Welcome To The New Spending Plan

I wonder if any Republicans will have the cajones to stand up against some of the insanity, which you can see over at Townhall. A few choice bits

  • $300 million to provide rebates for people who purchase Energy Star products – seems like people are already getting “rebates” for making a wise purchase
  • $600 million for the federal government to buy brand new energy efficient cars
  • $400 million for state and local governments to buy brand new energy efficient cars  – oh, good, what are we going to do with all the ones they already have? Money wasters
  • $2.4 billion for carbon capture demonstration programs – it would annoy me if this was for actually capturing carbon, but, this is worse. At least if they were capturing, we would be getting something for the money, but this seems like it is just for learning how to do it. Money waster.
  • $350 million to research using energy efficient technology on military bases – gotta make sure the howitzers are energy star compliant
  • $500 million for energy efficient manufacturing demonstration projects. – again, this accomplishes little. How about $500 million for energy efficient manufacturing demonstration projects? Actual stuff that works?
  • $400 million to build major research facilities “that perform cutting edge science” – “We have no idea what types, they just gotta be “cutting edge””
  • $400 million “to put more scientists to work doing climate change research” – why bother? I thought the science was settled?
  • $600 million for satellite development and acquisitions, including climate sensors and climate modeling. – again, I thought the science was settled?
  • 2 billion to provide child care services for an additional 300,000 children in low-income families while their parents go to work. – this way, the little rug rats can get an early start on being indoctrinated.
  • $300 million for the National Wildlife Refuges and National Fish Hatcheries – wait, that’s it? How about we take the $500 million for the manufacturing thing and $2.4 for carbon capture demonstration and add it for this budget line? Anyone disagree? If you do, you hate the environment? OK, last part is over the top, but, I think we could put more money towards this category.

I seriously hope there is some actual money in there for national defense.

This isn’t a “stimulus”, this is the funding of Democrat pet projects… and the Repubs won’t do a damn thing, not that there is much they can do in the House. But they better be screaming high and low that this is not the answer… but they won’t….
