Brad Miller (D-NC13) On Drilling Vote

Unfortunately, my Congressional critter is a Democrat. Still and all, I asked him if he would stand with the majority of the American People and call for a vote on drilling. Here is his answer

Dear Mr. Good:

Thank you for contacting me about off-shore drilling for oil and gas. I appreciate hearing from you on this issue.

I am concerned with proposals to expand oil and natural gas development on the U.S. Outer Continental Shelf and my voting record in the last Congress reflects my opposition to new drilling. I voted against bills that would have opened up portions of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) for oil drilling and that would have lifted the moratorium on drilling in all portions of the Outer Continental Shelf (OCS).

I believe that Congress needs to work to preserve both our environment and our future energy security. Our nation’s path forward should be based on energy efficiency, new technologies and renewable energy. As issues regarding off-shore oil and gas drilling come before the House, I will keep your views on these matters in mind.

Please contact me about other issues important to you. Thank you.

Sincerely,
Brad Miller
Member of Congress

In other words, no. But, it is no wonder. He has a pretty safe seat, so, he is not worried about taking Queen Nancy’s advice and pretending to be for drilling. I don’t think the GOP has even put up a contender in the 13th Congressional district of North Carolina this time. So, another Democrat who cares little for the rising costs problems of the lower and middle classes. No surprise there!

John Boehner’s place

House Republican leaders confirmed today that former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-GA) will join House Republicans’ ongoing national protest over the decision by Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) to adjourn the House without a vote on legislation to lower gas prices and increase American energy production.  The former Speaker will join House Republicans in the Capitol on Wednesday morning to deliver a message of on behalf of the 1.4 million Americans who have signed a petition demanding that Congress increase American energy production.

To be honest, I would be more impressed if Newt hadn’t become an AGW Disciple.
