WFTV Biden Interview Followup: West Says No Regrets

Barbara West, whose interview with Joe Biden prompted a meltdown and hissy fit from Biden and the rest of Camp Barry, had this to say to the Orlando Sentinel

In a call to me Friday evening, West (pictured) said of Biden: “I have a great deal of respect for him. I have a great deal of respect for Sen. Obama. We are given four minutes of a satellite window for these interviews. Four precious minutes. I got right down to it and, yes, I think I asked him some pointed questions. These are questions that are rolling about right now and questions that need to be asked. I don’t think I was rude or inconsiderate to him. I think I was probing and maybe tough. I can’t believe that in all of his years in politics, and all of his campaigning and such, that he hasn’t run into some tough questions before. He’s certainly up to it in giving good answers.”

In other words, suck it it, Team Lightweight. You’d think someone who has been in Congress since 1972, and That One, who wants to be president, could take some hardball politics. Those who want to take on America around the world must be LTAO.

Video below the fold, since I never got around to posting it Saturday

Elected in 1972. Seated in the Senate in 1973, the same year I enlisted in the Navy. At least after 20 years, I was able to retire out. Actually I got caught in the Post-Desert Storm Drawdown. I got RIFed!!!!!!!! So Delaware, How about doing the same.

  2. LFforMcCain says:

Thank God for Ms. West. It’s about time someone asked the real questions of the Obama’s sidekick. Of course Obama won’t ever be interviewed again…but thankfully someone had the balls to ask the questions that NEED TO BE ANSWERED. God Bless you Ms. West and definitely (!) don’t back down. God love ya’

    • Chris says:

You think those were hardball questions?

This lady asked questions that were completely inaccurate. That’s why she received that type of response from Biden. McCain, Palin, and Obama would have been flustered in the same way. Flustered at the amount of inaccuracy spewing from these questions. How in the hell did those questions even make it to the telepromter?

I’m voting for mccain and I was shocked. Whoever wrote these questions clearly is buying into the smear campaigns.

You have to read the policies yourself people. These guys have only been running for two years now. If you haven’t read them, you better cram like you have a midterm next week.

  3. DKB in TX says:

A meltdown and a hissy fit? Did you actually watch the interview? Despite being somewhat incredulous at the sophomoric questions and the wild assertion about America’s leadership on the world stage coming to an end, Biden answered her questions directly and didn’t dither about airily like the other vice presidential candidate does when asked tough questions.

By the way, West’s husband is a GOP political and media consultant, but I’m sure Barbara came up with those questions completely independently from her husband and the McCain campaign’s talking points…

    • mikeOH says:

Obama and Biden may have the ability to skillfully debate both sides of an issue, but unfortunately it takes more than that to be a true leader. It takes a certain level of courage, conviction, and real experience. Colin Powell should have run for president. Obama’s only presidential-caliber experience is what he’s learned through immersion on the campaign trail over the past two years. He has assimilated politically expedient views to get elected, while fine tuning his ability to project the image of one who is presidential, well-informed, and honest. He is an opportunistic sock puppet.

this is priceless! the poor woman obviously had no clue what she was reading off the teleprompter there; marxism and all… but as a (non-partisan) european, my fav is her saying that “sweden is a socialist country”!!! — hilarious! this could run on SNL without any editing!

    • koriko says:

As a European, you must be blind to what socialism is. Sweden has tremendous taxes, public sector institutions, and is…well…socialist. Sorry to disappoint.

  5. T Brevi says:

these guys are masters of the straw man argument pretty much how they answer any tough questions

  6. DP in OKlahoma says:

And they say the media has only liberal bias. As a former journalist it’s one thing when you quote someone else who has said something that clearly is an opinion but when you ask questions such as, “aren’t your economic proposals really marxist?”, then you’re feeding your own agenda.

I thought Biden did very well considering her questions. If it had been me I would have said, “I’m sorry I thought I was doing an interivew for a local TV station. I didn’t realize you represent the RNC.”

    • Davis221 says:

To DP Oklahoma, One 4 minute interview and some tough questions for Joe Biden and you think there is no liberal bias in the MSM? get real!! She asked some tough questions to a guy whose been in politics for 30 yrs and he thinks its a joke or the question isn’t fair? He isn’t used to getting them obviously from the rest of the media at large. Poor guy…what abuse…So her husband is a Republican strategist. How many Democrat journalists are there in the US and who are they in bed with? I think you know the answer..You’re a former journalist? I’m glad.

  7. b says:

    =))
She obviously has no clue what she’s talking about. Maybe if she weren’t a talking puppet and had done some research, she’d be less hilarious.
    =))

  8. kls1116 says:

    Obama. 08.
    Obama. 12.

    We’re almost there.

  9. Stacy says:

Geez Teach, you obviously were linked by some Leftard.

Biden did have a hissy fit. And I don’t necessarily have a problem with Biden other than his politics. I think he’s a pretty likable guy.

After 20 months of hearing softball questions, it was nice watching him answer questions that should have been asked all along.

All one has to do is go back over all the BIG interviews and compare the questions side by side. If you can’t be intellectually honest about this, then you have no business voting.

  10. They are fun, aren’t they, Stacy?

Biden’s not a bad guy, and I would trust him considerably more then Obama. He is more of the old school Dems, rather then the currect Progressive moonbats.

  11. STEWART HAMILTON says:

WHAT WAS THAT ABOUT . BARBRA HAS NO CLUE WHAT SHE SAID. IT WAS LIKE SHE THOUGHT ONE THING AND SAID ANOTHER. THE QUESTIONS WERE NOT WORTHY OF ASKING AND SHE LOOKED LIKE AFTER SHE SAID THEM THAT SHE WAS TRYING TO FIGURE WHAT THE ANSWER WAS GOING TO BE BEFORE BID ANSWERED. SHE SUCKS. AND NEEDS TO SAY SHE SORRY FOR WHERE SHE WAS GOING WITH THEM.LEFT FEILD IS WHERE SHE WAS GOING. p-( L-)

    • Chris says:

more like right field…..way right field…..hitting the handicapped people on the sidelines

  12. Stacy says:

Stewie, got a bit of a grammar problem, don’t cha babe. Best way to drop troll shit at someone’s place is to make it poignant.

She asked questions that need to be asked, but no one will. It happened again in Pennsylvania with Biden.

How can we expect Obama/Biden to deal with world leaders when they can’t answer a simple question given to them by an American journalist?

  13. RickE says:

Pretty funny! “Hissy fit?” Biden can’t help himself from cracking up when he hears these wacky Hannity talking points coming out of the Botoxed orifice of this elderly small-town spokesmodel.

Why didn’t she just ask Biden why Democrats hate America, or what it’s like to work with a secret Muslim?

  14. Il Duche says:

I must compliment WFTV on the employment of Barbara West. She has authenticated WFTV’s fascist bona fides. Please continue to broadcast Ms. West as she makes your station a beacon for all of us who fight to stifle free thought, racial tolerance, and Christian values.

  15. ed Taylor says:

:/flag Journalist today have never understood the repect that should be given to all political offices. It’s not that these parties should be held to a higher standard but they need to be respected for the office that that they are running for. Ed Bradley is rolling over in his grave. Walter Cronkite needs to come back and bring a sense of professionalism to the interview process. I would love to see the FCC fine and or revoke the licenses of these media outlets who place ratings and revenue ahead of the truth in media.

We have to hold these parties both left and right to a much higher standard! I am sure that some of these so called journalist stayed at a “Holiday Inn at some point to gain credibility.

We as Americans need more from the media.

    • Wait, are you serious, Taylor? Last time I checked, politicians are, per our political system, trustees of the Public Trust. And, as such, they should not be given ultimate respect, but, forced to answer tough questions so the public knows who and what they are voting for. That is something the media used to do, but, now mostly only do to Republicans.

  16. nutral_alltheway says:

It’s not that the journalist should not ask though questions, is that they should not inject their opinion or their own agenda. I think it’s fair to ask about what Biden said about the next president will be tested but very few people believe that Obama it’s a Marxist and that his agenda is about socialism. For crying out load Warren Buffet supports Obahma, do you think he is Marxist or does Barbara West believe Obahma/Bin have a socialist Agenda and that’s why she asked the questions?
