What Say To The TSA Being More Polite As They Grope You?

There could be legislation for that

(The Hill) Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-Va.) is threatening to introduce a bill requiring the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to be more polite to airline passengers.

During a hearing about the TSA’s Screening Partnership Program that took place this week, Connolly said passengers would likely cooperate more with TSA agents if the agency’s workers used better manners when they deliver their instructions.

“There’s no excuse for someone barking orders continuously at the public at any airport in America who is an employee of the federal government, or a contractor for the federal government,” Connolly said. “I’d lose my job if I treated the public that way and rightfully so. My staff would be fired if I find that they treated my public that way.”

In the public sector, you’d lose your job for groping people, much less being rude. You might face criminal charges and/or a lawsuit. Heck, there have been plenty of lawsuits where law enforcement officials have been sued for groping citizens. Would it really make any difference if they were more polite as they grope you? It might a little bit. When I received an enhanced pat-down at LAX back in 2010 (I have a stainless steel rod in my leg which usually sets off the machines), the TSA agent avoided “personal” areas and had the good sense to be polite and contrite. I had the feeling that he really, really did not want to be doing this.

Do we really need legislation to tell the TSA to be polite to citizens? If so, that should tell you something about the culture of the TSA. Now, if Connolly really wants to do something, he should add in that the enhanced pat-downs should be done behind screens, rather than having everyone in the airport watch people get groped. Second, there needs to be some serious common sense in exactly who gets the EPDs.

And maybe understand who we really need to be worried about are not the ones getting groped. But should be.

Also, to diverge a bit, perhaps he could have a talk with Mr. Obama, who seems to like to treat American’s who disagree with him in a rather shoddy manner.

Remove the TSA out from gov’t control, placing them back under Airport Security. That will force them to live under standards.

Was one of the worst decisions ever creating the TSA and then letting them create a union. Our world is upside-down.

First you have to ask, why do we need the TSA or any other agency bothering us if we are not breaking the law? If you think that the people screening passengers getting on a plane has anything to do with security, then you would likely believe anything, like global warming. For some reason, we have to break the 4th amendment for everyone and thus ignore our primary laws. A legal way of handling the situation is to observe that Muslims almost have a monopoly on the killing of innocent people. So you are legally justified in isolating these people as a group and restricting them. That is allowed by the Constitution. This would be real security, not the play acting. Now, some jerk is going to say that other peoples have committed mass murder, that is true, but not with the consistency of the Muslims over the last 60 years. Then, you hold other nations responsible for the bad actions of their citizens here. Of course, we now have a large number of the folks here, and they need to be segregated until they alter their views. That also is legal. I know a number of Muslims and they don’t think like us and definitely do not have our values, they all, to a person, will not condemn the more radical elements of their group (I refuse to say religion). Then someone will say, but some Muslims are white. True, but in the last 10 years, if we don’t have a record of every Muslim the is here, then we need to put our leaders in jail. Then some one will say, but they have freedom of religion. And that is true, they can worship however they desire, only they will be under increased scrutiny.

“A legal way of handling the situation is to observe that Muslims almost have a monopoly on the killing of innocent people.”

Of course, this statement is false to the point of ridiculousness. Few of the murders that occur in the US each year are at the hands of Muslims. Most murders in the US are committed by young men, and if they’re religious they’re most likely Christians. Perhaps we should segregate all young men in the US from the ages of 15 to 30 for high school, college, technical school, military and community service (all under increased surveillance). This would save 10,000 lives a year in the US; saving more lives each year than the Muslims have killed in the US total.

If Muslims are responsible for the almost daily shootings at schools, malls and public events occurring in the US, I’m not aware of it.

This is why I keep so many guns at home. If the far-right were to ever take control of the US government we would see a pogrom of Muslims, gays, browns, blacks, liberals, progressives… anyone who would “not alter their views”. It would be “not-so-nice fascism”.

Remember: With the far-right it is always projection. The processes and outcomes you say you fear the most are the ones you would favor for others. david would have no problem “segregating” those who do not think as he does.

Because of the far-right’s cloistered lives, most think their radical views are more widely accepted than they are. Most far-right politicians recognize that they must keep their beliefs hidden from the general public.

    Also,

I’ve been through TSA screens multiple times, including the infamous “groping pat-downs”. I’ve even asked them if this was the thorough pat-downs that lit up the right-wing punditcritters. They said yes.

Not once was it groping, not once have they been rude. They have been serious and businesslike.

This is just another anti-government, right-wing myth.

  5. Missing_Springy_Gumballs says:

Oh, I guess everything is alright then.

  6. Jeffery says:

    As I said, right-wing myth.

  7. gitarcarver says:

    Right wing myth?

A convicted TSA security officer says he was part of a “culture” of indifference that allowed corrupt employees to prey on passengers’ luggage and personal belongings with impunity, thanks to lax oversight and tip-offs from TSA colleagues.

    Some “myth.”

  8. david7134 says:

    Jeff,
You seriously need help. How did we go from the TSA to anything to do with everyday murder? Then you go on about white people doing the murders. Have you even bothered to look at the stats? Considering your previous comments, all you do is get information for low information web sites and the TV. You have no knowledge or life experiences. Grow up.

  9. I guess Jeff missed where the legislation is being offered by a Democrat. And that lots of Dems, including elected ones like Claire McCaskill, have been groped.

This is not a partisan issue. Groups on the left and right have issues. Including the ACLU. I’ve seen people rage on the Democratic Underground, Daily Los, and other liberal sites.

Yet, here comes Jeff, who apparently lives being groped. Anyone want to bet he was anti-TSA when Bush was POTUS?

  10. Jeffery says:

    david,

You are beyond help and will never grow up.

Here’s what you typed: “A legal way of handling the situation is to observe that Muslims almost have a monopoly on the killing of innocent people.”

Please show where I said one word, much less “going on” about “white people doing the murders”. You white supremacists are so sensitive that you see things that aren’t there!
