This is so terrible, I mean, really, really horrible, one of the worst things ever! Not quite as bad as when she said she “had visited 57 states, and had one more to go*”, but, eeeeeeeeeeek!
Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann stepped all over Elvis Presley’s blue suede shoes while stumping Tuesday, when she mistakenly wished “The King” a “Happy Birthday.”
August 16 actually marks the 34th anniversary of Presley’s death.
“Before we get started, let’s all say ‘Happy Birthday’ to Elvis Presley today,” Bachmann greeted event attendees at a “Join Team Bachmann” rally in Spartanburg, SC.
“We played you a little bit of Promise Land when we pulled up. You can’t do better than Elvis Presley and we thought we would celebrate his birthday as we get started celebrating taking our country back to work.”
I’ve always wondered, why in the hell do the Elvis fans celebrate his death, instead of his birth? Kinda morose and morbid, don’t ya think? And, CNN, besides failing to note that Bachmann is running for President, goes for a bit of sexism
But Presley’s birthday is in January, so the tea party darling’s well wishes are eight months too late.
Anyhow, the commenters at Alan Colmes spot, where he writes “But she meant well”, are mentioning her 57 state gaffe quite a bit, too.
But I wonder if she will visit all 57 states

how much you wanna bet she meant it that way? I doubt it… but, wouldn’t it be completely mind-blowing if she meant that as a real sneaky slam… like, you idiots celebrate his death like his birthday!!
but… yeah, I doubt it too.. and… yeah, unfortunately, I think this is a big ouch.
There has got to be someone on her staff dedicated to prevent such gaffes.
Surely on the bus ride or trip from the airport the subject of this birthday must have come up. Any candidate can only afford some many things like this. For that matter the ability to select competent help is a necessary leadership skill.
I rather suspect her handlers are graduates of the public school system…..
Which means……..
They dont have a ff’ing clue about much of anything.
