Good Grief: People Protest In Texas Over “Pool Party”

Everyone keeps saying that the video from the McKinney (illegal and against the community HOAs) pool party is hard to watch. Of course, they mean because of the supposed way these kids were being treated. It’s actually hard to watch because we see kids running rampant, refusing to listen to law enforcement, charging an officer causing him to pull his gun. Police officers are humans, and they get tired of listening to a bunch of hooligans, and telling them to settle down, especially when the kids are the ones who were in violations

(Fox News) Hundreds of demonstrators rallied outside an elementary school in a Dallas suburb Monday in response to a video that showed a white police officer pushing and pinning a black teenage girl to the ground before drawing his gun on two others who tried to intervene.

KDFW reported that many of the protesters came from outside the town of McKinney, about 35 miles northeast of Dallas. They held signs that included the phrases, “My skin color is not a crime,” and, “Don’t tread on our kids.” More than 150 people were part of a counter-protest on a nearby corner, waving flags and holding signs that said “Back the Blue.”

No, your skin color is not a crime, particularly since white kids were involved, as well. The party itself was a crime, as was trespassing, jumping the pool fence, fighting, assaulting the security guard, destruction of property, resisting, failing to listen to a duly sworn peace officer, and aggressively approaching a police officer.  As far as “treading on our kids”, where were the parents of these kids? Perhaps they should have taught them better values. Yes, kids will be kids, and I think we can all understand that many might have been upset about being invited to this party, reportedly being charged $15 for attendance, then being kicked out because the party was illegal per the HOA rules. Of course, that’s still no excuse for the fights, property destruction, etc.

A few dozen addressed the crowd through a bullhorn, including Derrick Golden, a pastor from McKinney who met earlier with the city’s police Chief Greg Conley. He said Conley “responded appropriately” in placing the officer, 41-year-old Eric Casebolt, on administrative leave following the incident. However, Golden said he would push for Casebolt to be fired due to the officer’s use of profanity and his brandishing of the gun.

But Benét Embry, a black local radio personality who witnessed the incident, said it was “not another Ferguson” or “another Baltimore,” referring to other police encounters that have left suspects dead and fueled a nationwide “Black Lives Matter” movement.

Let’s assume that Officer Casebolt went a little too far. That wouldn’t have happened if the illegal party hadn’t taken place, if the kids weren’t trespassing, abusing the security guard and residents (who pay a fee for the pool), fighting, etc and so on.

Robert Taylor, a criminology professor at the University of Texas at Dallas who has done studies for the McKinney Police Department, said both the officer and the teens at the pool party acted inappropriately.

The teens were not following police orders, he said, but the officer’s decision to pull out his gun did not help.

“That’s not the way we’re trained,” he said. “We’re trained in policing to de-escalate problem encounters like this. … Obviously, that officer lost his cool. No doubt about it.”

Maybe he did lose his cool. Police are human, and they certainly can get tired of the hooligan behavior, the yelling, the cursing, and do not appreciate anyone aggressively approaching them when they are attempting to restrain someone else, as the video shows.

Overall, this is typical. Something happens, and people go overboard in their protests, totally forgetting that the people they are protesting in support of were acting in a lawless manner. Perhaps they should spend their energy in teaching the kids civilized behavior, instead of attempting to ruin other people’s lives. By the way, residents of the neighborhood are being harassed and abused, and even threatened. Why aren’t the social justice warriors worried about that?

I was taught that you never point a gun at someone unless you intend to shoot them.

While I do not support people being disrespectful towards others, I also don’t think that resulting to the most extreme amount of force immediately is a solution to civil unrest.

As you can see, now there will be more protests and potentially more violence and destruction.

The police need to learn what I learned as a kid.and as I stated in the beginning. Unless you plan of shooting someone dead, your weapon does not leave your holster.

Police should have procedures of escalation to follow and stop starting off with the last step. Police also should stop being the lone wolf and not requiring back up when there is a disturbance issue involving a crowd of people.

If I can get maced in my own backyard over a recreational fire, why can’t these kids? There is an arsenal of tools available before an officer draws his weapon and potentially starts to gun people down.

Mind you, the outrage is regarding the use of a gun in a situation where no guns are being used.

I know I have heard some people say, “but their hands are weapons”. Well, that is why there are batons, stun guns, tasers, mace and special hand to hand combat training available to an officer. Kids should not be that hard to take down should they want to challenge authority.

While I am not for government, I do believe in natural authority and if I’m the owner or manager of a particular private pool party and there are tresspassers who refuse to leave, you better believe that I will call up the Calvary and subdue the criminals.

The problem here is the hooligans are in the wrong and the police are in the wrong…. Now it’s up to the rest of us to stop taking sides and deal with punishing both sides.

    Michael,

You must not have watched the entire video or read witness statements.

The cop was not a “lone wolf.” His partner had begun chasing someone after he too was assaulted.

Yes, there are tasers, batons, mace, etc, but the mace is a distance weapon. The taser is a one discharge weapon. Batons can be overcome by numbers. The cop didn’t pull his weapon until he is assaulted by others while subduing the little snowflake for who believed the law doesn’t apply to her.

Remember that the cops were called to a disturbance where there was a large group of kids that were fighting and trespassing. The cops told them to disburse. That was the least amount of force there could be. In fact, there is no force in “go home.” But the mob mentality took over and the kids refused to obey lawful orders and decided to attack an officer. The officer, faced with 4 to one odds pulled his weapon.

The cop did not initiate the use of force, but was responding to it.

Most people would have done the same thing.

This is a case where the liberal narrative doesn’t fit the facts.

  3. john says:

It was announced today that police officer who used the racial profanities and was kneeling on the back of the 14 year old child has resigned

  4. gitarcarver says:

Only one officer was seen kneeling on the back of a lawbreaker and there is no evidence from the video that he used any racial slurs.

So I guess you have created another fantasy in your mind.

Oh, and by the way, thanks to people like you, the cop who did resign (as opposed to your imaginary cop) received death threats from people. Residents who spoke out in support of the cops have had their homes vandalized and they too have been threatened.

That’s the type of actions you support.

The cop resigned from the police department after 10 years of good service. After liars like you condemned him based on other lies, he could never know when his next call would be a set up resulting in his death.

Go ahead and defend the threats john. Go ahead and defend the vandalism against those who spoke out telling the truth.

You can’t and you know it.

  5. Jeffery says:

At a press conference Tuesday announcing Casebolt’s resignation, the city’s police chief called his actions in the video indefensible.

“Our policies, our training, our practice, do not support his actions,” Police Chief Greg Conley said. “He came into the call out of control, and as the video shows, was out of control during the incident.”

    and:

Pete Schutle, a former McKinney police officer and “longtime reserve deputy,” spoke to Fox4 Dallas and blasted the conduct of Eric Casebolt, the police corporal shown slamming a 15-year-old girl in a swimsuit to the ground.

“I don’t care what she was yelling at that officer. Anything would not have justified throwing her to the ground and pushing her down and throwing her face into the concrete like he did,” Schutle said.

Schulte also said there was no reason for Casebolt to have drawn his weapon and described Casebolt’s reaction to the situation as “crazy.”

Police professionals, including the police union, won’t defend Casebolt’s actions, yet the right-wing commentariat does defend him, criticizing a young Black girl as a thug in the process. How dare she resist when a big man tries to beat her.

Other professionals have defended Casebolt and his actions.

The Chief of Police has to keep the peace in his city and so it is not inconceivable that he would lie to protect the peace.

Of course, people like Jeffery won’t address the fact that the girl was breaking the law. They won’t address the fact that the girl left and came back to re-enter the fray. They won’t address the fact that the girl’s friends attack the officer and one reaches into his waistband after which Casebolt reaches for his gun.

Yeah, the cop is the bad guy because the cops aren’t there to protect people and property, they are there to be victims of race-baiting butt wipes like Jeffery.

  7. Jeffery says:

What exactly did the girl do that warranted Casebolt’s assault? Just because you would be afraid if some Black youngsters were around you, and would panic and overreact, you are not a trained peace officer paid to serve and protect. Casebolt is was.

If a Black officer had groped and abused a little bikinied white girl the way Casebolt assaulted this child you’d be whistling another tune.

Decent Americans watched the video and were appalled by Casebolt’s behavior. He was immediately suspended, er, placed on administrative leave because he abused a child and pointed his gun at other kids. You guys should chalk this up as a loss for your side, a victory for decency, take your sheets off, and fight another day.

There will be more incidents, and without video, so you’ll once again be able to thump your chests and talk about “those” thugs and hooligans.

Bait and switch. Only blacks, hispanics and progressives are decent folks……the rest of us wear Sheets, thump our chests and cry “thugs and hooligans.”

If a Black officer had groped and abused a little bikinied white girl the way Casebolt assaulted this child you’d be whistling another tune.

The Police officer has resigned. His actions as the police chief put it were INDEFENISIBLE…..as is this post.

The only true racist on these forums from what I have seen is this Astro-turfing agitator. However he is probably not really racist….hes just being paid to Race Bait, Bait and switch and drum up anger on Conservative/right websites.

  9. Jeffery says:

Her friends bravely risked their lives by coming to her aid while she was being assaulted by a “crazy” man with a gun. The “out of control” man then pointed his gun at the other kids who wisely ran from him. The “crazy” man’s colleagues prevented him from killing some kid.

White conservatives are frightened by Black people whom they often refer to as thugs, animals, savages and hooligans in blogs and worse terms in private.

  10. Jeffery says:

    gitarcarver,

You’re the only one left defending Casebolt.
