AGW Today: It Caused Black Hawk Down

Wow. A headline that can really catch ones eye: CNS News – Global Warming Led to ‘Black Hawk Down,’ Congressman Says

A top Democrat told high school students gathered at the U.S. Capitol Thursday that climate change caused Hurricane Katrina and the conflict in Darfur, which led to the “black hawk down” battle between U.S. troops and Somali rebels.

Rep. Edward Markey (D-Mass.), chairman of the House (Select) Energy Independence and Global Warming Committee, also equated the drive for global warming legislation with the drive for women’s suffrage in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

“In Somalia back in 1993, climate change, according to 11 three- and four-star generals, resulted in a drought which led to famine,” said Markey.

“That famine translated to international aid we sent in to Somalia, which then led to the U.S. having to send in forces to separate all the groups that were fighting over the aid, which led to Black Hawk Down. There was this scene where we have all of our American troops under fire because they have been put into the middle of this terrible situation,” he added.

Flabbergastation!

Of course, when Markey says climate change, he means the anthropogenic type. But, as pointed out in the story, and throughout history, drought can happen at any time. Was the major drought of the 1930’s caused by man made global warming? Not many SUVs back then. Is the drought in Antarctica caused by global warming? It is considered a desert, after all. How about the Sahara? Global warming? Death Valley? Gobi Desert?

How about the collapse of the Maya? One of the theories is that it was caused by drought. Was it man made global warming?

The almost complete drying up of Lake Chad? Oh wait, that started in the 1960’s, and went on through a time when several sources said that a global ice age was coming.

Yes, drought is one of the causes of the conflict in Sudan. The drought started decades ago. But, again, Markey doesn’t mean natural, he means Man made. Perhaps he would care to address one of the other causes, radical Islam.

Meanwhile, the kids he was bloviating to were there to illuminate the Congress about Climate Change and Hurricane Katrina, how Man has screwed the climate, and we get brainwashed silliness like this

“Katrina woke me up and made me pay attention,” said 17-year-old Danielle Wold from Harvey, La. “One of the worst disasters in history made me want to do something. In 100 years, New Orleans could just be another Atlantis.”

Well, yes, considering some of New Orleans is actually sinking, and below sea level. It is basically swampland, and so close to sea level that they cannot even bury people, instead, having to intern above ground. And, yes, Katrina was terrible. Depending on who your read (and believe), the death toll stands somewhere between around 1,00 to over 4,000. Over 227,000 died during the 12/26/2004 earthquake. The only thing man made about the Katrina disaster was building a city on sinking land in a hurricane zone, as well as a governor and mayor who had no idea what they were doing.

Nice to see Congress is taking the time to deal with the really important issues of the past, rather then the ones that are affecting us now, and in the future, such as, I don’t know, gas costs.

  1. John Ryan says:

Teach it is precisely becaus eof the famine and mass migration from former homes that both the CIA and the Pentagon have identified the national security implications of climate change. Of course you can still close your eyes to these reports and pretend that these organizations have been taken over by the radical greens maybe even under the direct control of SOROS

  2. E.D. Kain says:

Global Warming also causes the high rates of divorce we have; tooth decay; the tendency to drive too fast on ice; high-school drop-out rates; smoking; illegal immigration; Hillary Clinton; and a host of other evils.

    Oh brother.

Proving once again it is possible to type while staring into a strobe light, John fires another cannon into the ozone layer and exposes yet another black hole!

Suddenly I have an image in my head of my youngest son when he was a diapered lad, as I was swappin’ out a nasty diaper. I powdered his behind, he farts and a cute little white cloud like a 106 in the distance……pooooofffff.

Climate change… I think it has turned into the new “Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon“, where you can just make a chain of events and tie them together to create any event you want… lets try this…

    1. I drive my SUV to work and exhale C02 increasing the rate of “climate change”.

    2. Because of climate change, it doesn’t rain in California.

    3. There are mass wild-fires in California.

    4. More greenhouse gases/pollutants are released into the atmosphere from all the fires and changing the climate of California.

    5. Madonna feels that she can’t go back to visit her home in California due to the breathing problems caused by said pollutants from the fires caused by the drought caused by the SUVs causing climate change.

    6. A-Rod gets a divorce.

See. We’re ruining families because of climate change. Its that easy…

  5. The good news folks is just this. Now that the economy is irretrievably in the crapper–after everything shuts down and…viola! No more global warming…or Internet…or…

  6. John, again, climate change can cause issues. We will have similar issues when it starts getting colder again. There is no such thing as a stable, perfect climate. The Earth won’t allow it. And, again, my issue is about AGW, not natural climate change.

E.D., it causes everything! Or was that Bush causing everything? I get confused p-((

Duncan proves it: AGW causes everything

…….the economy is irretrievably in the crapper–after everything shuts down……

To the clueless fatalists suffering from post-BDS, who actually believe that crap…if you think it’s tough now, you should’ve experienced the daze under Mista Jimmah.
