Dingy Harry Plans Tax Cuts Showdown For September

Either Harry Reid has something up his sleeve, or, he is the dumbest Democrat leader ever to put an issue with which Democrats are always on the wrong side of the American people at the forefront right before elections

Senate Democrats will hold a September showdown over trillions of dollars in expiring tax cuts passed under President George W. Bush.

Senior Democrats had expected the controversial issue to be postponed until after the election, but Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) plans to bring it up when lawmakers return from a five-week August recess.

Apparently, it is now “controversial” to believe in lower taxation

That would make tax cuts a front-and-center issue in the days leading up to the midterm election. The debate promises to be contentious, pitting Democrats against Republicans, liberals against centrists and the Senate against the House.

“I expect it to be on the floor in September,” said Reid spokesman Jim Manley.

Democrats should turn this into an interesting circus, complicating what is a very simple issue. Reid probably wants to make the Dems look like the good guys by extending a few of the 2001/2003 tax cuts (those things they railed about for over eight years), yet, I will make the prediction that they come out looking really bad, once they play too many games, get in cat fights with each other, make the extension very short, and try and throw all sorts of perks to Democrat voters and donors into the legislation.
