA computers hacked and corrupted the data and that’s why of all the datasets, only the RSS shows no warming?
