Democrats Introduce Hotcoldwetdry Preparedness Bill

It’s not the first time they’ve tried this: they attempted to include it in the American Clean Energy and Security Act, but it did not pass

(Noozhawk) Rep. Lois Capps, D-Santa Barbara, joined by Reps. Ed Markey of Massachusetts, Doris Matsui of California and Jan Schakowsky of Illinois, on Friday introduced legislation to improve the nation’s public health response to climate change.

The Climate Change Health Protection and Promotion Act would address the negative health effects related to climate change by supporting research, surveillance, planning, and interagency coordination to develop national plan for action.

Strange, these are all Reps who take fossil fueled flights to get to Washington.

“One of the most troubling and immediate impacts of climate change is its harmful effects on public health,” Capps said. “Regardless of what one believes about its causes, climate change is very real. The heat waves, droughts, wildfires and extreme weather events that are happening with greater frequency and intensity have a profound impact on public health that we’re only beginning to understand. We have to provide our public health officials with the tools and resources they need to effectively track and prepare for these significant public health challenges.”

We have to save you from bad weather. Only Government can Do This. It’s Good And Right And You Should Listen To Your Betters.

Capps’ legislation would help improve the public health response to the challenges posed by climate change by directing the secretary of Health and Human Services to develop a National Strategic Action Plan to assist health professionals in preparing for and responding to the public health effects of climate change.

Hmm, seems it would create more Big Government and government employees, all to tell you what to do (at the force of law). Why does it seem that every prescription is about Progressivism and erosion of liberty? All for a 1.4F increase in temps since the end of the Little Ice Age, with a miniscule 0.28F increase since 1990, 0.14F since 1997, and the reality that it was much warmer during the Global Climate Optimum, when excellent wines were grown in Britain and Vikings turned farmers in Greenland, things that could not happen with today’s temperatures.

Could you give your source that it was “much warmer” during the global climate optimum and please tell us when THAT was? Was that culled from some foreign newspaper like the Daily Mail? According to NOAA (National Ocean Atmospheric Administration) it was NOT warmer in the Northern Hemisphere anytime in the last 1300 years.

And England has had wine produced since when the romans arrived and wrote about it. http://www.information-britain.co.uk/historydetails/article/2/
Teach really before you cut and paste from someone else you should look for PRIMARY SOURCES to verify that information. Didn’t they teach that in school?
Teach any bets on the minimum Arctic Ice Extent this year ?

Really john there are times when you do things that are so hysterical that it is hard to type a response.

You want “primary sources” to justify a position and then cite Wikipedia?

    That’s really really funny.

But the joke keeps getting better. When one clicks on the article john cites, they are met with this cheery message:

No file by this name exists.

    And…..

No pages on the English Wikipedia link to this file.

Finally, john cites an article and declares it to show:

And England has had wine produced since when the romans arrived and wrote about it.

The article says no such thing. The article does say the following:

In the 20th century vineyards began to be planted in England, but their Roman equivalents predated them by 1600 years and more: there have been major vineyard finds at Wollaston in Northamptonshire, where more than 30 acres were covered by vines, part of a concentration in the Nene Valley; though others existed in Buckinghamshire, Cambridgeshire and Lincolnshire, and very possibly elsewhere too.

In other words, the Brits weren’t producing wine continuously as john contends and the 20th century vines they planted are known to be genetically modified to be able to take the colder climate of the British Isles better.

It is not a shock that john lied, as that is what liberals do.

What is shocking is that basic lack of understanding of the term “primary sources” and then linking to an article that doesn’t exist as an example of a “primary source.”

This blog doesn’t have an emoticon that accurately displays the hilarity of that.

  3. Even the biggest GW cheerleaders on the planet -the BBC- is giving up on this claptrap

  4. John, search “ipcc ar1 medieval warm period”, then flip to images. The first one (if you get the same as I am on Droid) is what appeared in the AR1, before it was made to disappear because it messes up the narrative that this was mans fault.

I could give you data set after data set showing higher temps during each of the pvious warm periods, but, to what point? You’ve failed to pay attention to those I’ve posted before. You’ve no interest in changing your mind, just like you have no interest in practicing what you preach.

Bye the way, it’s funny that you mention the Roman times, because the Roman Warm Period was also warmer than the current warm period, allowing for the cultivation of grapes. Which mostly stopped during the time betweeen it and th MWP.

The depressing part for me is that Doris is my Representative. She inherited the job from her dead husband, somehow. It wasn’t real clear.

I would’ve called an election, myself.

  6. john says:

maybe it will include tornado preparedness.

Serious what does “climate change” have to do with public health? I mean, more than what people are already dealing with?

Capps’ legislation would help improve the public health response to the challenges posed by climate change

Do we really need Federal Legislation to tell us that we need to focus on health?

by directing the secretary of Health and Human Services

Yeah, like she can be trusted. Are we going to be telling her specifics are just leaving it up to her general discretion again?

to develop a National Strategic Action Plan

They haven’t done so already? If not, why not? Shouldn’t the Dept of Health be doing something about … health?

to assist health professionals in preparing for and responding to the public health effects of climate change.

Shouldn’t they be doing that already? Seriously? After all these decades, shouldn’t they be focusing on health by now?
