Efficient Cook Stove Movement Gains Steam

Why, yes, climate morons do want everyone(else) to live like it’s 1499

From building your own masonry rocket stove, through distributing efficient cook stoves in Haiti, to the New Yorker’s coverage of the Aprovecho Research center, the idea that burning wood much more efficiently could help slow climate change and aid developing countries is no secret here on TreeHugger. But it seems like the idea may be spreading—with international aid agencies around the globe championing low-cost, ultra efficient stoves that could change the lives of millions. There’s just a small question regarding what is the best way to do it.

And what do they think is awesome?

No worries, though. The folks at Treehugger have their modern, 21st century stoves. They just want folks in third world shit holes, er, developing countries, to never develop.

    FYI,
I keep a trash pile out back. When it gets to about 20 feet, we light the sucher. So let them do their little do good effort, I am always there to counter the effort with my pile.

“Since the quake, Trees, Water & People has sent 430 stoves as part of an emergency aid effort. The energy-efficient, low-cost cookstoves can be used by displaced people to boil contaminated water and cook beans and rice.”

Two million were made homeless after the earthquake and it is estimated that over 800,000 are now living in the tent “cities” in the hills.

430 stoves? 430? Are you kidding me?
How can they even report on this nonsense?

Where is all the money raised, people? Why is there still no access to clean water?

Incompetence is still incompetence regardless of good intentions.

However, the reason they are cheap is the cheap Chinese manual labor. But, am not too sure how those would work in a family larger than 2 or 3.

And, who is paying for all these massive number (400) stoves to be delivered to the millions of Haitians struggling to survive?

Here’s an idea. How about delivering actual food and water to those starving disease-riddled people!?!?

Or, how about… forcing their government to take care of them. If it won’t then … help the people depose the govt.

Why prop up the dictatorial gov’t by giving it free supplies and resources?!?!?!

  4. Could’ve used that trash burning back during the very cold December and January, David. Please light it earlier in the future 🙂

Well, you know, Maggie, in Liberal World, it is about intentions and a good speech, rather than results.

Well, Captain, intentions. It makes liberal feel good, even though people are starving, lack potable water, basic sanitation, cholera is on the rise. But, liberals feel good.

  5. captainfish says:

Well, that IS all that matters…. good intentions.

Like giving a new shopping cart to the homeless. makes their lives better.

Sometimes good things come from others misery. In this case, the turmoil in Haiti draws the attention of Sean Penn and keeps him out of our business.
