Absonders Commit More Crimes? Who Knew?

The Los Angelos Times, usually a supporter of illegal immigration, and certainly one of the Top 5 top liberal US papers, has a surprisingly candid article today: Illegal immigrants who return after deportation commit more crimes, study finds

Illegal immigrants who have been deported at least once from the United States are far more likely than other immigrants to repeatedly commit crimes, according to a study by the nonprofit Rand Corp.

The data indicated that illegal immigrants, overall, were not a greater crime risk, according to the study, which looked at all inmates released from Los Angeles County Jail for a month in 2002.

But among those who previously had been deported, reentered the U.S. and were arrested and released from jail, nearly 75% went on to commit another crime within a year. And 28% were arrested three or more times during the one-year period.

The recidivism rate was much lower for illegal immigrants who had not been previously deported, with 32% of those inmates being rearrested within a year and 7% arrested three or more times during that year.

Not to mention the fact that they all broke federal law in coming to the USA illegally in the first place or overstaying their visas.

Aurora Police say he was driving without a license Thursday at about 8:00 p.m. when he slammed his SUV into Patricia Guntharp’s pickup, killing her and her passenger, Debra Serecky. The truck went careening into the Baskin Robbins store at Havana and Mississippi. Debris dragged by the truck hit and killed 3-year-old Marten Kudlis.

Police and witnesses say Hernandez ran from the scene of the crash. Officers searched a nearby neighborhood and apprehended him a short time later.

ICE spokesman Carl Rusnok says the detainer means that Hernandez will be released to immigration authorities if the state releases him.

He’s had 16 arrests, including charges of forgery and fraud, and investigators say he’s used numerous aliases over the last five years.
