Climategate Investigator Hides Eco Directorship

Another day, another story about the fox guarding the chicken coop. Andrew Orlowski at the UK Register has the exclusive

The peer leading the second Climategate enquiry at the University of East Anglia serves as a director of one of the most powerful environmental networks in the world, according to Companies House documents – and has failed to declare it.

Lord Oxburgh, a geologist by training and the former scientific advisor to the Ministry of Defence, was appointed to lead the enquiry into the scientific aspects of the Climategate scandal on Monday. But Oxburgh is also a director of GLOBE, the Global Legislators Organisation for a Balanced Environment.

GLOBE may be too obscure to merit its own Wikipedia entry, but that belies its wealth and influence. It funds meetings for parliamentarians worldwide with an interest in climate change, and prior to the Copenhagen Summit GLOBE issued guidelines (pdf) for legislators. Little expense is spared: in one year alone, one peer – Lord Michael Jay of Ewelme – enjoyed seven club class flights and hotel accommodation, at GLOBE’s expense. There’s no greater love a Parliamentarian can give to the global warming cause. And in return, Globe lists Oxburgh as one of 23 key legislators.

Why did he fail to disclose this relationship? This would be akin to putting Nancy Keenan, the president of NARAL, in charge of auditing the government’s abortion policies, or

One insider, who declined to be named, described Oxburgh’s appointment as “like putting Dracula in charge of the Blood Bank”.

I’m sure we’ll get a balanced, honest account of what happened at East Anglia, right? Right?

Elsewhere, you know the climahysteria regarding the loss of Bengal Island? Yeah, about that, Anthony Watts destroys the meme.

stop the hysterics Teach. Oxburgh was the former chairman of Shell the UK branch of Royal Dutch Shell. Why no hysterics about HIDING that connection? Teach Royal Dutch Shell believes that climate change is real and a serious problem. Oh and they also believe that the oil was formed millions of years ago, not just in the last 6000 years. Shell was also one of the first companies to leave the Global Climate Coalition which opposes immediate action of reducing greenhouse gases.ALL of the other companies left that group in 2002 but Shell was one of the first

Every year I have to fill out a form that discusses all my potential conflicts of interest so that my work won’t be embarrassed with something coming up. I’d get fired if I skipped over a major one like this. But this guy gets to guard the henhouse…

Jim this “guy” was the head of Shell Oil in the UK why do you think he would be telling us lies about climate change ? HE WORKED FOR SHELL

and now those wacky “scientists” at NASA (the same ones who claim to have sent men to the moon) are saying that 2010 will be the hottest year on record !

Teach do you think that NASA is hoaxing us ?

How about the fact that it wasn’t hidden to begin with? Or are you really trying to say that we should be upset that we knew the guy worked for Shell and how dare he not disclose what was already known?

Jim this “guy” was the head of Shell Oil in the UK why do you think he would be telling us lies about climate change ? HE WORKED FOR SHELL

Because he no longer works for Shell. Why is that so hard for you to understand?

This is how you continue to lose all credibility. You will say that oil execs are in the tank and have their own agenda so they must be lying. If one of them says “AGW is real,” they are no longer lying. It is clear that you don’t care about their association, but rather whether they agree with you. You don’t even care about the truth. You just care whether people agree with you.

Teach do you think that NASA is hoaxing us ?

No, we know that you are hoaxing us. You are trying to tie warm temps with AGW. NASA doesn’t make that claim. It must suck when the very article you cite disproves your own beliefs and hypothesis.

Is it Any wonder I have ZERO respect for AGW religionists like little retard johnny?

…I wonder if he recalls that his god, algor, took money from the tobacco companies? I’d be curious to see algor’s vote- or his father’s vote, for that matter- on legislation concerning tobacco?
