Amendment To Block Detainee Abuse Photo Release Dropped

According to sources on the Hill, the Lieberman-Graham detainee photo suppression amendment is out of the conference report of the supplemental.

For everyone who made phone calls — pat yourself on the back.

Yes, liberals/progressives/surrender monkeys, pat yourself on the back. Do it every time a soldier, sailor, airmen, or private American citizen is killed and/or truly tortured because of the release of photos that is completely unnecessary, except to make the far left feel good and allow them to continue their beloved equation of America with Islamic terrorists.

If the far left forces the release of those photos, which, fortunately, President Obama is mostly against releasing, each one should be released with a photo of  real torture that occured in Saddam’s chambers, photos of Nick Berg and others having their heads sawed off, and the Americans who fell or jumped from the World Trade towers.

Fortunately, this is not the end

Sens. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) and Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), who appear to be on the verge of losing a battle for quick passage of legislation that would keep secret photos of detainee abused in U.S. military custody, are stepping up their rhetoric about the consequences of letting the images go public.

“Such a release would be tantamount to a death sentence to some who are serving our nation in the most dangerous and difficult spots like Iraq and Afghanistan,” Lieberman and Graham said in a joint statement this morning.

Lieberman and Graham are vowing to attach the amendment “to every piece of legislation the Senate considers.” They point out it passed the Senate by unanimous consent. They don’t point out that Sen. Tom Harkin (D-Iowa) has said he opposes the photo amendment.

It’s simply amazing that there are actually elected members of Congress who want photos released that will put Americans in harms way, making an amendment necessary. How did politics come to this?
