What Say To Iranian Bigwigs At July 4th Parties?

Unbelieveable, if true. Well, not really unbelieveable, it is Barack Obama sitting in the White House, after all

In a new overture to Iran, the Obama administration has authorized U.S. embassies around the world to invite Iranian officials to Independence Day parties they host on or around July 4th.

A State Department cable sent to all U.S. embassies and consulates late last week said that U.S. diplomats could ask their Iranian counterparts to attend the festivities, which generally feature speeches about American values, fireworks, and, of course, hot dogs and hamburgers.

The notice, sent on Friday, said that the posts “may invite representatives from the government of Iran” to the events, a State Department official said Tuesday, quoting from the document. The official spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss an internal communication.

In this case, I don’t blame the official for wanting to keep himself/herself anonymous. Not exactly the kind of information that the American people will like.

And lest anyone on the left say, “eh, it’s just CNS News,” the story apparently originated in the NY Times and is published on page A4 of today’s (June 2nd) print edition. Also, this is CNS News using the AP edition.

I wonder if Obama will invite the Iranians to the White House for the 4th?

  1. If Americaans don’t serve kosher hot dogs, or the Muslim equivalent thereof, will the Iranian diplomats complain to the UN that they were being tortured by not having their culture respected?

  2. Don’t worry, Obambi will make sure everything is perfect for the Iranians. You know he won’t allow the kinds of gaffes and insults he has pulled with actual allies.
