You Used Your Washing Machine, So A Whale Appeared In SF Bay

Because whales, and nature, are supposed to be completely predictable and never, ever change

(Slate) A 15-foot newborn gray whale calf and its mom are an unusual sight in San Francisco Bay,….

….but some scientists say the recent visitors are yet another sign of a changing climate and shifting life patterns in the ocean.

(Video of the whales at the link.)

Crap. Whales enter the bay all the time. They just don’t usually make the trip to Sacramento

    Hahahahaha.

I misread the first line and thought it said:

“(Slate) A 15-foot newborn gay whale calf and its mom are an unusual sight in San Francisco Bay,…”

  3. Gumball_Brains says:

Ok.. QUICK.. Someone go kill it. Before they spread to where they don’t belong.

What? You mean this is normal and that the whales’ return is actually a good thing and a sign of a “return” to normality?

    Say it ain’t so.

  4. No, no, see whales are supposed to follow a set schedule and track just like NY subway system.

Can’t you just hear someone in SF saying ” Fabulous!”?

  5. gitarcarver says:

Here in Florida, there have been record numbers of manatee deaths the past few years.

It is somewhat puzzling to scientists and people that track these things because the manatees are freezing.

There are some theories but as of yet, not one can figure out how with AGW, the waters are colder than the sea cows are used to.

  6. Trish says:

What is puzzling, is how the AGW crowd can twist any event; whether natural, recurring, new, historic, returning, unwelcome, welcome etc. into a reason for them to worry and fret over global temperature changes and especially who is to blame for it. As though we could even do anything to stop these occurrences! Well, short of shooting the whales of course. And heating the colder water that is killing the manatees. (say with nuke reactor cooling water????)

  7. Give them time, GT, give them time. There have also been record number of other creatures, like turtles, washing up dead from cold. Someone used a DVR and made the Earth cold.

Well, you know Trish, the climate and weather were stagnant before Man created automatic ice makers, so, no matter what, it is our fault for record snow in Alaska and Europe.
