Another day, another Warmist losing his mind. In this case, it is the Washington Post’s Tom Toles
Remember how the GOP swept into the Senate by promising to cripple the EPA and its ability to enforce its mandate to protect against pollution that will damage the climate? No, they really didn’t get a mandate for that, but details, details,they are planning to try it anyway.
Yes, they are. They plan on pushing the Keystone XL pipeline through, and limiting the EPA mission creep, which ranges anywhere from their absurd economy killing regulations on “climate change” to wetlands overreach to many other things of which there is massive mission creep/overreach (read here, here, here, and so many more).
Is anyone surprised? No, because this is how they operate. Get people mad about this thing over here, and then get elected and go to work on this other thing over there. The other thing in this instance is the EPA, and the work to be done is to get the EPA out of the way of the fossil fuel industry’s ability to offload carbon waste into the atmosphere. The industry’s profit model is profits for them and somebody else pays to deal with the climate consequences. What a deal!
Carbon waste! That’s a new one. I wonder if Tom has given up his own use of fossil fuels?
But doesn’t the GOP dispute the science on climate change? Well yes they do, of course, because there is no other way to execute this particular policy play if you have to face the data squarely. So they deny the facts, do a mumble-mumble campaign about feckless Obama something-something, get elected, and then go about their dirty business of facilitating climate disaster for the short-term profits of their core corporate constituency.
Climate disaster! Because that massive, whopping, gigantic 1.4F increase in global temperatures in 160 years is like the apocalypse, y’all! Especially with the 18+ years of no statistically significant warming. Here’s the money quote

An immoral agenda! Interestingly, Democrats had two full years of controlling the House, Senate, and White House, and did not pass anything. And the GOP will destroy the climate! Someone has lost their mind.
I don’t believe that most conservatives and Repubicans are intentionally destroying America and the world. They just don’t know any better.
Ronald Reagan believed that cutting taxes on the wealthy and increasing taxes on the workers would help. He was just ignorant, not malicious.
Most of the right-wing followers are the same way. Ignorant, not malicious.
The leaders on the other hand are not ignorant – but are maliciously selfish. Rush and Sean and Cruz and Rand and Boehner (maybe not Boehner) understand the nature of global warming and are playing their followers for the ignorant, misled saps they are.

Funny thing how Reagan’s economic plan, limited as it was by the Democrats, sufficed to keep the economy going for 20 years. This despite the efforts of Bush and Clinton to derail it with tax increases. Note that Clinton got an economic boost only because of manipulation of the Fed.

The St. Reagan hagiography continues. Are we still under the influence of St. Ron’s economic wisdom? We seem to be. Low taxes, low regulation, deficit spending… all things that St. Ron supported. It’s funny how St. Ron’s good times didn’t occur until 1992.
The fact is much of what is wrong now can be lain at the grave of ridiculously corrupt St. Ron. Deficits, neglected infrastructure, worsening distribution of wealth… he was actually correct in causing the deep recession of the early 80s, even though it threw 10s of millions out of work. It was very Keynesian of him and Volcker. Desperate times call for honest measures. He was correct in raising taxes on the working classes to better Social Security. He was wrong to cut taxes on the wealthy and double the national debt, though.

David- Jeffery just doesn’t understand economics or for that matter, a good Google search. He also provides about as much data for his economic assertions as the climate astrologers do for climate- almost nothing. “Reagan cut taxes on the wealthy..” Oh, my, hear we go again. Actually, Reagan cut almost everyone’s taxes, but he hit tax shelters hard. He lowered the top rate from 50% to 28%, but also curbed special deductions, exclusions and breaks, and left the richest 1% paying a slightly higher share of the total than they did before. He also allowed tax brackets, the standard deduction and personal exemptions to adjusted for inflation. And again, contrary to J’s dreary mantra of “tax cuts for the rich”, he also raised taxes on the rich (whatever that is), by raising the capital gains tax from 20% to 28%. But professor J counters that by stating “he was wrong to do that.” Brilliant criticism, J.

I want to make something clear. I am not answering or engaging with you as I have no respect for you. You clearly are not at my level in education and life experience. The people on this comment board feel you are a fool, as do I. My best advice is to go home and count all this money you seem to have. I seriously doubt that you understand how to help the poor and destitute with all your boutiful wealth.
