Bummer: “Chamber Of Commerce Pushes Civilization Ending Pollution Agenda”

Warmists like Brad Johnson are so cute when they are at their most deranged. And, yes, that is the exact headline in quotation marks. Think Progress’ is almost the same

(Grist, and crossed at Think Progress Green) Thursday morning, U.S. Chamber of Commerce President Tom Donohue argued that “free enterprise” requires a future of accelerated, unending global warming. Supporting expanded fracking, shale oil, and tar-sands development, including the Keystone XL pipeline, Donohue said that the United States should burn hundreds of billions of tons of fossil fuels for hundreds of years:

We have 1.4 trillion barrels of oil, enough to last at least 200 years. We have 2.7 quadrillion cubic feet of natural gas, enough to last 120 years. We have 486 billion tons of coal, enough to last more than 450 years — and we need to use more of this strategic resource cleanly and wisely here at home while selling it around the world.

Burning that amount of fossil fuel would generate 444 billion metric tons of carbon dioxide from the oil, 135 billion tons from the natural gas, and 1.3 trillion tons from the coal. To maintain a climate compatible with civilization, all of humanity needs to limit future greenhouse pollution to less than 650 billion tons [PDF].

Far from “keeping the American Dream alive for generation after generation,” as Donohue claims, his promotion of catastrophic global warming would grant a diminished, deadly world to future generations.

Hey, wait, didn’t civilization truly rise with the use of fossil fuels? Didn’t it allow us to stop using horses who pooped in the streets and whale oil to light our residences? Allow Mankind to travel and do *gulp* science? And hasn’t mankind truly expanded and moved civilization forwards through tremendous leaps during this current warm period? And seen civilization regress during cool periods?

Do they have any information that truly indicates that CO2 has anything to do with weather, besides the speculation of a number a scientist paid by grant money to produce a certain result?? Or do they have any evidence that curtailing the production of CO2 has anything to do with alterations, present or future, in a meanful change in the environment, expecially as the earth itself produces most of the CO2?

Well, I for one welcome our new reptile overlords!

  3. Evidence, David, you’re asking for evidence? You must be one of those deniers

    Heh! Good one, Mojo.

  4. Word says:

Yep I and every other denier that I know is all for clean air, clean water and clean environment.

I am all for corporate responsibility in maintaining a pristine environment for my chillen and grand chillen.

Pollution DOES NOT EQUATE to global warming. DOES NOT EQUATE to CO2.

Pollution and AGW are two entirely different things.

Pollution is real. AGW is nonsense.

    true story bro.
