Law Of Unintended Consequences Hits Liberal Low Flow Toilets

Remember, in Liberal World, it is all about intentions, not outcomes

  1. Have a gripe, Someone needs to do something
  2. Pass a law based on feelings
  3. Unintended shit happens

And, by “shit”, well, um,

San Francisco’s big push for low-flow toilets has turned into a multimillion-dollar plumbing stink.

Skimping on toilet water has resulted in more sludge backing up inside the sewer pipes, said Tyrone Jue, spokesman for the city Public Utilities Commission. That has created a rotten-egg stench near AT&T Park and elsewhere, especially during the dry summer months.

I think you can figure out what the “sludge” mostly is. Being a Dodgers fan, I’m not surprised that it seems to be near where the San Fran Giants play, but, well, it’s a good thing the city hasn’t spent $100 million over the past 5 years to the sewer system and sewer plant, partly because of the odor or something…..they did? Damn.

Now officials are stocking up on a $14 million, three-year supply of highly concentrated sodium hypochlorite – better known as bleach – to act as an odor eater and to disinfect the city’s treated water before it’s dumped into the bay. It will also be used to sanitize drinking water.

That translates into 8.5 million pounds of bleach either being poured down city drains or into the drinking water supply every year.

Of course, some people have a problem with this plan to fix the plan that was to have fixed the low flow toilet plan. Double of course, no one is thinking “hey, maybe we should just go back to regular toilets, because people tend to flush low flow toilets multiple times and use more water anyhow.”

BTW, that “big push” was by government decree.

    A perfect money maker!
Black Market high capacity but illegal toilets imported from Canadah!!!

Exactly right Teach, they jump to knee jerk conclusions, install these pieces of shit (pun intended) toilets to stop using so much water; not considering the resulting effect of backed up sewers, because they wanted to LOOK like they were doing something good for the environment.
THIS is where we OUGHT to be putting technology to work- figuring out a) why we have liberals and b) where we can find a big enough toilet to get rid of them in!

  3. Probably more like China, Serfer. Canada has the same thing. Which makes a whole lot of sense in a country which has a big problem with freezing pipes, eh?

At some point, Trish, Liberals are going to finally realize that what they are doing causes more harm than good, and change their tunes…..sorry, can’t finish, laughing too hard. They’ll always put intentions over results, and do something dumb to fix the dumb they originally did.

Funny that you should mention that. I was talking to a guy in the grocery store about plastic bags vs the “recycled bags” that use more energy in the long run.

We were both cordial and it was a nice discussion.

He finally said, “well, there are no perfect answers and at least we are doing something.”

I responded with “but what you are doing is more harmful than the problem you were trying to cure. I applaud your ‘best intentions’ but in something like this, don’t results matter more than intentions?”

He responded, “No, as long a we are trying, that is what matters.”

    Style over substance.

    Gitarcarver meet liberal wacko.

It doesn’t matter the results, it only matters that government did something. And continues to do it despite the results.

You would think the SanFran enviro wackos would be all up in arms over this plan. Just think of how much bleached water is getting dumped back in to the bay or ocean? Granted, you want to stop RED TIDE from forming from your own waste, but you also don’t want to sterilize the Pacific Ocean.

I fully agree with such opinion!

Wait till you see what the bleach will do to the pipes and equipment.

  13. captainfish says:

I am also wondering what all that extra bleach in the water will do to their bacteria-laden water treatment facilities? you know, the bacteria that is used to kill and eat all the bad stuff in the water?

  14. conner says:

Did thay say $14 million in bleach? Holy stink bomb batman. What if it doesn’t work, now what, salt water from the bay?

    Too funny!
