AGW Today: Here’s Your AGW Science

I make no bones about the fact that I treat the anthropogenic global warming issue as one mostly about control of people and economies, a political issue. Science is simply something the Believers spin to fit their need for Mankind to be at fault. This is why I leave the deep science to people like Anthony Watts and sites like Icecap. But, every once in a while, science is fun!

A glitch in satellite sensors caused scientists to underestimate the extent of Arctic sea ice by 500,000 square kilometers (193,000 square miles), a California- size area, the U.S. National Snow and Ice Data Center said.

The error, due to a problem called “sensor drift,” began in early January and caused a slowly growing underestimation of sea ice extent until mid-February. That’s when “puzzled readers” alerted the NSIDC about data showing ice-covered areas as stretches of open ocean, the Boulder, Colorado-based group said on its Web site.

Umm, oops? This begs the question, how often are we provided with data that is erroneous? Consider weather stations. Anthony Watts has a long series on these stations, with photos, to show how poorly they are placed. So, if the data is incorrect, perhaps the whole “theory” is at fault. Especially since it starts from the premise that CO2 is released by Man, so, it must all be Man’s fault. It couldn’t have anything to do with natural processes, like during the rest of history, could it?

Whether devastating faults, dank caves or mud cracks on a drying desert plain, Earth’s surface is riddled with fractures. Now a new study had found that the cracks exhale large quantities of gas, perhaps enough to affect global warming.

Of course, the Believers will blame the cracks on drought from AGW.

Since I am over at Watts Up With That? for the sensors, there is another article up regarding Jim Hansen (not the puppet guy) calling for civil disobedience against global warming. If the science was so settled, why would the Believers need to pull these kinds of stunts?

Perfection can not be found in this world, maybe the next. The errors were found and corrected within 4 weeks. Teach when are you going to start mocking the millions currently being spent by the military on the subject of global climate change ?
