Yes, Obama has continued his backyard campaign stops, partly pushing his healthcare plan (the only Democrat who seems to be doing that this campaign season,) partly whining at the GOP. You know, same old same old
Arguing doggedly against returning Republicans to power, President Barack Obama told Iowa voters Wednesday that the GOP has been dishonest about what needs to be done to revive the economy and restore middle-class dreams.
“We can’t pretend that there are shortcuts,” the president said, addressing about 70 voters in a grassy backyard.
Wait, I thought that was the purpose of the Stimulus, to be a shortcut to prosperity and job creation, which was why it had to be passed without being read and only a tiny bit of debate.
“When you look at the choice we face in this election coming up,” Obama said, “the other side, what it’s really offering is the same policies that from 2001 to 2009 put off hard problems and didn’t really speak honestly to the American people about how we’re gonna get this country on track over the long term.”
And what are those hard choices, Barry? The article doesn’t report on them after his typical “same policies” talking point he has been using since he started running for President (a job he doesn’t seem to like much). At least he didn’t pull out his “D is for drive R is for reverse” silliness. He did answer a question about a woman’s son losing his hopey changey feelings
Obama responded by citing a list of areas of optimism, ones she could tell her son about it. He said his government is providing more students loans, trying to encourage private job growth, and making tough decisions now that will help the county reclaim its rightful stand as the top leader in innovation and entrepreneurship.
Over the long term, the president assured, “their future will be fine.”
It will be fine, as Democrats will lose the House, come close to losing the Senate, Obama will lose in 2012, and the GOP will take the Senate. For Obama’s last two years as POTUS, he will have to face a GOP House which will push (we hope) wise legislation that will enable business to push for and expand, providing new jobs.
One man, who described himself as a small business owner manufacturing promotional items like T-shirts and lawn signs, criticized Obama’s plans for allowing tax cuts on income over $250,000 a year to expire.
“As the government gets more and more involved in business and more and more involved in taxes, what you’re finding is you’re strangling those job creation vehicles,” the man said.
The president disputed that, saying he’s already signed eight pieces of legislation providing small business tax cuts.
Showing some frustration, Obama said: “Your taxes haven’t gone up in this administration. Your taxes have gone down in this administration. There’s a notion that, well, he’s a Democrat so your taxes must have gone up. That’s just not true.”
And there in a nutshell is a big chunk of Obama’s problem. He doesn’t take well to people questioning him, because he is Obama, and better than everyone else, so, instead of doing like Clinton or Bush 43 would do, commiserating, feeling the pain, he snaps back, gives a talking point with little basis in reality, and tells the questioner to suck it up. Obama doesn’t look like a happy camper
He further told a priest who was worried about some of his parishioners who have lost manufacturing jobs that those people’s jobs are gone, so, they just need to move on and they’ll just have to develop new skills, like for the mythical “clean energy” jobs.
The problem with his so-called tax breaks are that they are short term, have enormous requirements, and are offset by the devastation wrought by the Democrats health plan and the coming expiration of the 2001/2003 tax cuts.
And they keep on popping up at his “backyards” too; these Americans who really are concerned, may have even voted for him, but don’t like the direction he’s taking us. These are the same folks who are joining Tea Partys, and they’re asking him the tough questions now. And now the nearly irrelevant press is being upstaged by local Joes and Sues and Alvas etc.
But we’re all racist of course. Can’t be real worry, can’t be that we have fears for our jobs and our healthcare being destroyed, nope we’re just bigots who don’t want the president to succeed. BS.
Better get used to hearing this stuff, it’s not going away. The Silent Majority is finally speaking out and standing up for their rights, and if libs don’t like it-well too bad.
Obama should feel lucky that we aren’t unhinged like lefties, otherwise we would be demonstrating at the front of the WH every day.

The bad thing is that as the big O talks, everyone knows he is lying. It would be nice if one in the crowd would just say, “you are lying”. That would likely get the attention of the MSM. When he is talking about not raising taxes, I wonder if he knows the impact of his health policies on all of us and especially small business. And they haven’t even started yet!

What good does MORE government controlled student loans due to a student looking for a job while in school, and then a career afterwards. Jobs are gone or going.
Someone really needs to ask this man how his Tarp, Stimulus 1&2(&3?), health care mandates, EPS, drilling moratorium, are NOT harming the average American worker, and those unemployed!?!?!?

Beck just had a good segment explaining the CO2 thing, the shutting down of the oil production and the taxes. It is simply that Obama wants to take any and all wealth and redistribute it around the world. This makes more sense than any science or concern for the environment or any of the other excuses for what this guy is doing.

YES!! Because if you can get control over the House and, hopefully, the Senate, then the Conservatives and Republicans control what bills get passed. And, they would be able to manhandle the EPA in to its proper place They can force the re-opening of oil exploration as well.
If you vote in your one Repub rep, and I vote in my one Repub rep, and then Teach and Trish vote in theirs.. pretty soon, we have a super majority.
What people don’t get is that these nifty programs that Obama comes up with costs real people money.
He makes it seem like he is doing a favor to a person running a business that the government is loaning the business money that they took from the owner originally.
Of course, the government has added a layer of bureaucracy, so the money given back into the pocket of the business is never returned in full.
This is all about power. Obama believes that the government knows how to spend your money better than you do and he wants the power to do so.
I’ve just reported you to the Office of Misinformation Division. You should be receiving a government-funded and government-led re-education shortly. And, be afraid. You know with government money behind it, it will be the best run, most efficient, most elite re-education system you have ever undergone.
in the 40s and 50s when the American economy ws by far the strongeston the planet the top income tax rate was 80% and it didn’t seem to “strangle” our economy amnd we were able to drop our national debt which was 120% of our gross national product down to less that 29% in 8 years. Why should the uber wealthy expect to do any less than the “greatest generation” did for the USA ?

The economy in the 40’S AND 50’S was not exactly robust. The fact that the US did so well is because everyone else was doing so bad. All the countries were broke! It took England till the latter part of the 50’s to stage any recovery at all.
Now the 80% tax rate. That was not a real number as there were so many deductions and other means of averting the tax that it was not real. Those don’t exist now. Besides, are you living in a free society when you are taxing at those rate, I think not. What gives a government the power to take so much from a select group of people? That is wrong and everyone knows it.
